We first spent four days here from 12th to 15th July. What a lovely hotel in Montreuill sur mer, about 30 to 40 minutes from Le Touquet. We couldn't fault it. We had a lovely large room with a queen size bed and an en suite. The breakfast buffet was nicely displayed and there was a good choice. The hotel was spotless, and the staff extremely helpful and pleasant. Lovely celebrations in the town centre Montreuill sur mer for Bastille Day on 14th July. We enjoyed our stay so much that we went back again this weekend, again Friday to Monday! This time Montreuill sur mer had a son et lumiere based on Les Miserables. Apparently this event takes place every year. What a fantastic spectacle that was! The outdoor "stage" was a large grass area in front of the castle ramparts. This was lit up by various lighting effects. The display was narrated throughout in French, but was easy to follow if you did not understand French. The evening ended with fireworks and pseudo gun battles. It was wonderful. Thoroughly recommended.

Room Tip: All rooms are good

The rooms are of a good size, simple, but clean. The bathroom was large and the towels luxuriously soft. Staff were courteous with good English, and the free WiFi in the rooms was an added bonus. There is a bar in the lobby which sells drinks until late, with comfy seats and sofas - perfect if you don't fancy exploring the town.

We have stayed at the Hermitage a few times. This lovely historic hotel is conveniently located in the equally pleasant town of Montreuil. The rooms are large with plain decor and are clean. The staff are friendly and very helpful. If the restaurant is closed there are plenty of places to eat nearby. Breakfast is typical continental fayre, plentiful and good. There is secure parking at the rear of the hotel, though there is a charge for this. If you don't want to pay there is parking on the street at the front of the hotel.

Room Tip: Try and get a room overlooking the square.

This hotel was a deviation from our original itinerary which should have been Armiens. We were pleasantly surprised with the hotel itself and the charming little village surrounding it after staying in an hotel which was just off the autoroute and very impersonal the night before. Our room (Room 1) was spacious and had a large bathroom. The shower worked well but if your wet body touched the shower curtain the whole thing clung to you and you had to fight it off! We enjoyed the olde worlde charm of the place. Due to time of year and the fact we had travelled up from Spain we didn't need any form of air con, just as well as the cooler in the room looked frightening! We didn't sleep very well but couldn't put it down to anything in particular, the bed was comfortable, the pillows adequate and very quiet at night (the hotel not the pillows!). As we were travelling in a group we were all seated together for dinner with a set menu, which was delicious and knocked spots off the food we were given in a 5 star hotel in Andorra. I can safely say it was the best meal we have ever had in France. Breakfast was continental only but I managed to successfully boil a couple of eggs and the croissants and pain du chocolat were perfect. Room provided toiletries and tea/coffee making facilities, also free water and sweets, lovely touch. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We couldn't find the Sur Mer bit, but the village is gorgeous and we could imagine spending a pleasant long weekend here. We spent a very pleasant couple of hours in the bar after dinner, the barman is to be recommended for his level of service, politeness and willingness to try to cope with my awkward requests in appalling French. Bravo to him. If you like the more family-run atmosphere over the large, modern impersonal type of hotel this is an excellent place to stay.

The hotel is in a quiet but central location in this charming historic town. Reception was friendly and efficient and our 'comfort' room was large with minimalistic decor. The bed was large and comfortable and with the quiet outlook onto the square made for a good night's sleep. The bathroom was enormous but we were disappointed with the poor water flow in the shower and the bath was very slippery with no mat provided.

The public rooms and corridors were large but decor seemed rather jaded.

During our four night stay we had one breakfast but it was overpriced for a simple buffet and we didn't like the coffee. There are several cafes serving a good (and less expensive) French breakfast within easy walking distance. As others have pointed out, it is not necessary to pay €10 for parking when there is plenty of free parking space in front of the hotel.

In summary the hotel is convenient and comfortable but a little overpriced. We would stay there again.

We have stayed at the Hotel Hermitage on many occasions now and cannot fault this hotel or staff in any way. We will most certainly be returning and would highly recommend the Hermitage for an extremely pleasant stay. The hotel is within easy walking distance of some really nice bars/restaurants. We just love Montreuil sur Mer.
