If you are looking for a place to relax, unwind and enjoy the delights of Santorini then a stay at Meltemi is a must. You only have to view all the other comments to see why. Santorini is a beautiful island and Perissa has plenty to keep you interested. Athea welcomed us warmly and after a little chat and a drink showed us to our room with it's double jacuzzi. The whole place is clean and tidy with the staff working hard each day to keep it that way. Nothing is ever a problem, the breakfast selection is ample and the pool area never busy. We did not want to leave such a lovely place and are already planning our return.

We stayed at Meltemi Luxury Suites for two weeks and had the most amazing holiday. The hotel is fantastic and Athena absolutely deserves the wonderful comments she receives. She is fabulous and makes every guest feel welcome. She always has a smile for you and if you're prepared to try to speak a little Greek, you'll really make her day.

On arrival, we were greeted with a small glass of wine and check in was quick and easy. Our room was a little basic but perfectly clean and adequate and had everything we needed. We had a little terrace and were literally 10 steps (we counted!) from the swimming pool.

The location of the hotel is fantastic. As other reviewers say you are central for everything in Perissa and bus links to other areas seem to be good. The bins did not bother us one bit. They were away from the main walkway down to the beach and really are not worth commenting on!

Breakfast was great every day. Athena welcomed us every morning with an explanation of the food on offer. The eggs were fantastic. Give the spearmint and sesame seed one a go. Sounds weird - tastes amazing! The music also gave us a giggle most days. Who doesn't want to listen to Morning Has Broken while sipping their OJ?!?

There was never a scramble for sun loungers. Most people tended to go out for part of the day then return to the pool at various times so quite often there would only be 4/5 people by the pool. The whole pool area was tranquil and so relaxing.

We hired a car whilst in Santorini and would really recommend this to get out and see the 'stunning little island'. Athena was more than happy to sit down with us to point out places of interest and spent 45minutes really giving us insight into how to get the best out of our trip. Her tips were invaluable; particularly alternative viewpoints for the famous sunset, which meant we could avoid the crush of Oia and Fira.

In our 2nd week we upgraded to a large suite at the back of the hotel. One word: AMAZING! The room was absolutely stunning with lots of space and a fantastic roof terrace with a huge private jacuzzi and sun loungers. The view from the roof was lovely and we really enjoyed the feeling of totally being away from it all.

All in all, we had a wonderful experience and would certainly recommend Athena and Meltemi Suites to anyone wanting to visit Santorini. Thank you for a fantastic holiday :-)

