We stayed in this hotel with a couple of friends last summer and it was very very pleasant! The location is magical, very close the the center of the life of the island! The pool was really nice and the guys at the bar were very kind and friendly and they gave us a lot of tips for the island, as well as the people at the front desk (Maria and Evan)! The rooms are very comfortable and nicely decorated, and generally it was the best hotel experience ever!

We booked a room for our honeymoon and the room flooded (for it was raining during our first night)! We woke up in the morning and realised the floor had been covered with water; our ipad (left on the floor during that night) was malfunctioning; and our suede shoes were destroyed. Though the manager of the hotel transferred us to another room (which was slightly bigger than the old one), he was unwilling to compensate us for the shoes, and also pretended that nothing had happened regarding the ipad! Eventually, we left the ipad dry for 2 days and we were lucky enough that the ipad started working again...Nevertheless, that was not the case for the charger (which had been submerged into water). Only after our complaints, did the manager of Sun Rocks finally agree to replace the charger for the ipad (the cost of the charger was trivial compared to the price we were paying for the room). The manager of Sun Rocks also informed us -to our surprise- that he could have transferred us back to the old flooded room (after the staff had cleaned it); and mentioned that this would have been the standard practice in the hotel (as if we were responsible for what had happened in the first place)! This is certainly not the kind of customer service you expect from a luxury hotel (or any hotel). We understand unexpected things may happen; but on such occasions, it is the hotel that needs to take full responsibility for the inconvenience caused to the customers; also treat customers with respect; and certainly compensate them for any losses due to flooding. There are several other wonderful hotels in Firostefani; we suggest you pick one of those, instead of Sun Rocks, just to be safe your room will not be flooded and get the customer service you deserve (and pay for).

We have just returned from a trip to Sun Rocks mid Oct 2013, we loved every minute. A beautiful small hotel, the staff were lovely and we will definitely return again soon. The hotel feels so peaceful yet is so close to a whole selection of great restaurants. A perfect place for couples.

Transfer service from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to the airport: the driver, Adonis, is a very fine gentleman. We had the pleasure to enjoy both trips with him.

Front desk: Evita (front desk) took great care of us and fulfilled all our requests with efficiency, professionalism and courtesy.

Bellboys: there are no words kind enough to describe the willingness and efficiency of these two young men (George and John). They always perform their tasks with a genuine smile on their faces. In a place with so many steps and no elevators that attitude is really especial.

The room: we stayed at room # 115 (junior suite). Room design and decoration is lovely. It features the classical Cycladic architecture: cave like room, white washed walls, blue windows and door. Having a real key to open the door added to the charm of the experience.
I really don't mind all the steps to get to our room, but this time the room was only 63 steps from the front desk and 44 steps from the breakfast place. After all, coming to Santorini and expecting not to climb stairs would be like going to a beach and expecting not to see sand.
The suite was very big and featured very nice amenities: bathrobes, slippers, delicious toiletries, CD player.
There was a bottle of wine and a bowl of fruits in the room at our arrival. The King bed was very comfortable.

Elea restaurant: this was an exceptional experience. The restaurant has only one table in an open air space, facing the caldera. This translates in an incredibly romantic moment.
The dishes were beautifully presented and prepared with quality ingredients. Our server, ILIAS, was simply fantastic. He is highly professional and puts all his heart in what he does. He combines a commitment with quality with a great passion for his profession. That makes him one of the most valuable assets at Sun Rocks.
Note: the restaurant used to have 4 tables but the place where it used to be was converted into a suite now. Sun Rocks web site still shows a picture of the "old" restaurant. I uploaded a picture of the new one which has only one table now. You can truly say that you have reserved the entire restaurant for yourself!

Breakfast: they start serving it at 8 but I was there at 7:30 to enjoy the view and calmness as the day starts. The place where they serve it is fantastic, an open space with a breathtaking view of the caldera. Variety was great and quality of ingredients was outstanding. They served Greek pies, omelets, cheese platter, Greek coffee, croissants, marmalades, etc. You also have the choice of a hot American breakfast but I preferred the Greek one with all the traditional pastries, cheeses and pies.

