Quite a nice walk amongst the forest area along side the river. Approx 1/2 a mile from the car park to the falls this is an easy walk with very little climbing or up hill sections...

We enjoyed the short hike through the forrest and ended up at the natural pool where we swimmed and it was great. Definitely worth the extra few dollars.
The waterfall is not what the name implies in Spanish. Yeah it’s a waterfall but it was not spectacular by any means. The forest was beautiful. Btw if you drive there the street sign for this attraction simply reads “El Macho” & nothing about El Chorro so heads up or you’ll drive aimlessly; I did.
Also stop by a restaurant on the main drag called Red Pepper, small, clean place with great food & very affordable compared to the other places in town...a plate of stew chicken with rice & salad $4.50 everywhere else everything started @ $13.
We hesitated to go here because of some of the scathing reviews but we were very glad we did.
We spent about an hour there exploring the paths. It's not a hilke - think of it more like going round a park or botanical garden except that it is natural. Go at a speed that gives you a chance to spot birds and butterflies and see the sun playing on the leaves. Breathe in the forest. You'll feel better by the end of it.
We paid the $5 to get in. It is worth the money. Trail is well maintained and the waterfall was beautiful even near the end of dry season. They give you walking sticks to use. Easy trail and maybe 10 minutes to the waterfall.
Nothing special. Really short hike that is nothing special also. Was disappointed. Keep going up the road and there is a much better hike that goes to the top of the mountain.
