Disappointing. The hotel was, I guess as I would have expected from a "Best Western", and was nicely situated in the centre of the town. What let it down was the surliness exhibited on our arrival by the lady on reception. We had arrived early and we were effectively greeted with a "Why are you here now" type of reaction. No attempt was made to find us a room that we could have used and the hotel did not seem that busy. We were allowed to leave our luggage whilst we waited. We had arrived at around 11:00hrs and were not allowed to check in until 16:00hrs. Generally we found the staff "ok" but by no means did they want to put themselves out to help their guests.

We found the price of drinks expensive and on one occasion were served red wine that tasted like vinegar. We did complain and were provided with replacement drinks.

The same lady on reception checked us out and as we were leaving we did get a smile !

We stayed one night here, mainly to collect some wine from the Wine Society shop which we found out is right next to the hotel. Wine Society members get a "special" rate and free parking. The hotel used to be a hospital and our room on the first floor was a bit lacking in charm, definitely functional rather than cosy. We didn't try the restaurant but had breakfast which again was OK but nothing special. I don't think we'd stay here again, as it wasn't particularly memorable, apart from the foul language of the party of English golfers in the breakfast room. Not the hotel's fault we know, but not a great start to the day.

The hotel is well located and the staff were overall fairly decent. The rates are well overpriced. Stayed one night and had no major issues - the room was clean, someone had left the window opened which had attracted about 15 flies into the room - with a little pressure the staff were 'happy' to come spray a product.
Don't bother paying for breakfast 15 Euro for stale bread, a poor selection and scrambled eggs that barely contain any egg. Disapointed in that.
Overall, I did not feel that this was value for money.

We arrived at the hotel to be told in a rather brusque manner by the reception staff that were overbooked and as we had only used our credit card to "guarantee" the booking we didn't have any comebacks. They said they had booked in a hotel of the same standard which was as they pointed over there and that was it no real apology or offer of compensation. They also claimed to have left a message for us, whether that was by phone or e-mail we certainly didn't receive one.
The hotel they had booked us into was The Coq which was although close was not "just over there". What a contrast the staff were at The Coq. They could not have been more accommodating and friendly. The room was clean quiet and comfortable. I wish we had booked there in the first place. I won't be recommending The Best Western Hermitage to anyone.

A very grand building in the centre of a picturesque French town, The Hermitage looks impressive but lacks attention to important details. Despite having booked a table for dinner we arrived and discovered that the restaurant was closed on a Sunday - yet we had not been informed of this. We were not best pleased to have to go out into sub-zero temperatures and a biting wind in search of a meal.
It should be policy to ensure that the 'key' is actually programmed to open your allotted room, (thus avoiding having had to walk a considerable distance back to the Front desk) and once inside that the hairdrier works and finding - with wet hair - that the telephone also does not work thus necessitating another journey back to the front desk. Added to this the TV had double images on every channel.
Yes they were suitably apologetic and and allowances made to the bill - but none of the above should have happened in a 3* hotel. The room was comfortable and clean although the decor was rather 'heavy'. We've never stayed in a Best Western before - not sure we will again.
The upside was that the restaurant we went to - at Les Hauts de Montreuil - was absolutely excellent.! We'll stay there next time.
