A quaint little area tucked away from town, but walking distance to a littl waterfall. The surroundings of this place is not a parking lot, rather a bird sanctuary. We really appreciated the help of Bob, the caretaker, in advising us of the best use of our time during our stay. The "Must See" vs. "the if you have the time and extra $$". Clean and a great value.

What more can I say about this beautiful place that hasn't already been said? The grounds are absolutely beautiful with all sorts of birds and humming birds around. The price is right. Three of us stayed in one of the cabins and it came to about $20 each. Bob and Debbie were filling in for the owners, and they were very nice. The morning we left, Bob offered to drive us to the waterfall to save us a taxi ride. Very thoughtful. The hot springs are within walking distance. What fun to give yourself a full body mud bath for an extra $2. Admission to the hot springs is $2.25. I'd bring my wife here the next time I'm in Panama.

Hi All,

After reading some reviews and searching places we decided to stay at Cabanas Potosi with the lovely hosts Denis & Mireya. When we arrived we received a tasty mango drink and a warm welcome. Their rooms are clean and tidy and the garden is amazing. This place is located just 10 minutes walk from the city center in a quite place full of birds and squirrels. you can walk or take a taxi for 2-3$. Near the market there is an information booth were they can call Dennis and he will probably be glad to pick you up.

We recommend not to stay in town as it is very noisy and with 10 minutes walk you are in an amazing garden and can really appreciate the true nature of this valley. by the way, the price of staying in a noisy town room is almost the same as staying in a wonderful room at Cabanas Potosi so dont hesitate too much:-)

Dennis & Mireya are wonderful hosts, full of information and tips. Highly recommended.

My wife and I planned to stay in El Valle for a couple nights in August, first found Cabanas Potosi because it was in our price range, however we were so pleasantly surprised when we arrived, pics don't do it justice, it is very clean and has a perfect location, close to downtown but far enough away that u don't here any traffic, etc. We thought not having AC might be a problem, but did not need it, definitely cools down at night.

Dennis and Meira were great hosts with directions, suggestions, etc. El Valle is a great little town, perfect for a 3 night stay, easy two hour drive from PC.

Only thing Budget about this hotel is the price, would definitely stay here agin.

Great experience
Me and my daughter stayed at Cabana Potosi, for 3 days and it was a wonderful time, the owner gave us a lot of tips and a map what to do in the area, recommended restaurants and helped us getting into town. She also spoke very good English. The property was very clean. The house was nice with a fan, refrigerator, warm water, shower, and toilet. The garden was much better than the photos showed. We could relax in hammocks and look at the nice, well-maintained garden. They knew a lot about the animals around, especially birds. They were some roosters somwhere it made the night short, but that`s part of nature.
The owners are very concerned about the environment especially cleaning up the town (which is not very developed yet in the rest of Panama) . We went hiking, looking for waterfalls, square trees and had some very good food at the local restaurants. It is a 20 min. walk from the village. I would recommend these cabins very much.

Room Tip: we stayed at Number 4 farthest away from the main office and kitchen but very nice

We've stayed in a cabana with our 1,5 years old boy and we've really enjoyed our stay.
The location is beautiful, the garden is really nicely maintained and a safe place for our boy to wander around. The cabana is simpel, but with everything you need including a little fridge. Outside you have your own hammock and two comfortable seats. You may use the kitchen in the main house in the morning and evening, which was really handy with our boy. There's also a grill for use outside.
The town itself is a few minutes drive away or a 15 min walk. It's small, but who needs a big town when you have the green hills, hot springs and waterfalls around you?
We've hiked the India Dormida, fantastic!
We would definitly like to stay here again if we'll visit Panama anytime soon.

Room Tip: All cabans are the same.

Cabanas Potosi is a collection of four cabins located a few minutes by car from the main street of El Valle De Anton. The cabins are very simple, though by no means rustic--a bit like a Holiday Inn from the 1950s. (The rooms have neither TVs nor phones.) But the prices can't be beat, and the owners (a retired American married to a Panamanian) are the nicest people you will meet during your stay in Panama. The grounds are also quite lovely, with trees and flowers of every color and description surrounding the cabins and the owners' house. Tea and coffee are served in the morning, but no breakfast. All in all, the cabanas are a nice place to stay if you're looking for a place to get away from it all.
