Les Canisses is a very pleasant place to stay. Our room was new and modern and the restaurant was very good. Sitting out on the terrasse for afternoon drinks and dinner was lovely, right beside the Seine. It was a very relaxing place and worth the short drive if wanting to go to Monet's garden.

Room Tip: Avoid those facing the railway line. Ours faced the river and we heard nothing but others said they were a little bothered by the trains.

We stayed at Les Canisses for one night after visiting Monet Garden in Giverny. The hotel is a little hard to find, hidden behind a train track, but once we found it everything was great. The property is right next to the river. The room was newly renovated. We enjoyed dinner there. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

We stayed in the sister 4 star hotel the night before staying in Les Canisses. We had to change since our room at the first place was not available for the 2 nites. We were concerned about going from a 4 star to a 2 star but it was just fine. This time we were right on the Seine with the fisherman. Our room was large and modern with a great shower! dinner was good in the restaurant too. Breakfast was continental so only croissants, bead, juice and coffee but all very good. Staff was friendly and the price very reasonable.

Le Canisses is in the process of refurbishment and so has some difficulties with access. However, the refurbished rooms are beautifully but simply finished. Excellent comfortable new beds and brand new bathroom. The restaurant serves hearty freshly prepared food with friendly service. Location is quiet with the Seine at the front door.
The only downside was that wifi did not reach our room.

Other reviews have mentioned the refurbishments that are well under way. In our party we had one modernised and one old room. Both were comfortable but will be even better!

The hotel has a beautiful setting right on the Seine, where you can sit peacefully and watch the fishermen and the river traffic. There is a train line that abuts the hotel but the trains stop at about 10pm and really do not spoil the environment. be careful if you wish to bring a large vehicle in after 20.00pm because the level crossings are closed and the only entrance is via a tunnel under the track.

The staff are young and obviously keen that you should enjoy your stay. They are friendly and accomodating and speak English, should you need that.

The dining room is truly excellent. The Bulgarian chef can rival any peer in France. His culinary judgment is exceptional. He catered for a vegetarian and a special diet with ease and aplomb. The breakfast is great value for money.

The hotel has special touches: a large outdoor but sheltered eating area, and absinthe cocktails that are spectacular.

The hotel can arrange tickets for Monet's house and garden at favourable rates.

We shall return and would recommend this hotel wholeheartedly.

Room Tip: Ask for a renovated room with river view.
