“LOVED IT HERE!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 September 2012 via mobile

My two friends and I stayed at Villa Ilias this September. It could not have been better. The view, the breakfast, the warm hospitality given by Pauline and George.. And the rest of the staff, the cleanliness of the rooms.. It was just what we wanted. We loved being a little away from Fira Center.. Altho we were still close to it.. 5min-10 walk.. We enjoyed the quiet of Firostefani at night. Plus, there a million restaurants and shops on the way to Fira.. Santorini is heaven and I hope to return one day soon!

We stayed at villa llias for 4 nights. We had the most memorable stay. It is perfectly located away from the hustle and bustle at the same not very far from the restaurants /shops. We could enjoy undisrupted caldera view as well as the sea view from the balcony. It was always very quiet at the villa which made me and my partner feel like the villa was our own private escape. We both experienced a beautiful moment watching the sun go down with a bottle of wine. The housekeeper is a very quiet and sweet lady who doesn't even make you feel like she is around. We will surely stay there again.

We stayed at Villa Ilias for our wedding anniversary in Sept 2012. We were given discounted rates plus a complimentary pickup from the airport to Villa Ilias for the rooftop room. (paying cash.. it was another 5% disc). The room is quite small & compact with kitchenette BUT with private balcony overlooking the sea & caldera plus 2 private sun decks! The view frm the rooftop is magnificient ! 360 deg of santorini island plus unobstructing views of sunrise & sunset .....

Location of Villa Ilias is very quiet and peaceful yet its only 15 mins of stroll to Fira. Pebbled footpath to Fira is full of stunning views. There is a mini supermarket within 2 minutes frm the villa. Restaurants and tour agencies are of walking distance frm Villa Ilias.

Breakfast is a spread .. i luv the chez & egg pie and the peach juice. yummy !

We took the local buses to Oia & Perissa. Firostefani is very close to Imerovigli. We walked thru Imerovigli & it was fun.

Pauline & George (George Clooney lookalike) .. they are such helpful & frendly hosts.

Room Tip: exclusive rooftop room 14 @ 360 deg views of santorini (plus sun rises & sun sets too)

Mr. George and family were very nice. Enjoyed stay and sunset view. Great spread of breakfast. We stayed in the room by the pool.

Walk to Fira was a good experience. We also went to Oia for sunset. Hired car for a day to visit different beaches.

Our favorite accommodation of our holiday on the Greek islands! Very friendly staff, delicious healthy breakfast every morning, stunning view of the caldera and sunset. Firostefani is a great location too -- just far enough from the tourist traps of Fira, but close to the activity of it all and easy to get to Oia and Fira.

We stayed at this resort for a week (Aug 18-25/12) to explore the island of Santorini. Upon our arrival from the main road there was really nothing that highlighted the special qualities that this Villa had to offer. It was only after the friendly and informative reception from Pauline who took us to our room that we realized we booked into a great location. We were taken aback as Pauline walked us to our room with the caldera view overlooking the pool. The view was unbelievable!

The room we were assigned was nicely appointed and the location of Villa Ilias was aptly suited to our needs and desires - within walking distance of the capital Fira with its many shops and restaurants yet far enough away from Fira to enjoy the peace and tranquility of our Villa. I cannot say enough about the stunning panoramic view of the island form out Villa where often watched the cruise ships jockey for position. We took many a sunset shot from the pool deck where many I believe many postcard like pictures has been taken in and around Villa Ilias.

We often did the 10-15 minute hike down the pedestrian pathway to enjoy an evening dinner or stroll thru Fira. The breakfast offered at this resort was good with enough variety to meet our nutritional needs before we ventured to explore the communities and beaches that the island had to offer. We ventured to a few locations by bus but also rented a quad for 2 days to go to the lesser traveled beaches and towns. Pauline was very helpful in pointing out various attractions and restaurants for us to consider.

We were surprised by the number of wineries as well as the historical sites on the island. Ancient Thera as well as the enclosed Acrotiri ancient city are sites to see for the archaeological buff. For the beach lover - red beach and the beaches of Perissa, Kamari are a few worth checking out among others. The community of Oia is gorgeous with it's stone walkways, restaurants and its chapels with their blue painted domes. The hot springs and Volcano hike were ok but the hype around them did not meet my expectations.

Our Villa was home after a day of exploring or beaching and we appreciated the attentiveness of our hosts. On our last day in which we had to leave at 6am Pauline provided us with a breakfast to take with us while George the owner ensured that our taxi ride picked us up at 6am sharp. He even provided an emergency contact number in the event the taxi did not show up on time. Thank you George and Pauline! We truly enjoyed our time at your resort Villa Ilias where you made us feel most welcomed! We do hope to see you again one day!

Room Tip: Chose a room with a Calder View

My partner and I stayed here at the end of August 2012. We had a 'superior room with caldera view'. We were on the top floor and had our own balcony which overlooked the pool, deck and had a view along the edge of the island down to Fira town and also an excellent view of the sea and the caldera (volcano). The views of the sunset are perfect from the balcony here. The hotel is well located, you walk down a pedestrianised, cobbled road into Fira town centre, it takes about 10 or 20 mins to walk in, you soon meet little shops, cafes and there are little paths and steps to different areas. It is close to lots of good places to eat, easily walkable, all with fantastic views of the sea and sunset and close to the cable car and museums. The breakfast terrace does not have a sea view, but is really nice and is out in a little courtyard in front of reception with flowers above. There is a nice hotel cat called Felix. The breakfasts were nice, there is lots to choose from, the usual and then also homemade pies and cakes such as spinach pie, cheese, ham and onion pie, banana bread and lots more. The room we had was big, and had a fridge, wine glasses, bottle opener, plates and cutlery etc - you could choose to stay at the hotel and just hang out and have meals on your balcony and watch the sunset. The room had TV and DVD player, there is a large collection of DVDs you can borrow from reception. The room and bathroom were very clean. The owners are lovely and are in reception to answer any questions or provide advice or help, they go out of their way to make your stay comfortable. They can arrange taxis, trips, lend towels, store bags, you can use the phone and they have a computer with internet available for guests to use. The staff are not in your face, just there when you need them and the place has a homely feel while still being very clean and professional. They have put a lot of thought into what guests want and it shows as you will be unlikely to have any problems with this hotel. We really recommend it. Only thing to note is that the more basic rooms on the ground floor have their doors and windows opening right onto the deck and pool, so other guests will be hanging out there on sun loungers and using the pool right outside your door and room, also as someone has already mentioned, you won't have a great view of the sea from your window on the ground floor, but you can always go out onto the deck. Other rooms at the side of the hotel don't overlook the sea view or pool, they overlook the cobbled street into Fira and the pale blue dome of a church on a whitewashed roof, so it is still a pretty view, but not as nice as the rooms with a sea view. Also, in case it is useful to anyone, we are a lesbian couple and were made to feel very welcome here without any problems.

Room Tip: get a top floor room with balcony with a view of the sea and caldera (volcano), rooms on the ground...
