We originally planned to go to Kika for dinner, however the owner was on vacation and the restaurant was closed - but to our luck Alma was close by and we wondered in. I am so happy we chose this place!
We began with king sized Pisco Sours, served in half litre glasses. Needless to say we only needed 1 drink each - but these were exceptional! Properly mixed, strong, and with fresh fruit and mint. We had the White Fish Ceviche, it was so good! Fresh and flavourful!
We ordered the Pad Thai and the Thai Chicken on rice as our entrees and were not disappointed. Whoever thinks there is not great food in Costa Rica is mistaken as so many chefs are heading there for the fresh food and relaxed lifestyle. Our chef (I think her name was Cassy) was from Chile and was so sweet and happy! We never needed anything, and she even stayed open for us as it looked like she was going to close before we got there around 9.
Highly recommend Alma!

This restaurant was just divine. The food was delicious and as the cafe was set off the roadside you escape the dust for an evening! Lovely family owned business and great friendly staff. A definate must if you are in the area.

We were looking for a place for diner, and looking at the good TripAdvisor reviews, we have decided to go to Restaurante Alma.
Nice atmosphere as you can chat with the chef while she is preparing your sushis :-) Nevertheless, the smell of fried food was very strong and my cloths were smelling badly when we left the place.
As appetizers, we took some maki that were good, but nothing exceptional for me. The passion fruit ceviche was nice.
As main course, we had some fish in Caribbean sauce that was good but definitively too spicy for my boyfriend, as well as the Tuna tataki. Both very very nice for me. Fish was definitively very good and we enjoyed our diner at Alma!

Visited for dinner on a steamy April night and it was amazing.
Food was excellent, especially the fresh local fish and seafood. The waitress made an effort to give us the fish monger's number so we could get our own fresh catch of the day. Ceviche was exceptional, fresh, properly spiced with a hint of local fruit. They even made a special drink for us with the ingredients we requested.
I can see how from some reviews they're might be a bit of a wait for the food as there are maybe 30-40 seats in the restaurant and only one chef/cook/owner.
Bottom line: it was amazing and the service was very friendly and accommodating. Worth every penny and more. Every family restaurant is a win in my mind and this is definitely a great one!

We love the laid back atmosphere of Costa Rica, but we waited over 2 hours from when we ordered to actually get our food, which is just unacceptable. There are only about 10 tables in the restaurant and had we known the wait for our food was going to be so long, we would have gotten appetizers or something but the waitress was standoff ish and just kept telling us the food was coming. Long wait, bad service - the food was ok but not worth that kind of wait.

Receive our more honest apologize, but this day arrive 15 people for a surf academy and next of they, a lot of people at the same time, you are in the end of the line in our kitchen and yes we recognize the delay, (Not two hours) , but the service this specific day don`t be good for everybody, We understand when you don`t receive what you want , all look black, but in the future, if you like give other opportunity, call to make a reservation and we can warranty to you a service for your satisfaction.
-Santa Teresa don`t have a regular high season, one day can be full , other 2 people, unfortunately this is not good to people working with fresh food, only restaurants working with freeze food and using the Microwave can reply fast, we are not in this way, sorry again.
