“Amazing view you wake up to every morning!”
Reviewed 20 May 2014 via mobile

stayed at Villa Remvi in May 2014, after endless internet search over rooms with a view that suits my budget. Remvi ticks all the boxes, and I had such an unforgettable time there.
The photos on internet say it all, it's definitely what you're going to get, a postcard view that makes your heart skipped a beat.
Location:
Being located on the cliff means it's windy and can be a bit chilly in the morning and evening.
Fira is 10 minute away when you take the path along the main road, but the path along the cliff takes a little bit longer.
Firostefani is not so crowded and more relaxed than Fira, but still within walking distance from the shops and restaurants.
Room:
Small but cute and cleaned every day. WiFi inside the room (I stayed in room 5) is almost non existant, sit in the balcony then you have better connection.

First of all, you should decide which town to stay in. If you don't mind walking for around 20 minutes (you can also take a bus that leaves every 20 minutes) Firostefani is a great choice. After making that choice, now you should prioritize what you want to do/see during your stay in Santorini (considering how many days you will be staying).
We were in Santorini last August which is the highest point of the high season, which translated into super high hotel prices. Having said that, and considering that most of the the time we would be out of the hotel, Villa Remvi, had just what we needed...a comfortable bed, a clean room (quite small but this seems to be "normal" in a lot of hotels through Greece) free breakfast and an AMAZING view of the Caldera!
Actually the Hotel's main attraction is its restaurant (because of the view) and if you stay here, you can start or finish your day right in front of your room...at your private balcony! (I believe room 4 & 1 are 100% private.
If you are looking to stay at the hotel during the day, enjoy the swimming pool, gym etc...this is not the place! When I read those reviews about "the receptionist barely speaks English" or "there is no reception area" two questions intermediately pops in my mind 1. is this the first island you are visiting (this seems to be "the rule" for many hotels around Greece (specially the English part). 2. Didn't you notice that there were plenty of other hotels that costs at least $80 more? In other words...you get what you pay for!
It is important to mention though that Villa Remvi is located within walking distance from Fira/Thira (where you will probably spend a lot of time).
So...after you have done everything... when you already finished your souvenir shopping, donkey ride, museum visit, dinner/ sun set watching in Oia (after pushing and being pushed to get "the best" spot)...Wouldn't be nice to "get home" and enjoy a glass of wine while enjoying those last few moments of the day...that is exactly what you can do from the hotel's balcony! As a matter of fact, watching the sunset from here is simply amazing!

Room is clean and small (cute). Love the orange bedsheets and orange color of the villa itself.. Very serene, lovely view of the caldera while sitting in the terrace and far from Fira which is good coz Fira has lots of people and very busy..
This villa has a restaurant underneath and the food is great.

I would come back to this facility in the future..

This hotel was not terrible but you can do much better elsewhere. Namely the Hotel Gallini across the way was much better! Firstly, this hotel has no reception area. The staff barely speak English, the rooms are small and old. (small is typical of Santorini but these are just dingy) It took me a while to figure out what's wrong with this hotel. I finally figured it out. This is not a hotel. This is a restaurant that has some rooms attached you can stay in.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else

First day in the teeny tiny shower (sectioned by a shower curtain that doesn't touch the base) the hot water pipe scalded a spot on my arm and i'm not even a big person! sadly there's gonna be a scar.
And water pressure is really low, unbelievably low, need to spend double your normal shower time because of that.
Then room keys are attached to a card you need to slot in for electricity in the room, and room door has to be opened/locked using the keys both from in and outside. So you expect customers to lock the door from the inside in the dark and THEN turn on the lights (using the key+card)? Needless to say I separated them.
Otherwise all good.

I can only comment on the restaurant as we stayed in Fira but it was well worth the walk! We had a long leisurely lunch and two evening meals there and all were very good. The waiting staff are really good and never try to hurry you to order we usually would first have a drink then would order starters then another drink and then order our mains....the house wine is great value for money and try the fish of the day it's good! We will be going back in May next year!

Room Tip: Book a table outside and watch the Sunset!

Having booked months in advance paid a high price, after being recommended to stay at Remvi I have to say within a day I was totally disappointed...

The room was tiny. Could just about get in the bathroom and close the door. The shower was temperamental and very weak. The toilet was difficult to flush, we would have to leave it for hours before being able to flush it, which is not ideal in such a small unventilated room. The fridge would not stay on, repeatedly turning off all our milk based drinks and fruit went off. The breakfast was poor. The juice was absolutely disgusting, you could taste how cheap and it was. Although the waiters were friendly the woman in charge of the bookings was very rude, disorganised, and unwelcoming. Refused to accept that we weren't happy with the room. When it came time to pay she had no idea that we had paid a deposit even though she was the woman who we had spoken repeatedly via email and on the phone when making the deposit months in advance.

The island is so beautiful and there are so many nice accomodating places available I would definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone. You can get much nicer places for your money still with the amazing views and accesibility to the town centre.

Room Tip: Room number 6 seems to be the best the couple next to us seemed very content...
