“Beautiful views and fantastic service! ”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2014 via mobile

My husband and I stayed in Dana Villas for a much needed rest after a bus tour of Europe. We arrived very late at night due a flight delay but the porter was waiting for our arrival and was only too happy to help carry our luggage down the many steps to our room.
We weren't too happy with the room we had initially been given and asked for a different one with a slightly better view and more private type of terrace. The one we had originally was right near the pool area and other guests kept sitting on our chairs. After a quick call to the reception they found us a new room within an hour. We stayed in a traditional suite and it was fantastic, the bed was so comfortable and the room was neat and tidy. The views are what make this place, I never got sick of looking out over the caldera. The area is also very quiet and close to the main area of Fira which is a nice walk at night when it's not so hot.
We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone! All rooms have awesome views but Room 119 is the one we had and the views were breathtaking!

I stayed at the Dana Villas 2 years ago and still dream of it to this day! It was gorgeous from the moment we arrived. Our little room faced the pool with breathtaking views. The place was clean and completely comfortable. I stayed there with two other women and we would come back in a heartbeat.

The location was great because it was quiet and away from the hustle bustle of the city spot crowded with tourists. It was only a short and scenic walk to the main sites with many restaurant options all along the way.

Our reception staff Thanasis was a savior for us. He helped coordinate activities each day, calling each of the excursions and ensuring that our reservations were made, communicated pick up / drop off locations and made sure we were well taken care of daily. There was a snag where my dive trip was cancelled and I had to rebook with another company but Thanasis took care of everything and even met me after work, on his way home, to return my deposit from the cancelled trip. He was not only full-service, but also respectful and professional. It definitely mad the trip more enjoyable and relaxing.

I have nothing but great things to say about the whole trip, can't wait to go again and have referred my friends there as well!

Room Tip: Any of the rooms by the pool were great and near the breakfast area as well!

My husband and I stayed at Dana Villas on the 13th July for 5 nights and we had a great time, when we arrived we were pleasantly surprised when we were upgraded to the infinity suite it was really a jaw dropping suite, there is a gorgeous balcony with a plunge pool overlooking the caldera, with a huge sun bed to sun tan on, there were two bathrooms and two showers, 2 TV's a steam room and another pool inside!! which has a switch for changing lights and starting the spa jets and a switch where a waterfall comes out of the wall! it was an amazing suite, we were personally shown around the suite by the manager, i think his name is Porthos? he was so warm and caring and looked after our every need, we really didn't want to leave the hotel. after we saw the suite we were both so stunned that we sat on the balcony for 30 minutes just gazing out on the Caldera in disbelief that this was our suite! we were treated like King and Queen. we had free Wifi in our room exclusively for us and we had a cool TV that we could use internet on like a PC. The reception staff was nice especially the lady who was super friendly and helpful, we went to the restaurant of the hotel twice the food was nice, some meals were great and others average, the menu was limited in variety, the waiters were fantastic very friendly, I even had a cocktail especially made for me which was beautiful! the room service and gentlemen that helped with our luggage were great also, it was a great experience, the only downside I can think of is all the steps to get around to and from the hotel, to the restaurant etc but in saying that Santorini has steps everywhere!!! Overall we loved it, it was a great way to finish our trip around Europe. Thank you again to everyone at Dana Villa's :)

Room Tip: if I go again I would book the infinity suite 131

We stayed at Dana Villas in a Junior Suite in July and it was wonderful. The hotel is a great value; it was very reasonable for the location and accommodation and easily had the best views on the island.

The room was very large with a separate living room, bedroom and small kitchen. Everything was clean and there was a lot of space. We also had a private terrace off our room with unobstructed views. We lived on this terrace during our stay! Our unit did not have any buildings on one side, which made it even more private (This is very hard to find in Santorini, as everything is built on-top of one another). The hotel also had a small pool, which is essential if you travel in prime season because the sun was VERY strong. Our unit was only 8 steps from the pool which was super convenient for a quick dip.

Breakfast was included in our rate and it was great. Lots of variety and the waitress, Maria, is a doll (and quite hilarious).

The hotel only had a few cons, which didn’t necessarily bother us, but good for other travelers to note:
- Our room was located directly above the restaurant, so the kitchen vent was on the side of our terrace. If something was cooking, we were smelling it. BUT the smell was only on our terrace and seemed to only affect our room. And despite this smell we chose not to complain because of the location of our room and privacy (the positives outweighed the smell).
- The male receptionist wasn’t very helpful. We asked him to call and confirm an excursion and he told us to use our phone and it would cost money. There was a nice female receptionist but she was only there on our first day.
- The bathroom could use some updating and the lighting isn't great - but then again it's vacay so who needs makeup, right?!
- There are A LOT of stairs, 180 to be exact from the road to our room, but we didn’t mind. This is part of the Santorini adventure. If you go to this island, expect stairs!
- The breakfast hours are a little early, I believe it only goes until 10am, I would prefer it to have started an hour later and end at 11am (I mean it is vacay, right?).

I want to reiterate how great this hotel is. I have a friend who is about to pay almost $1k/night for a comparable hotel in Oia and the main difference is that one is more modern/updated - and I don't see this being enough justification for spending that kind of money. I should also mention that this hotel is VERY close to the bus, which was super simple to use. It cost $1.60 euro/pp to get to Oia and the buses come frequently.

This hotel may not be the most trendy or luxurious, but you cannot go wrong for the cost. If I were going back to Santorini I would stay here again and recommend it to others!

Room Tip: Splurge for a junior suite with a private terrace, just make sure it's not the one directly abov...

We booked our accommodation at Dana's because of its pool and panoramic views, which were spectacular. We had the family suite that was very cosy and even had a terrace overlooking the caldera.
Like many places in Santorini, beware of the steep stairs! From the reception to the main road in Firostefani there were 81 steps. However, the rooms are located further below and the pool even lower (= more steps)! From the pool to the main road there were over 200 steps, which made us think twice about going for a swim in the pool or going to the buffet breakfast area. Tip: for an extra 3 euros, order your breakfast to your room and avoid the stairs!
The downside about Dana is that all the members of the reception staff are rude and unfriendly! Everyone else, from the gentlemen that helped us with our luggage to the bar man at the pool, were wonderful.
