This review is long overdue. I stayed at Dana Villa in May last year and it was a great choice indeed. From Dana Villa, you get an unobstructed view of the ocean and caldera irrespective of which room you are in as the electric cables are done underground unlike many other hotels and villas on the cliff. The view is majestic and most days there, I was perfectly happy to watch the sunset from my terrace at Dana. I stayed in the traditional suite. It's not big but of a decent size and has a loft which accommodates the sleeping area. The dining area and the pool is on the lower level whereas the reception is on the upper level (nearer to the street that takes you down to Fira) - in between, there are just loads of steps. Steps are a common feature on the island especially on the cliff side - your daily workout sorted without a trip to the gym! You'll need that workout after all the good food you'll be consuming there. Breakfast selection at Dana was good. While I was there, Athina was on duty most days - always smiling and chatty to every guest; nothing was too much for her. I had dinner there a few evenings too. Nicko, the chef always found time to come out and say hi. His shrimp saganaki is my personal favorite and one of the best I've tasted on the island - don't forget to leave the shrimp heads for the cats!

It only takes about 15mins by foot to get to Fira from Dana Villa; relatively close to the town centre but far enough from the hustle and bustle. Will not hesitate to stay at Dana Villa again should my travel brings me back to Santorini.

Room Tip: IMHO, rooms on the lower level are better as they are nearer to the dining area so you'd have le...

We visited during the low season, and although quite chilly, the views were uncomprimised. Each room has its own balcony, and I'm sure no other hotel would offer such a great view at such a great (offseason!) price.

This hotel is not for those with cat allergies (cats roam the property and have flared my allergies quite severly), nor those who hate steps, but otherwise, it's paradise. Also, the studio rooms are quite small, but you get what you pay for!

The hotel is beautiful and the view is just majestic. The sunsets are a pure delight to watch from the hotel. The breakfast place also offers excellent view. The hotel is also located right next to Fira which is the main hub in Santorini. The breakfast is the best we had in our stay in Greece. The only drawback is that we had to walk quite a bit to reach our room. So just going out of the room till the car was like a little hike so not recommended for people who don't want to walk or have a problem in walking

Room Tip: All rooms offer great view of the volcano.

We probably had the luck of the draw. Out of a group of 49, me and my partner were assigned to room 122 which arguably had the most picturesque view of the majestic ocean and mountains from a terrace. Sure, we did not have a jacuzzi inside, but the outdoor one was just beside us. Also, the breakfast place was just a few steps away. In just 2 days, we practically covered everything from the beautiful sunset at Oia, the ruins at Akrotiris, the restaurants at Pyrgos, the shops at Fira, the wine museum, castles, villages and more. Yet, be prepared for calf and thigh muscle strain as the 150 or so steps upward will certainly challenge your exercise tolerance (and you thought this was a vacation). Should have the same warning posted in amusement parks with extreme rides (elderly, pregnant, disabled, heart and lung problems, etc.) No wonder donkeys are well taken care of here; they ARE the delivery system. Good thing the hotel porters deliver your luggage to and from your room. So be awed by the beauty of Santorini but with a little price to pay.

Stayed here for 4 nights in December. The room we stayed was very pretty and unique. Was quite spacious for 2 people and the room was cleaned and maintained well. There was a pretty convenient kitchenette in the room - the only minus was the lack of a kettle which we found it a little strange. Apart from that no complaints about the room whatsoever. Breakfast was included in our deal and it was pretty good. The breakfast area has a lovely view of the sea and is very serene. From our room, we had an excellent view of the sea, the mountains and the volcano from the balcony. Cats are not unusual and don't be surprised or shocked to see few friendly felines when you step out of the room. The hotel is situated right on the cliff, like most hotels in Santorini. This makes the walk from the main road to the hotel a bit difficult. There are no 'proper' roads...so if you have a pram or stroller, it might be inconvenient. The hotel staff were quite friendly and helpful. We were helped with our bags when we checked in and checked out - would have been quite a task otherwise. They even helped us get our car booked at quite a nominal rate. Will definitely recommend this place - excellent service & clean room. Overall a pleasant stay.

Stayed at Dana Villas the night before my wedding. Overall the hotel is very good, but there could be some improvements.

The location is exellent. The vulcano view is spectacular, and Firostefani is a beautiful small town. However, the hotel is not suited for people with fysical disabilities, as there is a lot of stairs.

The room was clean and very beautiful. The only problem was the aircondition. We stayed three people in the room (me and the maids of honor), and two of us slept upstairs and one on the sofabed in the "livingroom" downstairs. The aircondition was situated in the livingroom. When we tried to cool cool down the room it became freezing cold in the livingroom but the bedroom on 2nd floor was still so warm that noen of us could sleep. This might work better if you are only two, as you dont have to listen to your friend freezing to death in order to cool down the bedroom.

The food at the restaurant was very good. The service was good, exept for the woman at the reception. She should at least try to put on a smile.

If you are considering having a wedding reception here, dont hesistate. You will not reget it, the location is just perfect.

This has been a great experience, the view is amazing. I enjoy the stay and the island even it was winter time. It was great because it was peaceful everywhere, no noise... Picturese were able to be taken without strangers in them. Service in hotel was very good! (a little maintenance is needed)
Just be ready to walk 10 minutes to downtown, and 10 back - hill to the hotel... and be ready for all the steps in hotel... :)
