“Quite possibly the friendliest place we have ever stayed!”
Reviewed 22 May 2012

We have just returned from a wonderful week at Zorzis hotel. I found the hotel on Tripadvisor and we were certainly not disappointed with our choice. On arriving we were warmly greeted by Spiros and Hiroko and were shown to our lovely room which had two balconies and was perfectly clean. Having stayed in Greece before we were expecting a basic room but were pleasantly surprised to find we had air conditioning and a safety box. The hotel was spotlessly clean and decorated in a very tasteful way and the gardens that surround the building were beautiful. The pool area was peaceful and the whole week we were there only saw a few other guests using the area so it almost felt like we had it to ourselves. Breakfast was an event in itself with the choice of yogurt and honey, a selection of fruit, bread, cake and great coffee which would set us up for the day. Staying there felt more like staying with friends and we felt so relaxed and able to come and go as we pleased. When we returned after an evening meal we enjoyed spending time chatting to Spiros and Hiroko who were able to give us information about the island and suggestions on places to visit, they were always interested in what we had seen that day and made a real effort to ensure we were having a wonderful time. We hired a quad for part of our stay and explored the island and although lovely to visit some of the other resorts we felt that Perissa was definitely the nicest area to stay in, far more relaxed and chilled out then Oui and Kamari. The hotel was in a great location and near to the beach and the main strip of restaurants, of which there was so much choice all serving great greek cuisine. I would highly recommend holidaying in Santorini, its a beautiful island, and I would highly recommend staying at Zorzis hotel. We loved everything about our holiday and would definitely conciser returning in the future.

We got a lead on this hotel on Trip Advisor and selected it on that basis. We had not been to Greece before, did not know the different areas in Santorini and made our decision where to stay on the Island based on the reviews on Zorzis Hotel from TA. I can only say we were very happy we did. The hotel is immaculate. Although the hotel is 15 or more years old it is like new. It is apparent that Spiros and Hiroco (the owners) take pride in their place. The grounds are beautiful with flower gardens, trees and plants that are unlike any other hotel in the area. There is a lovely pool that is well maintained, in immaculate condition and has a wonderful view of the mountain behind the hotel. The rooms themselves are relatively small but well appointed and again in excellent condition. The beds were great. The doors and balcony doors/windows are all new and of very high quality. Again a reflection on how Spiros and Hiroco have invested in their Hotel. Each room has a balcony which is a very nice touch. Internet is complimentary and works great. The hotel has 10 rooms and a very nice, bright common room where Hiroco and Maria serve free breakfast every morning. A great way to start the day. Although not fancy the hotel itself is well designed, clean, updated and has a wonderful laid back feel to it. Spriros and Hiroco are what make Zorzis Hotel that much more special. They are a delightful couple who are pleasant, helpful, considerate and appropriate. You get the impression that they are very proud of their hotel and put everything they have into making it a positive experience for each of their guests. They both provide excellent recommendations and are available to assist but are not intrusive in any way. Both Spiros and Hiroco make you feel comfortable asking them for assistance and recommendations. The location of the hotel worked out very well. Very close to a very nice beach and lots of good restaurants - a 5 minute walk to both beach and restaurants. We had a vehicle and it was a short trip to get to Fira, Oia and other locations on the island. Overall we could not have been happier with our choice of hotels. If we get back to Santorini (which we hope to do) there is no question that we will be back at Zorzis Hotel and would highly, highly recommend this hotel. We loved our visit to Santorini and our experience at Zorzis Hotel and getting to meet Spiros and Hiroco was a treat.

This was our third trip to Zorzis and we were met with the familiar warm welcome from Spiros and Hiroko that attracted us to the hotel on our first visit.
The hotel is immaculately clean and our hosts ensured that our every need was attended to throughout our time in Santorini. We were given a lovely room facing the front of the property which had two balconies ,tea and coffee making facilities, fresh towels and sheets every day ,toiletries in the bathroom and seperate towels for the pool.In fact everything was perfect !It is perhaps the personal attention that Spiros and Hiroko give to all of their guests that makes this hotel so special .
We will never tire of this hotel and we have already planned to return next year!!

