“Incredible penthouse, ideal facilities for a large group with easy access to the slopes!”
Reviewed 22 March 2015 for a stay in March 2015

Stayed at the Penthouse Caribou with 15 friends and I must say this place is brilliant for a large group. Plenty of space for all of us to chill out/eat/play games. Each bedroom is beautifully decorated, with great views! Easy enough to get to the slopes by bus and ski a huge area of the alps!
La Chapelle d'Abondance is a great little town, with a quaint brewery down the road from the Caribou (happy hour is 6-7pm - accompanied by the mountain of nachos and your night is sorted!). Plenty of fondue restaurants around, definitely recommend Les Cornettes! Or a supermarket the other side of town if you want to cook and take advantage of the penthouse amenities.
All in all fantastic holiday, no complaints!

“Best Chalet I have ever stayed in”
Reviewed 22 March 2015 for a stay in March 2015

The Chalet looked amazing from photos but still managed to exceed all expectations on arrival. The rooms are huge with stunning views of the surrounding area. Our group had the maximum advertised number of people and the chalet still felt extremely spacious with the large kitching, dining area, and mezzanine upstairs. The location is ideal for both beginner and experienced skiers with a short walk or bus ride to the huge ski area. The Chalet is incredible value for money and has actually been my cheapest ski holiday along with my best! Jacqui is a very helpful and relaxed host and we will definitely be returning in the future!

“A Penthouse that lives up to its name!”
Reviewed 10 March 2015 for a stay in February 2015

Wow! Jaw dropping luxury at the top of this well placed building with great access to the slopes in La Chapelle. The pampered feeling even extends to the large, heated and well appointed changing room - no pokey ski lockers here! All of the bedrooms are very large by normal alpine standards and each has a real character of its own. The kitchen is incredibly well appointed, so cooking a proper meal is a breeze and the dishwasher deals with the fall-out. Jacqui and Martin made us feel very much at home, their local knowledge is vast and freely given. Did we like it? Well, we're not waiting till next year before we go back again and I think that's a pretty clear indication of just how strongly we recommend Penthouse Caribou!

“Brilliant skiing, incredible local restaurants and perfect views”

We absolutely loved our recend trip to Penthouse Caribou. We were welcomed by Jacqui who had arranged our transfers, liftpasses and ski hire in advance so all we had to do was change into our gear when we arrived and head straight out onto the piste! Only there for the weekend we wanted to make the most out of our trip and our stay at the Penthouse certainly delivered.

The chalet itself is huge, beautifully spacious and perfect for groups with the separate lounge areas ensuring everyone could relax how they wanted once we got back in from skiing. Jacqui has thought of all the details with UK plug sockets in every room, plenty of places to hang ski gear and the welcome hamper was a lovely touch! The bedrooms were all gorgeous, the website doesn't do it justice. The views look unreal and face up and down the valley on two sides and across to the Cret Beni piste on the south facing side - perfect for catching a few rays. We really can't recommend visiting more, and excellent value for money.

The village of La Chappelle was idyllic. We ate out in two of the local restaurants both about a 5 minute walk from the Penthouse. Clos Savoyarde was a traditional regional restaurant with an excellent set menu, extremely good value and within view of the chalet's balcony! We also ate at the Cornettes a family run hotel/bar/restaurant that we stumbled upon looking for an apres-ski drink, extremely friendly and delicious food!

“Wonderful!”
Reviewed 9 March 2015 for a stay in February 2015

We had a great stay at the penthouse Caribou. Martin and Jacqui are generous and hospitable hosts, making you feel like you are in a home away from home. The house is simply stunning, on a prime location and with amazing mountain views in all directions. We were more than welcome to join them for a drink near the fireplace (which is massive btw) or shoot a game of pool. Breakfast is excellent, with both continental (croissants and Savoyan breads and cheeses) and British (bacon 'n eggs) varieties. We feel like we made dear new friends and will definitely visit them again.

“Absolute Top Quality !”
Reviewed 22 February 2015 for a stay in February 2015

You know you've stayed in a great place when you leave after a week's skiing and can't wait to get back there. The penthouse consists of two floors at the top of a roomy, attractive chalet, just walking distance to one of the ski lifts. The chalet is pure luxury - we had a bedroom with a large window looking straight out at one of the nicest red runs in the area. The small town is just moments away on foot and has sufficient restaurants, bars, etc. A little further is the delightful village/town of Chatel, with plenty of facilities. Being part of the Porte du Soleil, it is a great base for exploring a much wider ski area, including Avoriaz and Les Gets. Many thanks to Jacqui and Martin - they ensured that we had a most wonderful time.

“Amazing !”
Reviewed 17 February 2015 for a stay in February 2015

Our second visit to Penthouse Caribou did not disappoint.
The location of this spacious chalet allows easy access to some amazing and vast terrain for all abilities..Great lunchtime cafés and restaurants on the slopes allow for taking in the stunning scenery . Après ski in Chatel is lively but far enough away as not to disturb the peace and tranquility of the chalet.
Early morning walks to the local patisserie for fresh bread and croissants is a must !
Whether you choose to drive or fly (we have done both) Penthouse Caribou is easy to get to and easy to find.
We will definitely be back !