Wine tasting: this was a very nice experience, enhanced again by our server Ilias. We tasted six wines, all from Santorini: 2 white, 1 rose, 2 red and 1 Vinsanto wine.

Spa: facilities are good and services provided by the therapists (Athena and Dodo) were excellent. A bad note was the undergoing construction at the spa site that greatly diminished our experience. After the massage was finished we were invited to the pool and an unbearable noise started (like a hydraulic hammer or drill hitting concrete). I understand that was beyond the control of the therapists but having known this in advance we would have asked to have the treatments in our room. I think we should have been alerted about this at the moment we made our appointments.

There were some minor maintenance details that need to be addressed: towels and sheets worn out, faucet cap was missing, sun beds at the pool worn out and asking to be replaced or repaired.

In summary, this was our second stay at Sun Rocks (first time was back on 2008). Service continues to be superb. General upkeep of the property is very good.
Evita, Ilias and Abiel provided particularly excellent service.
Thank you Sun Rocks for another fantastic stay!

Room Tip: For those concerned about the many steps in Santorini, room 115 (junior suite) is half way between t...

We were staying at Villa Katikies in Oia for a week at the end of Sept 2013 which we were reasonably happy with. On the last night, we were offered to try out their sister hotel, Sun Rocks staying at one of their honey moon suites. The hotel location is perfect with stunning caldera view and it's within walkable distance to Fira plus quite a few resturants nearby. The suite first appeared to look more spacious & attractive. However, it became apparent that the bathroon door was creaking very badly as the deco was slightly dated. Worst of all, there was only one air conditioning unit in the living room with the bedroom being very hot & stuffy and furthermore, wifi only worked very occasionally as the suite was situated furthest along the cliff. The hot tub in the living room took almost a day to heat up and we had only a short while to enjoy it as we needed to pack & ready to leave for the airport that morning. All in all, we were not impressed by Sun Rocks and would perferr to stay put in Villa Katikies.

We stayed at Sun Rocks at the beginning of September, we got there just as high season ended and the weather was perfect. The wedding coordinators for the hotel made it very easy, I felt like I did not have to do any work at all!!!
The room (#21) wasn't exactly as pictured in their photos and thats why Im giving 4/5. We were hoping for the cave like experience and our room was not like that at all. The room was very private as we were at the very bottom of the resort, however, you could no sleep in since the room was under the pool deck and beside the kitchen. There was also approx. 140 stairs to the top so if you are lazy or not good with stairs, you would hate this room. We were upgraded on our last night to a "sister" hotel from SLH chain and it was amazing.
The staff was amazing, Maria at front desk was helpful in every possible way! She drew maps for us every time we wanted somewhere special to eat, or to certain places to go on the island. Her suggestions were perfect, and definitely made our trip perfect! THANK YOU Maria. The staff at the pool side restaurant was also amazing, and the food was one of the best that we tried on the island!

x THE WOW FACTOR x

After our booking another hotel was wrecked up, we thankfully - and very happily! found accomodation at Sun rocks.

Arriving at Sun Rocks, right from the moment our toes landed on the 1st step, we were welcomed with warmth, professionalism and a fully engaged desire from Evan to make our stay in Santorini a magical memory. Every staff member was fully attentive, subtle in their ways and smiles, and made all effort to make us happy and comfortable.

We were upgraded to the honeymoon suite and Evan brought down an icy cold bottle of Moët for us, and a delectable fruit platter of strawberries, kiwis and juicy cinnamony apples ! What a way to begin our stay in Fira - wow! X

Breakfast was incredible! Full of flavor and great presentation, super fresh produce and the coffee was fab!

Room no.23 is definitely the one to be in - thank you SUNROCKS - your memories are held in the highest place !
