Its hard to know just what hotel to choose when visiting a place like Santorini for the first time. You know there is going to be a lot of walking up and down stairs and paths in such a hilly place but you also want good rooms and service. We chose the IRA Hotel in the end because it was slightly cheaper than another bigger hotel down the path that had been recommended to us.
We were extremely lucky to have chosen this place. The staff could not have been more helpful, from the owner who met us on the arrival to the woman who put on such a wonderful breakfast each day. The rooms were all different and we were lucky enough to have one which opened out onto the pool; this meant a few more steps to the road but still not too many.
It was a gentle 20 minute walk down to the 'action' at Fira but there was plenty of good food located closer to us at Firostefani.
Lounging around our pool occupied an important part of each day, watching the cruise boats come in and leave again and taking in the sunset at night.
Our rooms were spacious and contained everything we needed. I am not sure if they could have been any better. Definitely recommended for a peaceful few days in a luxurious settingMore
