“Nice hotel for our wedding party”
Reviewed 6 July 2014

Just arrived back from our two week holiday at this hotel. Overall we were very pleased with the resort. The guests are a whole mix of nationalities and as always you get some rude people but in the main it was a nice atmosphere, the British were in the minority though. The first week we had 20 in out party as we got married in Lindos on the 25th June, organised by Lindos weddings which was amazing. So our experience was different to our second week as we were then a couple on our own and we did far more site seeing and going out and about. The first week also did not have too many kids around which was nice and kiddy peaceful and the second week you could tell that most countries had broken up for the summer so the pool area was a bit more active and noisy. If you don't bag some beds at dawn though chances are you won't get any, we had to get up early to do this which is a pet hate of mine, some of the beds were kept by some selfish guests who then didn't turn up until mid afternoon, literally...the hotel management should do something about this though. Once the hotel new we were getting married they were very attentive and did some special things for us. Some of the hotel staff are a bit miserable and not like the usual greek happy go lucky types but on the other hand most of the staff were fantastic and lived up to the Greek hospitality and service.

The food was fresh and a huge selection at EVERY meal. The drinks were in the main branded and plenty of water and soft drinks were also on offer as the heat the last two weeks was much higher than average for June. Try the Al la Carte restaurant if you are adults, the staff are lovely and the food a bit more special, the service is also very good here and they are very attentive, personally I don't thinks its right for kids though. The hotel opposite is the sister hotel so you can use their pool and facilities, in contrast this hotel is quiet and plenty of beds around their roof pool, not for kids though. We travelled with Thomas Cook who were in my opinion very flimsy and weak, the two reps we did come across at the airport and the SO CALLED welcome part were disappointingly uninformative not explaining any excursions that they could have sold us, we were just given a few details about the hotel and a leaflet on trips, SO book your own, local buses to Lindos and Rodos are very cheap, and regular as well as a ferry that went from our beach, you must visit both. Taxi to Lindos is around 50 Euros (one way) and to Rodos 15 Euros. Taxis are very easy to use. We also went on a ferry to Symi which was lovely which we picked up in Rodos town. My 20 year old son and a friend came with us and went to Faliraki one evening, even him being a UNI student said it was dreadful so don't worry the hotel is not that near to that resort. One other disappointing thing to mention was that there was only 5 minutes free WIFI for your stay in the hotel, you had to pay a substantial cost to connect otherwise. A tip... use the Budda Bar next door, buy a cheap drink and get free WIFI or when you visit either Rodos or Lindos most if not all bars and tavernas have free WIFI access. COME ON HOTEL CALYPSO GET INTO THE 21st CENTURY!!.

If you visit Lindos or Rhodes Town, go off piste to some side streets for a bar or taverna, they are usually nicer, less busy better value for money and its where the locals eat!!. In Lindos we found one above where the Donkeys are penned which overlooked the castle, bats and town, it was lovely, in Rhodes town we found one near where all the funky drinking places are.

Overall we were happy with the hotel and resort , it was clean and tidy and the rooms were OK. Food was great and staff in the min brilliant. The housekeeping staff were pleasant and we had clean towels every day.The air conditioning was a lottery though if it worked. The animation team and what they presented was pretty random and not our cup of tea so we didn't bother whatching it, i think they thought they were better than they were!. We didn't book an extension to our room on our last day as they wanted 70 Euros so took the courtesy room as we had a very late flight however the room was dirty with everyone else that had used it before us leaving their dirty towels, sand, clothes and sun lotions they didn't want on the floor. Horrible, They should at least check it every hour or so to give it a quick clean. I told the reception but they didn't seem bothered. RHOTELS, look into this!!

However we had a lovely holiday in a nice hotel in anise resort firstly with friends and secondly on our own and an amazing wedding organised by Lindos weddings.

