Several accommodations I have visited. Cabañas Potosi was not the Cheapest, but when I walked through the garden I knew: Here I'll stay! The cabanas are simple but practical. The mattresses are very comfortable, thanks to the cool nights you can sleep very well. There are only 4 cabanas!
The singing of birds, the rustling of the trees, the view of the flowers out of the hammock - ideal for a stay. The owners are very nice and helpful. It is regrettable that the cabanas have no wifi, you have to go to the terrace at the front desk. Finally, I spent three nights here.
In the supermarket "Rey" can be found prepared salad and sandwich.

We were for 2 days in El Valle and loved the town. We stayed in Cabanas Potosi and couldn't think of a better place to stay! Dennis was a perfect host, telling us the best places to hike and eat. And he sure knows what he's talking about! The cabana was Nice and big, the bed was perfect. We loved the beautiful garden, where you can see some beautiful birds. Would've stayed longer if we could!

The two nights that we spent here will be remembered as a highlight of Panama!! The Hosts were extremely welcoming and informative.
Morning coffee was provided and the birds were fed so we got to see some beautiful ones fly in in addition to the three semi caged ones who live there.

The rooms are good. It has this motel like setup, where you put your car in front of the room. Cabana is a strange name for the place, since it's stone/ concrete buildings, with a little terrace with seats and a hammock.
The garden looks like a park and has many flowers and the lady-owner can talk for hours about the birds that might or might not be present in the garden.
We can't help to think that the owners have had some really bad luck with visitors in the past, or that they are extremely paranoid.
Everywhere you see, they put up signs and papers with warnings, attentions, rules, notifications, possible fines, etc. To us, this takes away some of the hospitality.
In theory the kitchen can be used by visitors, but only between certain hours, and you have to sign in on a time schedule, since it has to be shared with the owners (which put plenty of warnings in the kitchen as well).
If you are able to see trough all this, it's actually a very nice place where you can chill out, with pleasant owners, who are willing to help you with all sorts of stuff.
We had a nice stay.

We spent 4 wonderful nights at Cabanas Potosi. The rooms were spacious and the garden and grounds were beautiful. We enjoyed the morning coffee social where we gathered with other guests to witness the bird feeding. Dennis and Mireya were amazing hosts, friendly and always willing to recommend a good restaurant or share their love of Panama. We traveled by bus, but Dennis was usually available to shuttle us to and fro, or we grabbed a $2 taxi. If you make reservations to go bird watching with Mireya's brother Mario, make sure you double confirm them so he is still available when you get there.

I stayed here for 2 nights with my mom and a friend and we all thoroughly enjoyed El Valle and Cabanas Potosi. Dennis and Mireya (the owners) are very friendly, helpful and truly enjoyable to be around. It almost felt as if we were staying with friends. The location is a bit removed from town, but Dennis will drive you where you want to go for a flat rate of one dollar. In the morning, fruit and coffee are included and you can sit on the back patio and watch the birds. The rooms are nothing exciting, but they are clean and functional. There is wi-fi but only in lobby area. All in all, our stay at Cabanas Potosi was wonderful and I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else if I were to return. I highly recommend it both El Valle and Canabas Potosi!

My husband and I stayed in El Valle for five days before heading to the Azuero Peninsula and Santa Fe. El Valle was our favorite town--and a big reason was due to the helpfulness of the owners of Cabanas Potosi, Mireya and Dennis, for all their suggestions. Not only do they have a binder filled with very detailed info about the area (And a hand drawn map!), but they spent a lot of time talking with us, and they were so knowledgeable and friendly. On New Year's Eve they even invited us into their home with their family and right before midnight they drove us to the top of Cero de La Cruz to view all of the fireworks lighting up the entire valley below. The view was so incredible. Mireya and Dennis also drove us through town on our way back from the mountain and Mireya, whose family has lived in the area for several generations, explained the custom of how the locals burn effigies in a bonfire to say goodbye to the passing year. We learned so much from both Dennis and Mireya. Other things we enjoyed in El Valle were the zoo, the mineral baths, hiking to the top of La India Dormida for the great view (pretty rocky but it was totally worth it), and checking out the market in town. At night we enjoyed lounging in the hammocks around the grounds at Cabanas. Loved El Valle! Thanks Dennis and Mireya!
