“Don't base a holiday on tripadvisor!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 July 2014

We booked this holiday last minute and did not have time to do much research. A quick flick through the tripadvisor reviews told us many people had thoroughly enjoyed their trip, and since we were keen for our last-minute deal to be a great idea, we were happy to ignore the various bad reviews. We wish we hadn't! The hotel itself is very basic, which you might expect for the price, but also lacked any special touches, and really felt like the owners did not care much about the upkeep. To call some of the rooms apartments seems a little generous, since it was a normal hotel room, with a fridge and a sink, and the fridge turned off when you took your hotel key out of the slot to go out, resulting in gone-off milk, warm water, and melted chocolate.

The maid came every day, but only emptied the bins on most occasions. On our first day I was feeling quite unwell and had planned to stay in bed a little longer when the maid came barging into the room. My boyfriend stood at the door and asked if she could please return a little later, or even leave our room for the day, and she refused, at which point two of them came barging in.

The 20 minute walk into town is another generous exaggeration. We consider ourselves fairly fit, but one would have to run to reach the town in 20 minutes. Perhaps this would not have been such a horrible experience if the walk had not been down the side of a motorway...Certainly we would not have chosen this hotel had we known this was the case!

The staff on reception were friendly, and could not do enough to help, but this was really not enough to make up for the poor accommodation and horrible walk to and from town.

We were also woken at various hours of the night with people shouting in the corridors and knocking on all the doors down the corridors...

Room Tip: If you really HAVE to stay here make sure you don't get a room over or even near the bar, you wi...

Was a bit sceptical after reading some if the reviews further down but when I got here I realised you xant please everyone.
Hotel is quite basic and good value for what u pay, its spotless and for all the time u spend in ur room you have everything you need. maids come every single morning and not every 2 days as I was expecting Change the beds and give you fresh towels. Staff are so friendly and welcoming too. Food at the pool bar is top notch there's such a variety to chose from, its open to 8am-11pm and there's another bar which opens to around 6am for those late drinkers.
No rave music blasting morning noon and night, music at night time bar and a big tv for the football and music beside the pool. For those who are thinking about bringing kids there wouldnt be any problem as there was kids there when I stayed. There are a few Bars and a supermarket just 10 mins down the road and its a pleasant walk, ans just a further 5-10 mins into the town centre. Personally I couldnt fault this holiday other than I only booked a week nd I would definitely recommend for anyone travelling to faliraki

Would actually give 3.5 as above average. Location good-not on the doorstep of craziness but a gentle 20minute walk max from bars, clubs and restaurants- didnt have one bad meal, stifado or kleftico dishes are winners. Beaches are beautiful- I would recommend ladiki or anthony quinn bays- absolutely beautiful great for snorkeling, 20 minute walk. Hotel is basic but nice, the staff are lovely, our first room not brilliant, very small and not very clean (carpet on floor- never good abroad) however after requesting a different room the owner was very accomodating and organised it staight away- bigger, tile floor, clean and more sociable balcony. For the money the achousa does the job and your a hop, skip and a jump away from the beautiful beaches that rhodes has to offer.

Just returned home from a fantastic week at the Achousa! We booked a last minute bargain with Olympic Holidays which was allocated on arrival and were really pleased to have been booked into this hotel. We travelled as two couples and are aged between 35 and 51 and the thought of ending up in a club 18-30's property in the middle of Faliraki was a bit worrying. We like to party but the thought of 24 hour partying round the pool was not really our thing. The location of the Achousa was perfect. Great quiet location about 15-20 mins walk down to bar street and the beach and the nearest supermarket was about 10 mins walk. The rooms are fairly basic but the maid came everyday apart from Sunday with clean sheets and towels and the shower worked just fine so we were happy. Air conditioning was reasonable at 40 euros for the week. The pool bar was open everyday from 8am to 11pm and served a good range of food from a full breakfast, omelettes, burgers and toasties to full meals in the evening and the bar is open till late and does some fab cocktails. The food and drink was pretty reasonable too. The pool is lovely and was never overcrowded. The family that run the Achousa are brilliant and they made our stay what it was. We were sorry to leave and will definitely be back. Thank you all for a fab holiday that saved us from our Glastonbury blues!!

Room Tip: We had rooms on the first floor overlooking the pool area

Just back from a weeks stay at the achousa! A lovely hotel and we were pleasantly surprised given how little we payed for the holiday! We had a night flight and even though we didn't arrive until very late we were greeted by the excellent staff who checked us in as quickly as possible - they also provided us with food even though the restaurant was closed. The rooms were extremely clean - and cleaned every day - and the beds were so comfy! The pool was very clean and a great size. We ate at the bar a few a nights and the food was nice and very reasonably priced. It is quite a walk from the hotel to Faliraki centre but it's not so bad when the weather is cooler. There's a bus stop right outside the hotel though which is great if you want to go and see Rhodes town (which is really beautiful!) We went self catering to the achousa and I would have liked a kettle and or a toaster as we had to use the frying pan to make toast - there also wasn't a whole lot of hot water, but other than that a really fantastic stay at the achousa!

OK people firstly lets be realistic! Me and my GF spent a week here and loved it!

I met a few couples here last week who were not happy with the accommodation. For the price and a last minute deal this place was more than enough! for a place to lie your head it was perfect! if you want a hotel or apartment to stay all day then maybe this isn't for you!

However If you want a place to stay just outside of the party zone then Achousa is perfect. It was quiet and tranquil. The pool area was lovely and perfect for sunbathing or taking a dip! The pool bar was welcoming and prices were very competitive. Their menu had a mix of everything and was perfect for light lunches before heading out in the evening.

The rooms are NOT PERFECT! but like I said perfect for lying down! that's all you need after all! however the rooms are cleaned and maintained daily and this is a family run establishment so you cant blame them for being a bit lazy when it comes to refurbishment. All staff were very helpful and reps were always on hand to help.

If you are staying here then remember to stop by the fruit man at the entrance on the road. He is very welcoming and sells beautiful fresh fruit juice for 1 Euro. he will let you try some fruit and will have a chat with you! it was lovely giving him some business. The beach is a realistic 15min brisk walk! 20min stroll in the heat for sure so maybe not suitable for less able bodied people or the lazy holiday makers.

Enjoy

Room Tip: Air con was 40 Euro for the week! if you don't sleep well in the heat it is an absolute must. Gr...

The best thing about the place was the friendly staff. They could not be nicer and more helpful. It is about 15 minutes walk from the beach which is brilliant as its not too far and its close to shops and restaurants which are only 5 mins from the hotel. The rooms were very nice and clean and the pool was amazing. Food and drinks were very cheap i couldnt believe how cheap they were. To sum it all up this place was absolutely brilliant, affordable and amazing staff and services :)
