Description: How often have you been asked to come to the kitchen to choose your meal? At Taverna Lava we are still living this old Greek tradition, every day. Our philosophy is to provide you an unique food experience for all your senses. We will surprise you every day with home cooked greek delicacies like eggplants rolled with feta cheese, capers and rosemary. Pick your fish - not just what kind of fish - but exactly which one you want and we will grill or fry it freshly for you. Fresh is key for us. Please don't expect us to have fish during full moon or a stormy day - its impossible to get fresh Santorinian fish. Additionally, we partnered up with local farmers and procure produce of Santorinian soil: eggplants, courgette, small tomatoes, wine and much more...If you are tired of choosing from an endless menu, visit us - we will have something new for you to choose from every day.

Wow! Went here yesterday based on the reviews on Trip advisor and hotel recommendations. We are from NY and enjoy great food. We were very impressed. The stuffed tomatoes and eggplant were out of this world. You have to go here.

We visited the Lava restaurant during our stay in Perissa in May 2014. This restaurant has a charming 'rustic/shabby chic Greek' personality that distinguishes it from the other restaurants on Perissa Beach and is at the quieter end of the strip. The food choice on the menu is smaller than in other restaurants we'd visited but the manageress is likely to offer variations on your chosen dish: for example, I went for the mussels (which were absolutely gorgeous!) with pasta, and had the choice of either a red or white sauce even though the dish was only stated as 'mussels and pasta'. We were left with the feeling that our meals had been cooked to suit our own individual tastes - such a refreshing change to the 'one size fits all' approach. Our wait here was slightly longer than in other restaurants we'd visited but we were given some tasty complementary bruschetta while we were waiting and were perfectly happy to just sit and watch the world go by over our carafe of wine. I'd recommend this restaurant to couples looking for a relaxed, traditionally Greek, evening meal on Perissa Beach.

Came here twice on a four day trip to Santorini. The mussel saganaki was amazing and moussaka too. Right on the water, can't beat it!

We came to this taverna for dinner and had our best meal during our 7 day trip in Greece. They have a menu with a good few fresh options, rather than hundreds of them - which other places do, and that can only mean that nothing is fresh! They usually have a few options for fish of the day. We went for grilled sardines and sea bass, and it was just amazing. Portions are generous and price is competitive. The service was great too. The lady looked after us but without being overly attentive, which is good to have some intimacy. She also brought some complementary dessert. Thanks for such a nice meal!

Ate in this restaurant on 5 of the 7 nights during our visit to Perissa, Santorini as we had superb meals and fantastic service. Food was freshly cooked, the mussels saganaki on there own and with pasta was beautiful, stuffed white aubergine (traditionally served cold), fried cheese, Greek salad Lava style and black bread gorgeous. Warm Raki with honey was very warming and soothing as an after dinner drink as the evenings are cooler. Fresh melon and cherries for dessert were lovely and also tried some traditional cake, with nutmeg and cloves.

Met some lovely customers and had relaxing evenings with great food well worth a visit.

On our last night there was live music from two Greek musicians.
