A lot of the rooms actually have a view to the balcony of the next room. The pool enjoys a nice view to Hersonissos, but I wouldn't book here for the view only. Wi-Fi was not working properly. I am sure you can get better deals in the same price range.

Room Tip: Explicitly ask for sea view, otherwise you might end up looking over your neighbor's towels.

We booked a week on half-board basis at Amazones Village Suites in June.
However, due to Expedia's booking error our reservation was not passed to the hotel meaning that when we arrived at 2am, no one was expecting us.
Despite of this, hotel manager and staff welcomed us, offered us a beautiful seaview room and helped to resolve the issues with the travel agents.
Booking problems meant we only stayed for 2 days before being relocated to another hotel, but we enjoyed our stay at Amazones. The views ARE splendid, the suite we had was spacious and airy with breathtaking views of the sea and the town below. Great place for relaxation, away from Hersonissos which is can be busy, touristy and not very pleasant. But if it's your thing - walking down to the resort and the beaches will take about 15-20 minutes.
Once again, big thanks to the manager and staff for their kindness and help.

Room Tip: We had the room B2 at the top with great views

We booked this hotel through Expedia, but arriving there, we are told that we are not registered. After searching for some time, they find out that they had to cancel our registration because "they were full". I looked at [a well-known internet booking system] since and still it clearly stated "hotel registration confirmed, there is no need to verify". The only reasonable explanation I can find is that the hotel had /overbooked/ us. That is simply an affront. Anyway, they were kind enough to reserve for us a near, cheaper (though still 4 star) hotel though at a more expensive rate - a bit odd, but consistent with their scam-like policy, I suppose. Upon leaving this other hotel, we find in the registration area ANOTHER non-customer of Amazones Village Suite who was likewise told the hotel had cancelled his registration! Apparently, he had arranged the hotel through a "non-internet" travel agency and seemed to have got the exact same problem. In summary: this might well be a nice hotel, but beware: they might cancel you without telling you.

Room Tip: I'd suggest calling them before you travel unless you prefer a more ad-hoc style of travelling.

We were redirected to this hotel due to a mistake of the travel agency who booked for our Crete tour. Well it took a lot of patience to endure the stay. First of all let us say that this place has nothing to do with a 4 star hotel, Greek standard or not, at least compared to other 4 stars accommodation we have been in Crete this year. The view is nothing amazing: there are real high voltage cables you don’t see from the pictures. Apart for being ugly, they are not healthy for electromagnetic fields. So if you want to enjoy the pool, you know it. Same thing if you want to chill off with a glass of wine at sunset.
Prices are really high compared to Piskopiano: a 5 € for a carafe of wine of a disputable quality is nothing we have found in any other places in Greece. Well it was a sort of reverie to see the prices written on coloured stickers outside the bar. It reminded us of Italian bars in the early ‘90s...but prices and quality of the drinks were totally different.
Breakfast is undefined: not real Greek, not continental. We didn’t like it, as we didn’t like the fact that is served in a tiny and hot room with a window that probably goes to a toilet. We heard several time flushing noises.
If you expect to have a proper dining hall, well this is not the case. Tables are small even for two people. Breakfast time and dinner time are really crowded. It’s not a matter of the hotel being crowed or not: it’s simply badly organised. After the first day, we skipped both breakfast and dinner and went to Piskopiano, 5 minutes walk away where you can have proper breakfast and dinner (we do recommend Kostas).
Dinner at Amazones was really...unapproachable...quality wise and quantity wise....
Service was somewhat kept up by the energy of the two young people: Sha and Maria. They compensated the evident lack of experience in every possible way. The two manageresses (Caterina and Stella) were not very helpful. No comments any further.
If you want to book directly, we don’t recommend. If you happened to end up there, insist with your travel agency to move to somewhere else.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on top, away from the pool and the bar.

My partner and I stayed here for a week in June on a full board basis. Prior to booking, I poured over tripadvisor, took everything far too literally and became quite anxious about the choice we had made. Which turned out to be pointless really because it was lovely! Neither of use would hesitate to return at the drop of a hat.

Transfers; if you book a coach transfer through a holiday company you WILL be walking with your luggage from the bottom of the hill, and in our case quite late at night, in the dark, which is not what you want after travelling. It may have only cost us £40 for both of us, both ways, but it's worth the money just to jump in a taxi straight from the airport as we were sat on the coach for more than 45 minutes before we even left the airport! We were greeted warmly on arrival with a nice cold drink, a lovely touch.

Rooms; we had a sea view junior suite with a fantastic view. The view itself is worth it as the garden view rooms aren't exactly looking over a sprawling expanse, so the extra is wholly worthwhile. The room itself was spacious, clean and appropriately furnished. I did read a review about the televisions being outdated but we never even turned ours on; if we just wanted to watch TV we would have stayed at home. Ours was inclusive of air conditioning so that wasn't a problem. I did have an issue with some prescription medication I'd left on the bedside table being thrown away by the cleaner one day. Who by the way, come every day and change towels every other day.

