“Great value appartments”
Reviewed 21 October 2013

We have just come back from a short break at the village 14 to20 October.on arrival we had a very warm welcome from George.we had a much bigger apartment than the one we booked wich was a nice surprise.we had room 13 on the ground floor which was next to the bar,and where George and his friends would hang out at night we thought it would be noisy and intrusive but it was actulally nice people watching and listening to George put the world to rights.the apartment was clean, the bins emptied every day clean towels once aweek which was fine.the pool area was nice and clean with plenty of sun beds for all.the village had lots of nice restaurants a very nice atmosphere every where we went.we read a lot of negative things about the apartments along the lines George only likening the Dutch and returning customers but this was not the case. If we had any problems Anna was very helpfull and looked after us. All in all for the money a great place to stay.

lovely friendly staff, who do their best to ensure you enjoy your stay, apartments and complex brilliant for the privé, however agréé that Both pools not idéal for weak swimmers, surrounding area lovely, some great restaurants, you can have real laugh with staff,or you can isolate yourself for quiet holiday if thats your preference.
Not enough toilet rolls _ get à grip, self catering means you cater for yourself.

We (Lesley and Liam) have recently returned from staying, for one week, in the Piscopiano Village apartments (8th - 15th October). We arrived at 9.30pm, to a very warm welcome by the staff sitting at the front of the building. We were shown to our (huge) apartment and Danielle helped with my case, obviously because she knew the way.

The downside to staying here: the bedding was not changed all week and the towels were changed only once. However the bins were emptied every day.

The Upside: Our apartment (no. 46) was very spacious and provided very adequate kitchen/self catering facilities. The facilities: the two pools; table tennis; table football; children's park;the pool bar; the very modern lounge;computers in the reception area, were excellent!!

The staff: Mr. George and his mother, Sofia (who I guess wasn't a member of staff), George, Daniella and other ladies on the reception were extremely and friendly and helped with anything you asked of them.

We met some fantastic people who were staying at the apartments: Neil and Jane from Yorkshire, Steve and Sue from Hartlepool and Spencer and Carol from Surrey (?) Hello to you all and thank for such lovely company xxx

Restaurants: we ate at Gevsi, just across the road, where Tanya, her husband and her daughter worked extremely hard at providing excellent greek dishes. We also ate at Kostas Taverna, (turn right outside the apartments, then turn left up a small hill), which was also of excellent quality. David Veggera's was an experience in itself, where if we were able to get a table it was a miracle, but once we did we found that that the food was to a very high standard, the freshest of greek salads we have tasted and the most succulent pork fillets we have ever. tasted! Please don't be put off - if the restaurant is full, keep trying!

The stroll to the other villages, Koutoulafari and Old Hersonissos town was extremely pleasant. We had stayed in Koutoulafari in 2006 and it was great to see that places such as Rahati (Dutch pancake), were still very much up and running.

We would highly recommend staying in these apartments, in this village and visiting the neighbouring villages to make a very enjoyable holiday indeed.

We were neither returning visitors nor Dutch, so can hopefully give an unbiased review of these apartments.

We booked a 1 bedroom apartment via Alpharooms and on arrival were given the 2 bedroomed apartment directly above the bar/ reception area. First impressions were great- the room was clean, and as well equipped as any other Greek self catering apartment we've stayed in. We had the benefit of two balconies to choose from too which was great. The bathroom was modern and had a glass screen to one side- definitely one of the best bathrooms I've had in Greece. Air con was an additional cost (42 euros for the week) which again is pretty average in my experience. The beds and pillows were the most comfortable I've had on holiday in some time.

We keep pretty much to ourselves on holiday so can't really comment too much on the staff, other than to say that when we came into contact with them they were friendly and polite.

Cleaners came to the room daily to empty bins. Towels were changed and floors swept and mopped twice in the week we stayed, and the bed linen was not changed during our stay. To be honest this was perfectly adequate for us. There were 2 toilet rolls when we checked in- every other place I've stayed has only provided 1 and then you buy your own.

I agree with a previous comment about the pools- they are very deep (1 at 3 metres and the other a little less). No problem for us but I imagine it would be an issue for those with children so something to consider. Pools were cleaned throughout the stay.

We found the apartments to be ideal for us as a couple looking for a quiet relaxing holiday. We have stayed in Piskopiano before at the Matheos Apartments, which evidently get higher ratings but we preferred Piskopiano Village as the room and pool facilities were of a better standard. We would definitely stay here again.

As a final comment- I do think it is worth emailing the hotel prior to arrival just so you have confirmation that they definitely have your booking. Not so much a problem if you book a package holiday but we booked separately and have heard of occasional problems when booking with 3rd parties like Alpharooms (not specifically at this hotel but all over).

I WHOLE HEARTEDLY agree with the comments made by Kim C.
Earlier negative comments made by others should be totally disregarded.
We are regular returning guests at Piskopiano Village and can honestly say that we have never had any problems during our stays. Mr George, Anna, Daniella, Marianna, Georgios and Maria are very hard working excellent hosts - nothing is too much trouble for them to ensure their guests have an enjoyable holiday.
How can some people be so small minded to let the provision of a toilet roll ruin their holiday?.
If it's 5 star all inclusive accommodation you are looking for - this will not be the place for you, however, if it is simple, clean self catering accommodation you are looking for with a wonderful management team then this place is a MUST. How people can complain, considering the cost of the accommodation, is totally beyond me. 10 euros per room per night - ie £9 per night per ROOM not per person!!!!!
I am confused by some of the negative comments - It must have taken them hours to write their concerns and slag off everything they can possibly think of - only to conclude by saying they might return to this accommodation again!!!??? Why???

