“Stunning hotel with views to die for!”
Reviewed 17 July 2012

Hotel Ira is an incredible value compared to the other hotels of similar quality located on the caldera, as it was 50-60% cheaper than comparable places. The hotel is magically laid out with a bunch of little paths and foot bridges. Having booked a room without a view since it was considerably cheaper, it was especially kind of the staff to upgrade us to what I thought was perhaps the best room of the entire hotel, the Iris Room. We not only had views overlooking the caldera, but the room was big and we had our own private little bridge and walkway to our room. All of this for no additional cost. The man working the reception (sorry I forgot the name, but we stayed at so many places during our 6 week trip) was super laid back and easy going, as well as friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is perfect as you are only a 15 minute walk into Fira along a gorgeous path, yet far enough away from Fira where you can escape the frenzy of tourists and have some peace and quiet, especially in the evening. The pool of the hotel is nothing spectacular, but the pool deck is a great place to hang out on and watch the sunset. One thing that made this hotel stand out from the rest on our trip was the breakfast. Truly a fabulous breakfast with great tasting food and a varied selection that changed daily. This hotel is a must when visiting Santorini and we would surely stay here again. Thank you for such a great stay!

The hotel is in an ideal location about a mile from town. The views are phenomenal and the staff is very friendly. Rooms were clean and the hotel was the best one I've seen on any Greek Isle. Ira hotel is a must stay

Its hard to know just what hotel to choose when visiting a place like Santorini for the first time. You know there is going to be a lot of walking up and down stairs and paths in such a hilly place but you also want good rooms and service. We chose the IRA Hotel in the end because it was slightly cheaper than another bigger hotel down the path that had been recommended to us.
We were extremely lucky to have chosen this place. The staff could not have been more helpful, from the owner who met us on the arrival to the woman who put on such a wonderful breakfast each day. The rooms were all different and we were lucky enough to have one which opened out onto the pool; this meant a few more steps to the road but still not too many.
It was a gentle 20 minute walk down to the 'action' at Fira but there was plenty of good food located closer to us at Firostefani.
Lounging around our pool occupied an important part of each day, watching the cruise boats come in and leave again and taking in the sunset at night.
Our rooms were spacious and contained everything we needed. I am not sure if they could have been any better. Definitely recommended for a peaceful few days in a luxurious setting

Room Tip: You need a view if you visit Santorini but there are several outdoor areas in the hotel that capture...

I just need to add up to the positive reviews of this hotel. My family and I were very impressed as well with its location. Overlooking the volcano and with a panoramic view of Santorini, this place is a welcoming treat to its guests from sunrise to sunset. Our rooms were spacious enough and very well kept. The staff are also helpful in making sure that we have the most of our vacation. The welcome never ends because the manager allows us to use the pool even after our check out since we still have a lot of time to wait before our departure. As written, the hotel is just a 15 minutes away from the main town. The path itself will have so many restaurants and stores to choose from and a perfect spot to catch the beautiful sunset. I highly recommend this place.

The staff of this hotel are friendly, attentive and helpful and made this hotel experience one of the most memorable if the trip, ahead of higher * hotels we stayed on other islands.

About a 15 min walk or 2min quad bike ride from the main town we loved waking up to the view of the volcanoes and cruse ships sailing in. Sunsets were taken on the most amazing rooftop terrace.

Overall an excellent hotel.

Wonderful hotel, like a fairy doll house. Located in the excellent location with breathtaking views of the Caldera, opens directly out of the bedroom. You can spend your whole vacation just on the balcony admiring the view.
Clean, excellent service, friendly helpful attentive staff, nice swimming pool , close to the center but quiet location - ideal for a romantic vacation.
We will definitely return again.

Room Tip: Take a room overlooking the Caldera

This is a terrific hotel in an incredible location that offers great service.

The rooms are spacious, airy and on the Caldera side offer an amazing view.

The breakfast buffet has a limited selection but all of it is fresh and delicious. Make sure you try the range of home made pastries cooked by the lady who runs the breakfast.

Traveller tip - Don't rent a quad from the shop directly opposite the hotel (they are not well maintained), head 300m down the road and you'll find a range to choose from in Firostefani.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for a Caldera view - it is worth every cent.