Room Tip: Over looking pool

We stayed herein mid May. The Hotel is set of the main street on the beach, first impresion was very good. The room was fully airconditioned from mid May. Room was very modern with a fantastic balcony over looking their sister hotel. The bed is hard as is allways the way in greece. The tv was great apart from only having bbc world news and sky news and a few us news channel s. The restaurant servjce and food are first class. The drinks were branded. Being as I drink mainly soft drinks I was able to have copious amounts of Pepsi and other soft drinks. The achohol was branded as well as lots of cocktails as well. The pool was amazing lots of little coves and a great water slide for adults and kids alike. The beach was full of sun beds. You had to play the towel game as most were covered with towel early in the morning. But we joined jn in with that as well after a couple of days. The hotel is full of Germans and a lot of Europeans but they may be a bit overwhelming in big droves but they know a good hotel. A local bus takes you to Rhodes town every half an hour from the front of the hotel. For onky €2.20 what a bargain. There is Rhodes only water park 20 minutes walk away which opens late may. the hotel has some of the best staff. The manager that runs the restaurant is very friendly. Would recommend to all.

stayed in early june, hotel was ok but not great - If you have issues with bad manners, getting up at 6.00am to get a sun lounger thats not under a tree or being shoved out the way at the bars, by tip waving big guys, this hotels not for you. Lots of marble in the hotel, including the beds and pillows.
food was ok and lots of it, entertainment was not great and the animation team shows were bizarre
sun loungers are the old wooden type and have things living on them
good as a base for days out although all the thomas cook trips were on a Friday so you couldn't do them all

Room Tip: sea rooms are good but be prepared to fork out, the road rooms get the sun at night

I have been to many many hotels around this world. This was one of the lowest things I've ever experienced. Our rooms were HORRIBLE! EVERY single person in that hotel could see into our room just basically by walking over the "main bridge" in front of the snackbar. Our room was closest to the Restaurant (food was cold, very boring, typical buffet food you could get all over the world - even the rice was soaked in Oil - GROSS!). disappointing. the beach was VERY filled and the sand/pebbles mix not really well taken care of.
The bed - well, one thing is that it stunk horrible, a second thing is that the room was never really made up, the linens never got changed. The pillows were unusable - you could have used a brick! The pool area was FILLED, if you weren't there the latest by 9am in the morning - good luck finding an empty chair, let alone 4! just no.
Just very disappointing.

Room Tip: if you must go get a room on the top floor or so

We stayed here the first week in August 2012 there was 2 adults and 2 children aged 5 and 2. We had a very enjoyable 7 days everything was included in the all inclusive there was unlimited soft drinks and milkshakes for children (or adults) and for adults there was branded spirits such as Smirnoff, cocktails or local beers. At meal time there was a wide variety of choice for breakfast you could choose from hot food such as bacon, sausage etc, waffles, pancakes and toast or you could choose cereal, porridge or fresh fruit. During the day from the snack bar there was fish, Chips, kebab meat, salads, toasters, cake and much more. For evening meal they had themed nights such as Italian, Greek but in my opinion fish night was the best with fresh prawns, muscles, cod and many more. The complex itself is well layed out with plenty of room but beds by the pool did go very early. There is a waterside in the adult pool and dragon water slides in the children's pool.
Now for the bad points, all our towels were stolen off the beds on the first day as well as a lot of other peoples , when I confronted a staff member I was told this happens on a very regular basis but they can't catch who does it not even the police. In the children's pool there is a very sharp what looks like a spring sticking out of the overflow in the kids pool which is cordoned off and kids play in again when raised to staff I was told it was been sorted (clearly not when that was on day 1 and was still like it when we left). Glasses and plates were left lying around on walls from the night before including a smashed glass on the crazy golf course next to the kids club. We were told on check in that the mini bar is restocked with soft drinks daily which it wasn't due to a shortage apparently. The fire alarm point on our floor was not connected and hanging off the wall (thank goodness we didn't need to use it). The door frame in the room had come away from the wall exposing splintered wood (not good with small children). There was a hole in the glass on the balcony which we had to buy tape and cover up ourselves to prevent the children cutting themselves as again when raised to staff nothing was done. Sorry it's long but just wanted to cover everything. So all in all it is a really nice resort but just don't expect to have problems sorted if you have any.
