“You Have No Excuse For Eating Anywhere Else in Santa Teresa!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 April 2014

My wife and I were on our honeymoon last week in very nearby Franamar. One night we looked to leave the hotel and find a place for dinner within walking distance. Someone suggested Tapas El Rey Patricio and if we ever see that person again, we will plant a big wet kiss upon their lips. For starters: the place is beautiful. One giant thatch hut open on all sides and with 30 foot ceilings. We were immediately met by Vanessa the co-owner (along with her boyfriend Ramon). We felt as if we were walking into their living room. She made lots of great suggestions but we wound up dancing around their menu sharing 4 or 5 dishes between us. First up was their homemade sausage with garlicky white beans, then papas bravas, followed by the most wonderful chicken croquettes known to man. Then there was a tomato salad which if I try to even describe, I will embarrass myself. A truly spectacular meal. In fact, it was so memorable, we returned a few nights later. This go around we had: a gazpacho, a tomato-ey bread, and the biggest, juciest prawns I had ever laid my eyes. My wife insists I mention her smoothie (Batidos) which she finished before the meal even arrived.

Vanessa and Ramon have created a restaurant you will not soon forget. They are both super nice and super cool and if you don't eat there, you only have yourself to blame. My only complaint is that they aren't located in NY where we can eat there anytime we want. Thanks, guys!

“Fantasticooo!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 April 2014

Fantastic location with an on top view of the see and the dreamy sunset.
Vanessa and Ramon are a nice, hellpfull and fresh couple of spain, Vanessa delicous you in the service, she is wunderfull, charming, funny and completes the atmosphere!Try her Mojito!
Ramon works alone (in that you will see his professionality) in the citchen and is a fantastic chef cook that creates delicious plates with love and passion, we tried near everything: paella, seabass, red snapper, gaspacho and other tapas..and really everything was sincerly delicous!!
The best paella i have ever tried!
We spenst 5 days sleeping in the simple, but lovelly "romantic room" from witch you can sleep and awake with the view of the see from your bed (we slept witch open-veranda).
We would have spent all the 2 weeks in that lovelly hotel and especially that room, but there were other reservation.
In the room price you even have daily breakfast included, fresh fruit coffe, bred, cheese, jam, eggs etc... (in costa rica the most hotels dont include breakfast in the price!).
In the 2 weeks we spent in Santa Teresa we tried the most restaurants and we can ashure you (as italian couple thats can/loves cooking): THATs the BEST RESTAURANT of Santa Teresa and one of the best we tried at all!!
Thanks a lot Vanessa and Ramon for completing our holliday and for all that funny moments spent together!
You make it..special!

“Excellent place, excellent food, excellent owners! :-)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 March 2014

The title says it all :-) We had amazing time staying with Vanessa and Ramon. They are very friendly, helpful and fun people to be around. They put their hearts and souls into this place. We had small but very cozy romantic room with ocean view and hammock. Vanessa and Ramond were very kind to us. They took us to the beach with them, showed us how to surf, invited us to joint them and their spanish friends to go to the concert in the bar at Santa Teresa. It felt like visiting old friends. And their spanish cousine is delicious! If you are unlucky and the rooms are fully booked you have to come here for the food at least! We were on our honeymoon in Costa Rica for 2 weeks, traveled around a bit and then chose this place due to the best reviews - and it was the best choice :-) Unfortunately we originally booked only for 2 nights because we wanted to explore other places in Costa Rica but we extended straight away for an extra night. After 3 nights they were fully booked :-( but Vanessa and Ramon called for us to several places and helped us to find another accommodation in Santa Teresa so we could stay close and come back to their restaurant for the delitious mussels and chololate volcano cake.
Ramon you are a star, we really miss your food! :-) And Vanessa you make people to feel very welcome :-) You both make a great team.
Thank you for making our stay at your place so wonderful. We will definitely stay in touch with both of you.
Lots of love Ilona & Martin, Czech Republic