One of the big pluses for us was the fact that there was a gym on site, though prior to leaving I could not for the life of me find any information or pictures about it other than it being there. We soon realised why. If you're expecting to do any sort of weightlifting, don't. I appreciate that many people wouldn't bother with a gym on holiday, and it probably hasn't been used very much at all over the years. Certainly any kind of cardio you can get from running around the hills! The one dumbbell and barbell we encountered had stackable weights but no clips, so it wasn't very safe.

Food; being full board did worry me slightly, more because I didn't know what to expect as some people have said they despised the food. However, we found it to be fantastic. Breakfast always had Greek yoghurt, cereals and milk, bread and jam, watermelon, ham, cheese, scrambled eggs (the "broken up omelette" another reviewer had), cake, olives, tomatoes, cucumber and feta. Lunch was taken from the a la carte menu with a choice of salad, sandwiches, burgers and varieties of chips. Dinner being buffet style, it varied every day but had staples of tzatziki, salad, potatoes and cake. We were more than pleased with this; we're not picky in the sense of what we eat, but more the quality of it, and the food was always cooked well. There was one day where there was no meat for dinner, but the stuffed tomatoes were fantastic so I was quite happy to go without.

If you want somewhere quiet and relaxing, not too far away from civilisation but away from the throngs of tourists; this is the place for you. I've never stayed anywhere where it was so easy to get a sunbed!! We left on a Saturday, the hotel was fully booked, yet the pool area only had 4 inhabitants and was so serene and peaceful I really did not want to leave.

There is a large range of drinks and cocktails available at the bar, by the standards of a lot of restaurants and bars nearby, they are expensive. Rather than paying as we went, we left our tab open and paid in the middle and at the end; it is VERY easy to just keep ordering and run up a substantial bill. However a carafe of wine is only €5, which can rival even the cheapest of bars.

This is 4* by Greek standards. That must be emphasised. If you're coming here and expecting Malmaison standards, you're going to be disappointed. Having said that, we were not disappointed. The food was better than we expected, the room was a lot larger than we'd imagined and the actual location was just superb. We were very well looked after in particular by Shah and Maria and nothing was too much trouble for either of them.

Room Tip: Opt for a sea view suite, we stayed in E1 which was in the closest block to the bar and reception

We have just returned from a lovely week in Crete & stayed on a half board basis at The Amazones Village Suites in Piskopiano which we enjoyed very much.

The Amazones Village Suites are in a great setting beside a mountain & with views out to the Sea of Crete.

The place is set out like a little village - very pretty with suites at different levels, the rooms are spacious, very clean & well equipped, the air con was nice & quiet !
We stayed in a garden view room, which was quiet & peaceful - the beds were comfy & we slept well.
The pool is very nice.
The gardens are pretty & well manicured.
The staff are very friendly & helpful, especially Shah & Maria.

The food was all buffet style - serve yourself which was fine but the food could be better.
Breakfast is from 8.30 to 10.30am.
Dinner is from 7.30 to 9.30pm.
At dinner there never seemed to be much meat - maybe because we went to dinner at 8pm other guests had eaten it all or maybe there wasn't enough.
On our first night we had a very small piece of lamb on the bone each - about 2 mouthfuls, when we let staff know the lamb had run out we were told - its all gone.

What meat there was seemed to be rationed !

I enjoyed the scrambled eggs & the coffee was nice.

The Greek yoghurt with honey at breakfast was delicious !

We would return to Amazones but would go B & B and eat lunch & dinner out as there are so many places within walking distance that serve delicious food like lamb Kleftico !

It takes about 5 minutes to walk into Piskopiano which is a small village with tavernas, bars & shops - all the tavernas we tried served delicious food ! You can sit outside in the sun or under the shade of trees - lovely !
As you carry on walking through Piskopiano it becomes the next village of Koutoulafari - a bit bigger than Piskopiano & again lovely tavernas, bars & shops.

In the opposite direction and about 20 mins walk is Old Hersonnissos which is pretty with tavernas, bars etc. On Monday evenings there is traditional Cretan music & dancing.

If you like to get out & about we would recommend hiring a car, there are lots of rental places nearby.

I would recommend The Amazones Village Suites - there are just 37 rooms which was just right for us.

We have just stayed here for a week and found the hotel to be a lovely place - clean and nice surroundings, nice pool and eating area. We seemed to have managed to get a full size suite with a sea view - even though we had only booked a junior suite - this was a lovely large spacious room, decent bed and had much more luxury than Greece normally offers, had a lovely view of the pool and sea. We were greeted on arrival in the early ours of the night by two lovely staff members - Sha and a young Romanian girl - we couldn't have asked for a nicer greeting and they were both very helpful for our stay. Good hotel - we only had breakfast - which was good - but not amazing - but offered most things needed. I would recommend to anyone.

Room Tip: get a suite with a sea view
