My husband and I have been to Villas Hermosas twice, and loved both our stays. (7 nights the first time, 8 nights the second time) The resort features clean, well-maintained bungalows, delicious breakfasts, a clean pool, a lovely bamboo forest to stroll through, delightful howler monkeys, relaxing hammocks on the porches, and the most friendly and helpful hosts you will ever meet anywhere. The resort is a short walking distance to my favourite beach in the world (and I have seen quite a few). Also, a short stroll in the other direction, at low tide, leads to an interesting tidepool perfect for an hour of snorkelling or basking in the warm water. There are so many things that we love about Villas Hermosas but the main ones that will keep us coming back are: the utter lack of hustle and bustle, falling asleep to the sounds of the ocean, star-gazing at night (incredibly clear!), the beautiful sunsets a few steps away from our bungalow, and the wonderful hosts. Although Villas Hermosas doesn't have a restaurant on site, this provides the opportunity to experience the excellent variety of restaurants in town. We never had a bad meal once.

Everything about our stay was wonderful! The Villa was spacious, clean and beautiful. The beach was the nicest I've ever had the pleasure to swim in. A great beach for walking or jogging, too. We met friendly, interesting people and Brad and Tara, the owners, were so helpful and made us feel at home. We are planning to return--it was too nice not to repeat!! I can see why they've been voted #1 on Trip Advisor.

My husband and I were in Costa Rica for the first time but it will not be our last because of Villas Hermosas and all they offer. From the tropical setting to the custom detail of every villa, these accommodations make this place one of a kind! Personal touches not only with the decorating but also the managing of these villas make this resort an excellent choice. Tara and Brad make your stay and vacation quality their priorities. We couldn't have asked for more. We have traveled through Europe, USA, and the Caribbean but our time in Villas Hermosas is at the top of our vacation spots. Here is what you can expect: a great night sleep; wonderful complimentary breakfast; clean and beautiful, tropical villas; personal assistance in organizing your daily itinerary from Tara and Brad; views that encompass what Costa Rica is about; and a feeling that you as a visitor and tourist do matter and making your stay the best it could possibly be. We have already recommended Villas Hermosas to family and friends. We hated to leave but will return!

Villas Hermosas was everything we expected and more! My husband and I went to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. It was the perfect spot! The accomodations and grounds were just beautiful. We very much enjoyed visting with Brad and Tara, their staff, and the other guests. It was very much like visiting family. Brad and Tara were very accomodating. They booked our excursions for us and gave us many helpful hints before and during our stay as well as great recommendations for restaraunts. We loved the ATV tour with Brad! Thanks Brad! We saw howler monkeys right outside our villa and many creatures in the tide pools at low tide! We loved our horse back riding tour as well as the Montezuma zip line! We can't say enough good stuff about this place! We will be back! Tip: take the commuter plane to Tambor!

We stayed here on the last 4 days of our trip to Costa Rica. Brad and Tara were awsome hosts. From the moment I contacted them to the minuite we left the hospitality, information and location were outstanding. We stayed in one of the Villas and were blown away by the size and relaxing interior. The kitchen is a good size, and the dining table was a nice place to sit and eat dinner.

Tara recommended a coupe of restaurant that were amazing. Brisas Del Mar in town and Los Artistas in Monteza.

The beach is right at your doorstep and the tide pools in the afternoon were fun for swimming and snorkling. The white sandy surf beach about a 5 min walk was an excellent place for noobie surfers. After a couple of attempts I was on my way!

I would highly recommend Villas Hermosas, and absolute jewel on the pacific!

After a long drive from San Jose, Villas Hermosas was a breath of fresh air. When we arrived we both sighed a breath of relief. It was exactly like the pictures on their website and our villa was amazing! We stayed in the Honeymoon Villa which looked out onto the ocean and we laid in our hammock most afternoons and watched the sunset. Brad and Tarra were extremely helpful with whatever questions we had for them and jumped at any chance to make our stay easier, more relaxing, more comfortable, and the list goes on and on. I have never seen two people more suitable for running a guest establishment than them. They were very hospitable and made you feel not only like a guest but a part of their family. The breakfast at the Rancho was delicious and plentiful and the chefs were very friendly. In fact, everyone we encountered there was very friendly. Our room was always spotless when we came back from our adventures of the day and the landscaping was beautiful not to mention the impeccable grounds keeping. They were out there every morning raking the leaves off of the sand. Attention to detail is king at this place. We knew it was going to be a great place by all of the other reviews we read but nothing could have prepared us for how wonderful and selfless Brad and Tara are. They are the ultimate hosts!

What a great spot to chill for a week! Ok, it's a little hard to get to (try driving from Liberia for a real adventure!) and Mal Pais/Santa Teresa has a distinctly surfer vibe that may not appeal to all..but Brad and Tara run a wonderful property where you can really feel at home. The villas are huge and very well equipped. The grounds are immaculate and the beach, a short stroll from the villas has something for everyone. Surfers like the waves (which when we were there were breaking quite far from shore), beach combers will enjoy the tidal pools at low tide, and people who just like to bob around will be content in the warm, shallow water. A car is really a necessity if you want to head out and buy groceries and enjoy some of the many wonderful restaurants in the area. We loved Ambrosia, which is about a 20 minute walk down the beach..and don't miss the sushi nights at Milarepa, which is just 1-2 km away. We also took advantage of a private chef (actually that sounds bad..we didn't take advantage of him, we just hired him)..and had a lovely 4 course, personalized menu under the stars..a real treat. We would like to extend a special thanks to Brad who kindly dropped everything to come and rescue us when our rental car died about 10 km away..now that's service! Although this property is advertised to some degree as a "family property", my husband and I (who have no kids) certainly felt it was still appropriate for adults/couples..they do have a honeymoon suite, but if you take a villa you will have so much space you won't know what to do with it! Best weather is between Jan - April if you want to escape the cold weather...hope we get to go back soon!
