We arrived back home from Santorini a couple of days ago, with a genuine passion to return here. Our first holiday to Santorini was made so special by staying at Meltemi apartments.

The hotel is situated in a quiet side street which connects the main road in Perissa with the beach road, making it a great location with only minutes walk to so many shops, bars and restaurants.

Our standard double room, while quite small, soon became a home from home, and Athena and her small team of staff did everything to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The rooms were cleaned every day with fresh bedding and towels, the pool and bar area always immaculate, and the breakfasts were always full of choice and delicious. Being a small hotel, it was so easy to get to know the other guests, and we met some great people over the 2 weeks.

If you are considering a holiday to Santorini, Perissa is a great little resort, which is so relaxed and laid back and so much quieter than other places on this island.

Is Meltemi Luxury? Well, the taps are not gold plated and there are no Chandeliers, but what it lacks in luxury fittings, it makes up for in warmth, hospitality and a genuine effort to make your holiday as wonderful as possible. I would not hesitate recommending this place to any couple wanting a quiet and relaxing holiday.

As mentioned in other reviews, the half board option is not worth the additional money. There are plenty of great restaurants within a 10 minute walk. Also, while the larger suites are nice, we were not in the room for long enough to warrant spending the extra money on upgrading.

One thing to note, ladies or gentlemen with long hair, that while they do have hair dryers in the room, they are not very powerful and I regretted not taking my travel dryer with me. I will be next time!!

I have recently returned from Perrissa where we stayed for 14 nights at the Meltemi Luxury Suites. Whilst I would agree with others, the luxury is stretching the description, this did not affect our stay in any way. The suite we had was well kept, clean and tidied everyday. Everything worked and the air conditioning was spot on. The grounds and facilities are well maintained especially the pool, in which I spent a lot of time. A small complex, it adds something in it being very personal. You get to know everyone and are not just another faceless visitor as in larger hotels. Extremely friendly was our experience.

The thing that sets this place apart is undoubtedly the staff. Superbly led by Athena the hotel manager. She is the font of all knowledge for Santorini and it is never too much trouble for her to give advice and recommendations. The breakfast choice was varied and always had a local Greek speciality prepared by Athena.

The location is great for the beach front restaurants and bars. We used the Acropolis, Apollon and Volcano on a regular basis. It is also well situated for the bars on the Main Street. Dorians and Bob's bar being great value and fun. Just up the road from Dorians is the best Taverna in Perrissa in my opinion. It's called "Gods Kitchen" and is a must to visit. Try the meat sharing platters.

Other highlights are a visit to Fira. Take the bus it's really easy. For that sunset special night, visit Oia. Avoid the main throng of people and use the terrace bar of a small bar near where the coaches park. Have a leisurely bottle of wine, watch the sunset and take loads of photos.

All in all we had a great holiday here, in the company of great people. We will definitely be returning.

Most of the reviews about meltemi luxury suites do say it all and are worth spending the time to read. We just wanted to add our thoughts to the growing list.
As far as the suites themselves well they are not 'luxury' as in a dictionary definition and maybe that should be explained in the brochures but they are functionally all you need. Worth the 4 stars for where it is and the staff rather than the actual accommodation itself nevertheless practical enough ( after all it's not as if one needs much more and I have been in far worse).
Athena and the staff really do want you to have the best time ever and as such will bend over backwards to help, assist or do as much as they are able to see that you do.
The suites are excellently placed for beach, supermarket, bakery all you need really. The pool, sun beds, breakfast all fits the bill.
Perissa itself has a strip running along the black sanded beach not fine but made up of tiny Pebbles and shale. It's clean relaxing and award winning with a range of restaurants and bars with a Main Street running up from it and the suites are excellently placed within five minutes stroll of all the shops supermarket bars and restaurants and beach. Buses run regularly from the end of the road and it is an excellent base to be able to explore Santorini itself.
Recommended places include Yazz bar along the beach for that lazy day on the beach with each bar having its own section of sun beds and fixed Palm leaf shades.
Fratzeskos fish tavern is a ten minute wander along beach front and is fab - if you like freshly caught fish and feel like choosing your own.
If you are craving a decent coffee/cappuccino even made with 'skinny' milk if you specially request it then go to the corner snack bar just a step further on from Fratzeskos.
If you are a shopper pop into the Old Cellar or 2friends for something different.
Catch the water taxi for a jaunt round To the next resort where there are plenty more shops bars and restaurants, although we found the beach there far more crowded then at Perissa.
If you are there with Thomsons the excursions are generally worth considering in particular 'SImply Santorini' if only for the visit to the winery -the view from there was spectacular and the 'cruises' - offer a different view of the Caldera and Island itself and are just a bit different.
You can make your own way around and many guests do as it's easy and relatively cheap to do so.
It's very very busy but get to Oia for the sunset - or alternatively Acharavi is apparently equally as good but less busy.
All in all it was a fab break, great people, lovely island, and did what a holiday should - lets you be relaxed, chilled and go at your own pace with no pressures.

I have just enjoyed one of the best holidays I can remember.
We stayed at Meltemi Suites and although it was a late booking, we couldn't have found a better place to stay.
I have to start by saying that the Manageress, Athena was one of the main reasons our holiday was such a success. What a fantastic hostess. She made us feel welcome the moment we arrived and was so helpful during our stay. Nothing was too much trouble and her advice on what to do and where to go was invaluable. I must also add that her staff were extremely pleasant and very helpful.
We had probably the best breakfast buffet and I can remember. All locally produced food and traditional Greek fayre, which Athena kindly guided us through, explaining the ingredients and the way it was cooked.
The swimming pool and surrounds were kept extremely clean, and the whole ambience was extremely relaxing.
Our rooms were comfortable, with a little kitchen area, which consisted of a hob and fridge, which came in very handy.
The fridge was well stocked, and all drinks were very reasonably priced.
All in all, a great place to stay and to enjoy this beautiful Island.

Room Tip: Upper ground room, although the ground level rooms were located around a beautiful courtyard

My girlfriend and I had the most amazing time at the Meltemi Suites. The apartments are perfectly located 1 minute walk away from the main high street and 1 minute from the stunning black sand beach of Perissa. The apartments are picture perfect, too, and the images on this listing capture them exactly as they are. Believe me when I say, you will not be disappointed.

Athena and Roy made every effort to make our stay as special as possible, from welcoming us on the first evening with a drink whilst checking in, right through to putting on a fantastic spread for breakfast each day. They were every bit as warm and welcoming as you'd expect the beautiful Greek people to be.

We had no problems getting around the island using taxis, but be prepared to call, and call, and call. They won't take bookings, so you have to catch them at the right time. They actively encourage you to call back every 15 minutes, though, so don't feel like you're hassling them. The longest we waited to book a taxi was about an hour, but it's no hardship cooling off in the room or sunbathing alike. There's no rush when in such a gorgeous country.

There are a small number of silly reviews for these apartments, scoring them terrible or poor. Have a read, and see what you think. You have to question the motives and intelligence of one who rates accommodation as "terrible" before they've even set foot in the country. I dread to think how their holiday went having set the scene in such a pessimistic style. Again, rest assured, the majority of the reviews for the Meltemi Suites are well-informed and accurate.

Enjoy your time in Santorini!

Ps. There's a beautiful bakery down the road. Check my other reviews, and you'll see what I mean. It's called the Santa Irini Bakery.