After just returning from a 2-week holiday in Santorini, my boyfriend and I could not think of a better place to have spent it than the Meltemi Suites. We understand that reviews are entirely dependent on the individual’s expectations (which can differ significantly), therefore we can only give you our honest thoughts and feelings on how this hotel made us feel, but this might not appeal to everyone. As we have read in previous reviews, we were met and greeted by Athena who oversees the daily running of the hotel. She gave us a small glass of Santorinian wine and some general knowledge about the island, as well as some other things to be bear in mind during our stay. We found Athena to be totally endearing and we built up a very good rappor with her during our stay. She has a great sense of humour and her memory is something else! As the previous reviews also state, she really is beyond helpful and there is no doubt in my mind, that our stay at Meltemi Suites was so much more enhanced by her. The hotel itself has been designed beautifully with a traditional Greek, rustic charm. The pool was gorgeous. There’s approx. 15 sunbeds around, be it by the pool or on the sun terraces but there were always beds available when we wanted them. There is a Jacuzzi on the sun terrace above the breakfast area, which is available for anyone to use. You’ll probably see a rope across the stairway to it, but Athena told us this was just because the marble steps can be very slippery. Everywhere else was ‘pretty’ with lots of flowers and climbing plants. Our room was admittedly basic, but perfectly fine with plenty of room and clean sheets/towels were provided every day. There was free aircon. I did notice there were no drawers to put clothes in but really?! Put it this way, we managed just fine. Breakfast was (in my eyes) excellent! You will not get a full english here but that was fine with us. There were always cereals, fruit, salad, Greek yoghurt and pastries, as well as eggs (be it scrambled, fried or omelettes), but better so, there were homemade, traditional Greek dishes to try each day too. These dishes might not be to everyone’s taste but we loved them!! Breakfast was from 8-10. General feel of the hotel is a laid back, quiet one with some nice bar music playing in the background. This is an adults-only hotel and this was one of the main reasons we chose it. To echo what others have said on their reviews, turn right out of the doors of the hotel towards the beach road where the main bars and restaurants are and yes, there is a small number of unfinished buildings that lay between, but if you are small-minded enough to let this bother you, then you will be missing out. Turn left out of the doors and this takes you to the other main road where you will be able to catch the bus into Fira. There are plenty of bus stops (they run every half hour and are usually on time), as well as various other bars and restaurants dotted along here. We did not have a bad meal during our stay. We’re enthusiastic about our food and different cuisines, so we did our best to eat as many traditional greek dishes as possible, and we were spoilt for choice. We were happy to see that most restaurants provided traditional greek food, but if that’s not your thing and you prefer a hot dog and chips, you won’t go hungry. To be honest, we pretty much stuck to a 500m radius of our hotel because that was all we needed! Our favourite places to eat were Atlantis, Gods Garden, Pergola, Acropolis , Apollon and Ntomatini. Our two favourite bars were Tranquilo’s (who also do awesome food) and Visanto’s. These were the only two venues that seemed to have live music on fairly often (brilliant singer/guitarist every Weds/Sun in Visanto’s), although Noma Bar & Grill and Meltemi Cocktail Bar also have music on every Sun. If we can recommend a good tour to do, then do the ‘Sunset Cruise’. It cost if €65 each but worth every penny. Pick up mid-arvo, drop off 9:30pm. Price includes a tour around the Calderra and other islands, a swim in the hot springs, as well as a 4-course meal on one of the islands and then off to watch the sunset from the boat. Also recommend the wine tasting at Santo Wines. You’ll need to get a taxi but is another good way to watch the sun set and generally a good experience. We did jet skiing which cost us €54 for both of us on 1 jet ski. Horse riding available if you turn left out of the hotel, just opposite Dorian’s. Cost me €30 for 1 hour but beware he will want extra if you actually want to ride on the sand by the water. We did visit Kamari while we were here. There’s a boat every 30 mins from the ‘rock’ end of the beach but the last one from Perissa is at 17:00 (last one from Kamari is at 16:30)and after that you will have to either use the bus or get a taxi, which takes surprisingly long seeing that it’s only on the other side of the rock!! Personally we were not ‘feeling it’ in Kamari like we did with Perissa. There are more restaurants and bars and admittedly a lot more happening over there, but we found it overwhelming and all of the restaurant/bar staff pestered you to go in. The beach is also much narrower AND you’re RIGHT under the flight path, at the end of the runway! Anyway, I understand that this is meant to be a review of the hotel and not so much about Perissa, but I think that other pieces of information like this are always useful. On that note, I will wrap it by just once again reiterating what a lovely, idyllic place this is to stay and how welcomed you will be by Athena. Perfect location, perfect hostess, perfect comfort. Up until now we have never wanted to revisit the same place because of there being so many other places to see, as well as the fear that it will never be the same, but Meltemi Suites, Perissa and Santorini as a whole is different - we will definitely be returning.

The location of the hotel is superb as is between the main road and beach so such an easy stroll to get anywhere. We had a room with jacuzzi splash pool and it absolutely made the holiday. We would spend the day on our sun loungers with music playing and using the jacuzzi as a splash pool. We also walked to the local market and got some of the local wine from the barrel and would sit on our balcony as the sun went down. Heaven. Tranquillo at the beach is the number 1 place for lunch. Chilled out, huge tasty salads and ice cold beer. A return in the evening to tranquillo pre evening meal means you get to see the moon on the sea and is so beautiful. For authentic food head to lava which is just passed tranquillo they have some amazing home cooked dishes. Gods kitchen is also good. All in all simply amazing. We will definetley return

We first arrived at meltemi suits for our honeymoon where Athena meet us to show is out room and a arrival drink, we also had a complementary bottle of wine in our room. Athena's heart is bigger than the island and she will bend over backwards for you. We asked here about places to visit as we rented a car, she spent a good 45minutes with us and a map telling us all the beautiful places, which where amazing the island is so amazin! People have mention about the bins if they put u off ur holiday, I don't think u will be happy anywhere! We have bins in the uk, like they have too it really isn't a big deal just don't look a them if they offend you! We will be retuning back to the meltemi suits for our anniversary, Athena and staff made every minute magical for me and my husband!
