“A Wonderful Holiday Hotel - always happy to stay here”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 June 2014

Spent our 5th two week stay (June 12th to 26th) at Minoa since 2009 (and many guests have been there ten times) - had a great stay again. Seaview room at the Imperial part (Room 769).. Why do we go back ? - such friendly helpful smiling attentative staff who work long days to make sure YOU are happy. Very good food in the restaurants (half board). Location on the beach is great for swimmers like me... Rooms are kept very clean. Surroundings, gardens and pools are a pleasure. Easy to travel to other places on Crete by cheap local buss for day trips when you get tired of the beach. Please see my other reports about this very relaxing friendly hotel. An hotel for all ages - families or couples. (Location - right by beach.. fortunately on the western outer edge of the very busy tourist factory of Platanias).

Trust me...you will enjoy your holiday here ....if not, there is something wrong with you ! There is a good reason why this hotel tops the list for hotels in the Platanias area on TA !

A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL STAFF AT THE MINOA - YOU GAVE US A WONDERFUL HOLIDAY - AGAIN !

R & I

Room Tip: Imperial seaview. Breakfast by the beach is wonderful way to start the day.

We stayed in Platanias for a friends wedding so our stay was short but excellent at Minoa. Very clean resort and they were very helpful with any of our needs. Parking was sooooo great if you have a rent car, they let you park for free in their underground parking garage which is very close to your room (if you are on the beach side). My only 'complaint' would be our TV never worked in room. We had 2 maintenence workers come out and their solution was flipping the breaker every time we wanted to turn it on (which slightly became annoying) and the breakfast restaurant stops serving breakfast (which was included with our room) at 10:30am which I feel is very early for a beach resort. We showed up at 10:30am and they still let us eat which was very nice and actually very relaxing because we were the only ones there :)

Defiantly a great place to stay!

Room Tip: We had a room on the beach and it was beautiful and quite

Our one week half-board stay in June 2014 exceeded our expectations by some margin. Being billed in a holiday brochure as 5* star doesn't always marry up with an individuals perception of high standard but it did that and more besides in this case. The staff were so very courteous and ever so friendly and went beyond the norm in ensuring our comfort. The room (ours was in the mountain side complex as distinct from beach side) was a large double with balcony overlooking scenic countryside. It had a mini bar with (importantly) a fridge which we used for our own drinks and tea making facilities and ingredients provided. As for the restaurant - my goodness, stunning setting, partly terraced; not only were we escorted to a table each morning and evening but the buffet selection which we had worried a little about, was exceptional in variety and quality, so much so in fact that although we had the choice of one of three restaurants, we were happy to stick to the buffet restaurant within "our" building. A member of our party had specific dietary requirements and was given an advisory tour of the buffet bars each day pointing out gluten-free options and each evening, given a specially and beautifully made & presented gf dessert - all part of the service. Nothing detracts from the 5* rating in my mind but I suppose if pressed my only niggle is that drinking water is not part of the meal and is charged @ 2.50 euros per bottle. Grounds, pool, bars and beach all superbly maintained. Although beach is sandy, it is pebbled at the point of entry into the sea so footwear needed if swimming. "Our" pool beautifully set in a garden environment but we spent most of our days at the beach which is accessed via a walkway (see photo) that spans the main road that divides the two parts that form the Minoa Palace complex. Absolutely nothing detracts my commending this hotel - fabulous - can't wait to return.

Big hotel with nice rooms. Stayed in a room with a private pool. Good breakfast. Some issue with the staff, some very friendly and others not so friendly. Tried the Spa which was ok. The other guests at the hotel was very nice and it is a good place to relax. If you want warmth and hospitality this is not the place.

Room Tip: 734 is a nice room

This is he second time we have stayed in this hotel complex and highly recommend. There are two parts to this large complex joined by a walkway over the road to the beach. It has two pools and several bars and 3 restaurants, all serving food to high standard. Service is good and they give a great welcome. We found it very relaxing during he 14 days we were there.

Room Tip: Mountain view rooms look good value but not ground floor ones which are overlooked from service road...

We enjoyed the hotel - good all round. We stayed in a room with sea view by the beach and it was spacious and modern, though note that it is north facing and hence the balcony was without sun. Breakfast was good and the room service was decent quality too (we were travelling with young toddler so it was handy to eat in a couple of nights). Local restaurants are plentiful and the resort is nice enough. Note the sea shelves very quickly so not ideal for young children (or even older ones to be fair).

We had a stunning room with our own swimming pool. Rooms are very spacious, shower just a bit on the small side . Staff very friendly . Breakfast very good and there is a big variety to choose from . Indoor swimming pool at spa but water not very warm . Thought paying 10 £ per person to make use of jacuzzi a bit expensive . Really enjoyed our stay there .
