“Great location”
Reviewed 18 May 2011

What I liked most about Zorzis was the location. It is just minutes to walk down the beach, bars and shops are across and along the street and prices are considerably lower than on the other side of the island.
I hope to return soon.

A friend and I stayed at Zorzis for a week in May. Right from the start, we were impressed by welcome we received from the Hotel's owners Spiros and Hiroko, who were always on hand to offer advise, share a joke, and occasionally a glass of wine!

The Hotel itself has ten bedrooms, a shared breakfast room, an outdoor pool with Jacuzzi, and plenty of space for lounging in the sun. Our room was one of the smaller doubles, but we were forewarned of this, and it didn't prove to be a problem. Besides, our room had a great view, overlooking Mount Mesavounos. The room was clean, unfussy, and comfortable, with air-conditioning, a tv, and kettle on request.

The included breakfast was simple, healthy fare typical of Greece, with yoghurt, honey, fruit, bread, tea and coffee, juice etc.

The pool area is as well-maintained as the rest of the hotel - clean and simple, surrounded by a well-tended garden, creating a very peaceful atmosphere. This is primarily a hotel for couples and friends, so the lack of noisy kids helped the atmosphere too!

Zorzis is clearly a labour of love for owners Spiros and Hiroko (apologies to them if I'm misspelling their names!) and they set the tone for it perfectly. They were never too busy to stop and chat, were endlessly helpful and friendly, and never short of a smile.

In short, Zorzis is a hotel run with love and care, and provides the perfect base from which to explore the gorgeous island of Santorini

The Zorzis is a boutique hotel with spacious, sparkling clean rooms and a beautiful pool area. It is on the main road, about 200 metres from the beach and its wide array of bars and restaurants. The owners, Hiroko and Spiros, live on the premises, and they treat their guests like family. We shared wine and good conversation, and Hiroko even posted something that we left behind to us here in America at her own expense. My wife and I travel a lot, and this was the best hotel experience that we have had in the last 10 years. I recommend the Zorzis in the strongest possible terms, but Perissa is sufficiently remote from Fera and Oea that a rental car is a really good idea if you want to get the most out of your time on the island.

For me, the Zorzis was nearly perfect.

Being budget conscious, I have to talk about the price first. The hotel is an amazing value (I went during the shoulder season). For the price of some U.S. motels, you get a beautiful room in a great area. I also received an unexpected discount for booking through their website (http://www.santorinizorzis.com/).

The hotel is beautiful and immaculate. The rooms were a good size, they all have little balconies, and the rooms were beautiful (it's the kind of room you would see in a magazine). There's a nice pool. A breakfast was included with cake (they eat a lot of cake in Greece and Turkey), bread, fresh fruit, and a big bowl of Greek yogurt. It's filling. The WiFi worked well.

The owners were super nice. They probably know everything there is to know and were very helpful with directions, fares, etc. Their English was very good, if that matters to you.

They recommended a restaurant called Ntomatini on the Perissa beachfront. It was by far the best meal I had on vacation, though it might be a little expensive if you're on a budget (my meal was about 20 euros). I would say that the meal was worth more (I would seldom say a meal was worth $30 usd). There were many cheaper options near by. Other than restaurants, there weren't a lot of other stores nearby. The grocery store is a little bit of a walk but the "town" isn't too far away by foot.

If you're taking the bus to get there, there is a bus stop very close to the hotel (not the Perissa terminal). Get out when you see a "Dorian's Pub" sign on the right or a "Metemi Club" sign on the left side of the road. In May, the buses were infrequent and often late; this was a little bit of inconvenience. In early May, parking seems to be plenty so I'd probably rent a car the next time.

Perissa, in May, is a quiet little town on Santorini away from the noise of Fira, the main town. If you want to be in the "middle of it all", this is not the place for you. On an early morning, you can see farmers tending to their fields. Being on the east side of the island, you don't get the famous sunset view from the hotel.

A fun outside thing to do is to walk over the hill to Kamari (via Ancient Thira). It was surprisingly quick (less than an hour) despite a long stretch of scree.

We stayed here for 7 nights at the beginning of May. Hotel Zorzis is a lovely place to stay, its cleanliness is the first thing you notice as you come in, it smells so fresh and everything is bright and spotless. It has been fully refurbished recently and looks as if it is continuously maintained to a very high standard.

The room we had (room 9) was a comfortable size for us and faced the the pool and mountains to the rear. It was very quiet at night and the rooms are well soundproofed from the outside. The little balcony got the sun in the morning and after 5pm at this time of year. We made use of the fridge in the room for storing drinks which was very convenient for us.

The hotel is situated within walking distance of all ameneties, there are several little supermarkets, 2 bakerys, 2 ATMs, the beach and loads of bars and restaurants within a few minutes walk from the hotel. We hired a car for the duration of our stay and the hotel has a carpark where we always had a space.

The owners are very friendly and welcoming, it is clear that they take great pride in providing such a high standard of accomodation and service to their guests. They deserve the Travellers Choice award that they've received and the number one spot for Perissa. We will be going back to Santorini and hotel Zorzis will be our first choice.

Room Tip: Upstairs and facing the rear are rooms 9 and 10

It is close to all bars and wonderful restaurants,we will certainly be back.

We spent two nights at this hotel, one at the beginning of our trip and one at the end, and really don't have much to complain about. The hotel is clean, well maintained, modern and comfortable. Good rooms, although a little on the small side. The front desk staff were courteous and helpful and breakfast was excellent (greek style- with cheese, ham, bread, spinach and cheese pies, pastries and cereals). I would recommend.

Room Tip: good experience
