Off the beaten track but ended up being French cuisine at it very best. Go with the flow and savour a very special dinner. Six excellent courses for 30 Euros including wine!

We were introduced to Les Truffiers by some friends who live nearby. A chap called 'Yanick' runs this place and it is one of those restaurants you simply MUST visit once in your life (or more if you can!) - it is very individually decorated and fees very very old style french but with friendly staff. A glass of cold home-made pear aperitif in the garden then into the restaurant for a gastronomic delight - you eat what is on the menu that day but to give a flavour - top quality fois gras followed by a suprb steak and finishing off with an amazing crushed strawberry and cream sort of 'mousse'. Deliceuxeseseezy !!

Found les truffieres after researching on tripadvisor ahead of our visit to nearby Savignac de Miremont. We wanted a really genuine restaurant where we could sample all the real local cuisine.

The reviews did not disappoint!!!

It is tucked up a little lane, completely off the beaten path, the 'restaurant' itself is on the owners land opposite their cute house and looks like an American barn! Pet geese and goats roam around whilst we were given a drink of pear liqueur on arrival and left to explore before dinner was served. We happened to be eating with three other English groups although later in the night some locals joined.

The host is so friendly, asking where we wished to be seated and explaining each course to those of us that couldn't work it out. There is no menu but as you arrive the courses for the night are written on a chalk board for you to see!

The inside is amazing.. Collections of memorabilia from their travels all over the world are fascinating, pictures to look through between courses, books stacked up and every inch decorated in something interesting!

The good was absolute perfection! We had soup to start which was delicious, second was a sample of fois gras, duck gizzards (strangely one of the best things I tried!)smoked duck and a dressed salad, and lots of bread to go with it! The main two types of duck, confit and magnet de canard which was SOOO yum! Then cake the amazing collection of cheeses, all made from their produce, last course was creme caramel and then coffee, you also get 1/2 liter of house red/ white and water.. All for 30 Eur! Amazing value and incredible food.

An amazing experience, a must do if you are visiting nearby, such a lovely host, atmosphere and good. We will definitely return.

When we arrived we realised that there was no menu to look at, and very quickly understood that we would have no choice as to what food we were given. Not knowing what to expect, we decided to just go with the flow. Without doubt it turned out to be one of the best meals we had in the Perigord. Firstly the aperitif (lovely) then garlic soup (with a small glass of white wine). Then a carafe of red wine followed by a salad; actually ‘salad’ doesn’t do justice to what was on the plate. Simply amazing leaf with the most beautiful foie gras, scraped ribs, charcuterie and some other things of which we weren’t sure. Followed by amazing duck with scrummy garlic potatoes and amazing vegetables. The meal was rounded off with a stunning raspberry panna cotta. The environment is lovely inside, full of travel souvenirs and various retro antiques. We came back for a second night (outside this time) and had the same meal (but the best duck leg I have EVER had), and it was just as beautiful and as much fun. A truly special experience.

We had a wonderful meal here during our stay in Tremolat. The food was exceptional, so tasty and all cooked on site. There's no a la carte, you eat what you are given, but it's delicious and we had no complaints. Our little girl was given a special plate of cold meats, cheese and bread to eat alongside our meal which was fabulous.

The best thing I can say however, is that the proprietor and staff were simply wonderful. It was a friendly, warm place to eat and we very much enjoyed the whole experience. In fact I'd consider going on holiday to the same region just to eat here again.
