The people who run this hotel are the nicest people I have ever come across in business! Nothing was too much trouble and they are so friendly. The room was clean and kept clean daily, the pool was lovely and there is a fridge in every room. Please remember this is a 2 star hotel, so review it as such. Although we loved this hotel, bear in mind its location is not ideal. Its on a main road with idiots roaring down the road all night long on quads and bikes. I would definately never recommend this hotel to a family as all stairs have no banisters and pool has no gated area and is near to main road so not very safe. Saying that we loved it here. It's a real treck to the beach and there are no real pavements so you must be very aware of vehicles.

We stayed a couple of nights at this hotel and we were disappointed that it was so far from the beaches (a 25 minute walk) and our room was on the road side (set maybe 20 feet back) and so traffic noise was a problem. Bathroom could use some maintenance and towels and bedlinen weren't great (one skinny pillow each). Breakfast was the worst I had on the island, bread with packaged jam and butter, coffee and basic juice and it was €4. We had much better at the other hotels we stayed in on Santorini. However, the price for the room was very cheap so it made up for the breakfast. The pool is a great size and we were the only ones using it the whole time we were there - sadly again, it does get impacted by road noise when trying to relax/sunbathe.

The Lonja Hotel is a small, budget priced accommodation located at the edge of Perissa on the Emporio/Fira road. On the down side although it is on a main road some mile or so walk away from the beaches the hotel is set back slightly and rooms face either the pool/terrace or towards the sea and rooms are soundproofed so that no traffic noise is noticeable and a peaceful nights' rest ensues. The walk to Perivolos and Perissa 'Black' Beaches takes a good 20/25 minutes however there is a bus stop just a few yards up the road for those who rely on public transport and/or there are plentiful car, motorcycle and quad bike hire outlets to get around easily. Lonja is situated well away from the main drag of bars and tavernas so it is quieter with fewer people around but there is a very good supermarket and a sprinkling of eateries as well as an ATM machine close by. The rooms are well equipped with a fridge, air con. and nice little bathroom and breakfast is available in the basement dining room if required however we chose the option of late, relaxed meals of fresh bread, fruit and greek yoghurt from the local shops sat on our room balcony enjoying the glorious sunshine. The swimming pool and terrace are perfect for relaxation and are set against a backdrop of the impressive Mesa Vouno, Profitas Elias and Panagia Katefiani; a small church tantalisingly set up in the rock (see photos). Adonis, the proprietor his wife Georgia and family Panagiotis and Spiridoula are the nicest people you could wish to meet - naturallly friendly, welcoming and easy. Airport/Port transfer can be provided and nothing is too much trouble. Overall Hotel Lonja is a very reasonably priced, simple, unfussy and laid back place to stay. It is perfect if you wish to get away from the crowds and is ideally situated to explore the whole island of Santorini. Apart from the obvious visits to Akrotiri, Fira and Oia try Pyrgos for it's interesting buildings and stunning views of the island, Faros for a different perspective of the caldera (a great fish restaurant just along from the lighthouse) and Imerovigli for breathtaking scenery and a sunset to match Oia's but without the crowds!

N.B. at the time of our holiday my girlfriend was on crutches with damaged ankle ligaments. The Lonja has few steps and was easy to negotiate and being so close to the most important amenities would suit people with walking difficulties or who have trouble getting about.

I spent 5 nights at this hotel and was quite content. Paid 50 euros per night, deposit by credit card and balance paid by cash.
The only drawback was its location: I thought it was closer to Perivolos than Perissa and it was a hike to restaurants and the beaches.
I had rm 4 which was very clean and well-appointed. Loved hanging my wet suits to dry on the balcony.
TV was mounted high and the screen was small; could have used 3 pillows to prop my head up to watch comfortably.
Tub had seat in it for a sit-down shower which I enjoyed.
Owner's daughter was very helpful, accommodating and understanding.
The owner's son picked me up on my first day where the local bus had dropped me off, in Perissa, which was far to walk with my luggage.
Pool was hardly used by anyone except myself and a vivacious friendly bunch of young Italians. The shower by the pool was handy, except when it was turned off. (There are no showers at the beaches.)
It was noisy at night because of the mopeds/scooters and quads zooming up and down the main road where the Lonja is situated. I had to close my shutters and windows to keep the noise out.
Breakfast was 3 euros for coffee/tea, bread, jam/butter and tea biscuits. You can eat more and pay more at the numerous tavernas down the road into Perissa.
Carrefour supermarket was very nearby to stock the bar fridge.
Bus stop nearby to catch bus to Fira (capital city) for 2 euro.
Loved the room and my time in this part of Santorini!