Reading this review you may say i'm biast.. The truth is I am. Only because I can honestly say hand on heart i havn't got a clue why anyone would write a negative remark about these apartments or staff. Like any other resort, homework about the area and locals should be done.
Self catering means just that and why anyone would believe the apartment staff should cater for their toilet requirements is beyond me and have to say i found the 2 rolls of toilet tissue in the bathroom quite adequate for the first few days.
Clean towels are provided every other day and bed linen at least twice a week, if you require more, simply ask any of the staff, including Mr George or put your used linen and towels in the bath/shower where they will be replaced by Maria automatically, who i have to mention is in the apartments DAILY to clean the appartments and empty the bins and replace linen etc if and when you need them.
This was our second year at the Piskopiano village apts and we have already booked for 2014. On BOTH occasions we have found Mr George and his staff to be nothing more than welcoming and each and every one of the staff are prepared to go the extra mile to help, assist and advise and i must stress, we have never paid a premium to ensure this. THE IDEA IS LUDICROUS !!
If you want a relaxing holiday with no interaction with other guests or staff, they wont intrude on your personal space but the guests and staff be it Dutch or English have never been anything but polite towards us and will always greet you with good morning and good evening BUT.... Maybe thats because we take the time out to be as equally polite ??
Danijella, Anna and Maria are just about the most warming women i have ever had the pleasure to meet (conclusion made on the first visit to the apts and confirmed on the second) Mr George is an incredilbe host, but like every holiday, it is what you make of it.
The apartments are spotless, the grounds are spotless, the pools are spotless, the food (anything you ask for) is excellent. The BBQ's organised i might add by Mr George and cooked by George the handy man are a must, you wont be disappointed with the standard and quality of fresh produce/meats prepared and cooked :-)
My only negative point woud be for families with younger children who are unable to swim may wish to consider the depth of the pools as they are deep and have very little shallow area but the apts do have a great childrens play area and park in the lower gardens. If you wish to visit the town below Hersonisos, its harbour and beach, and amazing Star Beach complex, i would consider a slow walk down the hill from the back of the apartments and a taxi back up, which are readily available all day. Anna or Danijella will willingly order taxis if you want one to go down. Or if you prefer hire a quad bike daily for the bargain price of 5 euros a day just down the road from the apartments on the right. Car hire is also extremly cheap and can be bartered. The people in the village will try their best to meet your affordability. Seriously!!! they are not their to make a quick buck.
For all the animal lovers reading bad comments of animal cruelty, the resident cats at the apartments are deflead and cared for by Danijela and Anna and refered to as very good mothers by Anna. In the winter months George the handy man takes the cats into his own home to look after them. It might be worth adding that the 2 female cats at the apts were the kittens from the apts last summer.
All in all - the apts cost around £186 for two people for two weeks- considering the cost of a premier inn in the UK at around a £100 a night i'm very much bemused :-/
Returning guests kind of says it all !!
Why would Piskopiano village apartments have so many returning guests if their first visit was an unpleasant experience ?

Room Tip: If your not happy with your room simply inform Anna on reception.

Nice, quiet & relaxing place. Staff friendly & main areas clean. Few issues.
Cleaners do not clean the rooms. They empty the bathroom bin & sometimes kitchen bin & that's about it. Our floor was not swept all the time we were there, never mind mopped - there s a brush/dustpan in the rooms so think we are maybe supposed to do this ourselves! . The shower head was sometimes left down & on those days all our toilet roll was soaked through so they must have blasted it round the bathroom occasionally as well.
We were on the balcony one day when the cleaners came in & they left after 2 mins. This seems to be the case in general as other people said the same & we also saw the cleaners going in to rooms near the pool & coming back out after only a few minutes.
After a week we started to feel grubby when in the room, which is not nice.
There were 2 girls cleaning who did the rooms together. There is approx. 65 rooms so they mustn't have time to spend doing them properly - 5 mins per room = 5hrs 25 mins so if they spent 10 mins per room they would be there nearly 11 hours a day (which they aren't).
George, the owner, is a nice man but I was disappointed when he served us at the pool bar one afternoon. We ordered 2 choc milkshakes & got 2 half glasses that we were charged the full price of 7 euros for. If it had been me that had gone for them, I would have tipped them into one & paid the right price. Other people got full glasses but not us. As the glasses are narrower at the bottom than the top, after 2 mouthfuls they were gone. We went to the shop for our chocolate milk & breakfast items after this which saved us a small fortune.
I don't think Daniella would have given us these. I would have been embarrassed to serve them.
Anna, the receptionist/bar girl was really nice. I saw her do more cleaning when she wasn't busy than the cleaners did in a whole day.
I have been to Greece 20 times & have never had a room that wasn't cleaned at least 3 times a week & have never been served half a glass of something.
Overall it was ok.