Zorzis:
I'm going to try to write this review without any hyperbole, and I say that, because it's this hotel that actually prompted me to start reviewing on this site after being a troll, using other people's reviews for years now....

Ok, so this is probably the best hotel in which I've ever stayed. The fanciest? No. The smallest, biggest, most expensive...no, no, no. Nothing superlative about this hotel except for the experience - which, in my humble opinion, makes it the best I've had the pleasure of patronizing.

For starters, it's intimate. Just 10 rooms, and the owners, Hiroko and Spyros, plus one staff (Maria). This massively jacks up the personal attention factor. Not everyone's cup of tea, but it's honestly pretty hard not to like. In our case, they literally anticipated our arrival. Hiroko was waiting outside the hotel, as we walked up the road with our luggage, to ask "you're the couple from Switzerland, right?" That just gives you a sense of the personal attention, and dedication to providing an excellent experience that they provide.

The rooms are smallish, and again, you're not staying here if you're seeking luxe. The smallish rooms are however immaculately cared for. Everything, just like the island itself, is stark white. They literally repaint all the furnishings and the hotel itself every year. If something was dirty, you would know. The windows in the room are stellar. I know, windows right? Who ever pays attention to windows? Well, these are airport grade, 6 pane windows imported from Germany - and they are DEAD quiet. This sounds weird, and isn't something that I explicitly noticed until Spyro described them to me. My wife commented repeatedly about how quiet the rooms were despite being adjacent to a major road with tons of 2 cycle motor scooters and mopeds speeding by at all hours. Later in our stay, we had our answer, and the windows explain it. You get a phenomenal nights' sleep and sheer tranquility whenever you want it. It's this kind of detail that puts this place on another level.

The breakfast is above average (fruit, bread, Greek yogurt, coffee), but again, it's not at the luxury price-point so you're left happy in this category as well.

If you're in need of guidance for tour options or sight-seeing opportunities, Hiroko is more than willing to lend a hand. This isn't something that is unusual in the hotel world, but the personal experience and warmth of delivery that help make the advice special in this case.

My wife and I left the hotel wishing we had skipped our leg to Crete and stayed in Santorini a few more nights. It also had us wondering what it might be like to retire managing a small hotel. Hiroko and Spyros are exemplary in that regard. They make you feel 100% welcome, and envious of how much they seemingly enjoy their responsibilities managing the hotel.

All this is to say that my wife and I probably didn't have a representative experience. The disclaimer is: "your experience may differ," but I have no problem whatsoever giving this hotel the highest marks possible. In short, the star system does not matter at Zorzis, there is something other than stars that make it shine. Please do yourself a favor and make this your obvious choice when visiting Santorini.

Room Tip: Ask for the pool view to see if it's available.

I loved, loved, loved, this hotel! It was quaint and beautiful, airy and spacious. I loved the feel of the bright, clean, white space, complemented by lovely, colorful flowers and green foliage everywhere. The rooms were very accomodating: comfortable beds, modern, chic bathrooms, everything you need, plus a perfect little balcony to look out from. The pool was so relaxing and most of the time we had it all to ourselves! We were about a 3 minute walk from the black sand beach which was lined with all sorts of charming restaurants. I haven't mentioned the best part of our stay which were the hotel owners, Spiros and Hiroko, who made the whole experience wonderful. They are the kindest couple who went above and beyond to make our stay the most inviting and comfortable experience ever. They were wonderful at suggesting the best places to see on the island and are lovely just to sit and chat with. It may sound like such a heavenly place must come with a hefty price tag, but this hotel was completely affordable for 4 college students on a budget. If you go to Santorini you absolutely must make it a point to stay at Zorzis Hotel.

This hotel was very inviting and charming and the owners, Spiros and his wife, were terrific hosts. Our room was small but very inviting with a small balcony. There is a very nice and spacious [pool in back with great flowers and a view of a huge mountain. The included breakfast was very good and plentiful. Sprios' recommendations on where to go and where to eat were extremely helpful. The black beach was within easy walking distance and had nice restaurants. Lastly, the room rate was extremely reasonable. This is a great place to use as a base.

Room Tip: We had room 4 which had the largest balcony.
