We really enjoyed our stay at Gaby's. It is located overlooking the caldera with wonderful views of the ocean, the setting sun and a beautiful blue roof church. Everything was in excellent condition and we had several delightful evenings having our "sundowners" on the balcony with the gorgeous views of the water traffic, the cliffs and surrounding islands. Rooms are equipped with a fridge, electric kettle, coffee and tea and dishes and silverware. The caldera footpath is in front and you can walk on it to the old town area on one side or all the way to Oia (3 hours) on the other. I look forward to visiting Gaby's again sometime.

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful stay at Gaby's this week. It is located on the caldera (the gorgeous cliffs dropping down to the ocean) with an incredible view of the ocean and the sun setting over it. After walking around the island, this was the best sunset we found. Walking distance to lots of restaurants and cafés. The proprietor, Catarina, was helpful at recommending restaurants, ATV rental companies, etc. There is also silverware and dishes in the room, along with a fridge and an electrical kettle.

A few notes: there are technically two "Gaby Apartments" on the island. Our cab driver didn't know which we meant. One is on the street and one is on the caldera (I have no idea what the one on the street is, or if it's affiliated). If you take a cab, specify "Firastefani" (the pedestrian area it is located in) and "on the caldera". That should help! Second, our "double" bed was actually two single beds pushed together.

The only reason I'm giving 4 stars for the room rather than 5 is that it was a bit bare. But, it was only €130 for two nights, with a private balcony view of a killer sunset... Overall, I'd say this is a fantastic view from a very clean room for an affordable price. Recommended.

We stayed at Gaby's Apartments for five nights and were so happy we did. First of all, the apartments are located along the edge of the caldera with magnificent open views of the sea and surrounding islands. The place is extremely well-run by Gaby's daughter, Caterina, who grew up in the house. Caterina is a treasure and we also loved meeting Gaby. As others have noted, the rooms, while simple, are spotlessly clean and the beds comfortable. Our room (#1) was on the ground floor and had a shared balcony just above the caldera footpath. We were concerned that it might be noisy because of pedestrian traffic on the path, but that was not the case. We had a small kitchen area with frig which was perfect for keeping breakfast supplies and a chilled bottle of the delicious local Santorini wine, and enjoyed coffee on the balcony in the morning and a glass of wine in the evening while watching the sunset. A 2-day strike took place during our stay and Caterina was very helpful about calling to check on which things were open and closed. She also arranged for a car rental that allowed us to drive around the island (highly recommend doing this) on our last day, and then leave the car to the airport the next day. The price for the car was very reasonable and this was much more convenient than relying on a taxi. Gaby's seemed to me like the "real" Greece!

Besides the amazing view and the lovely accommodations, we were most impressed with the hostess, Katerina. She was amazing. The room was super clean, and the amenities were everything we needed. We stayed in an upper floor apartment with an extra loft bed area. The view was astounding. The room was perfectly situated to maximize the view, and the balcony was big and shaded. We love that we were not in Oia, which is the most touristy part of a very touristy island. We will definitely stay at Gaby again.

Basic spacious room. Spotlessly clean. Freshly painted. 10 minute walk to Fira. Fridge and A/C worked great. Didn't need to leave your key in the slot like we experienced at other hotels in Greece. Our king sized bed was two twins pushed together. Handheld shower is basically a plastic tray with no curtain. Added to the charm. Hostess arranged an early morning cab to the airport. We stayed on the top floor overlooking the famous blue doomed church and three bells. Would definitely stay here again.
