Mitsis Faliraki Beach Hotel & Spa
Ranked #3 of 70 Hotels in Faliraki
Reviewed 22 July 2010

Before i begin i would not rate this hotel as a 4* but probably a 3+ and the moment!

The area where the hotel is brilliant very close to restuarants, bar street and club street. The hotel grounds and lovely all set out with brolleys and sunbeds, so there was never any shortage of beds, even though that was a different story around the pool as the beds there were gone by 8am, but that wasnt really an issue for us. But if someone is that desperate for a bed by a pool there is a pool round that back, which i dont think many people knew about as the maximum number of people i saw round that pool in a week was 6. As the hotel is situated right on the beach there is also a beach bar, which do great ham and cheese toasties! You do have to pay for the sunbeds on the beach, but 7Euros for 2 beds and a brolly isnt that bad.

Having stayed in many 4* all inclusive hotels, the food here isnt amazing, but i guess you get what you pay for, lunch and evening meals were good, always a choice of meat, fish, veg, pasta, salads. Breakfast was the only let down, the beans oh my god youve never seen anything like them. i lived off pancakes and french bread all week. Snacks were served from 10:00-00:00, which consisted of pastries, sandwiches, pizza, burgers and hotdogs, these situated at the pool bar. And ham and cheese toasties along with fresh fruit at the beach bar. So if you missed breakfast there would always be something for you to nibble on. The drinks, WOW, strong is the not the word which i must say is unusual for an all inclusive hotel as they normally water them down but not here. The choice of cocktails were fantastic, but if you dont like the taste of pure alcohol be aware to ask them to make it not so strong. The long drinks e.g vodka and coke were the same. If you like Baileys make sure you try it here, its amazing, alot better than ours.

Like many previous reviews have said, the rooms and most definitely in need of an update, but what can you expect when it was the first hotel built in the area, and the rooms havent been changed since, and that was in the 1950's. Mitsis are in the process of revonvating the hotel, as they only took it over in October. I went for a venture around the hotel one day the 3rd and 4th floor in the first block and the basement foor or the second block have been renovated, as they are by far an improvement as they are all tiled in cream with black fittings and fixtures, very modern! Upon seeing the differences between these rooms and the rooms we were staying in, i went along to and ask the receptionist about them, and was told come christmas this year, they are hoping for the whole hotel to be like that, But the bathrooms throughout the hotels have been re-done and are very nice and modern, though the mirrored ceiling seems quite strange. All this hints toward my earlier comment '3+* at the moment'! Though i do hope theyve sort the A/C out as its not best, though during the week i was there there was news of a heat wave, with tempatures to reach up to 47, the A/C seemed to get cooler, so i wonder if the tempatures set by management. The hotel throughout is execptionally clean.

The only part of this hotel that lets it down, is the guests, there is an awful lot of germans, though during the end of our week there seemed to be more and more english staying in the hotel, dont know whether this was anything to do with the fact it was then the start of the british summer holidays.

I literally just returned from Rhodes (Rodos!) where me and the missus spent a week at the Faliraki Beach Hotel. I felt irresistably moved to write a review on this place. My first ever. Here is our experiences.

Yes, it's flush with Germans and Russians. We bumped into one English couple during our day stay there. It was NOT a problem for us as my German is passable and my wife speaks Russian fluently due to her work requirements. Saying that, we rarely had to strain our foreign language skills as everyone was perfectly happy to engage us in English. I got the idea they enjoyed seeing other couples that wasn't German or Russian. We made friends on the first night and never really concerned ourselves with foreign language chatter that was going on around us.

For some British folks it will no doubt be a problem as WW2 is still raging around their skulls and they fear being in the minority. May I suggest Blackpool for next year's hollibob?

The hotel rooms, as many said, is below par. Well below par. The rooms are old, very spartan and the air conditioning not up to the considerable task, making afternoon naps impossible. Hell, making any sleep close to impossible. I suffered the stuffy room on the first night and promptly moved my matress out on the balcony on the second night where it was far more easy not to wake up in a lake of sweat. I was told that the all the rooms are due an upgrade. What a welcome upgrade it will be.

The food was good enough. I find it hard to write about the culinary delights availabe as I rarely see eating as anything more than a refueling exercise for energy to hit the pool and watersports on offer. Some will enjoy the food, others will easily find something to complain about. We only had breakfast and dinner (always skip lunch) and it was more than adequate for the hotel's 4* rating. The dining room staff also deserve a special mention for their very very high level of service. Although, through our many many visits to various Greek resorts, we've come to expect that of the Greek. The rest of the world's service industry can learn a thing or ten from Greek hospitality.

The rest of the hotel was excellent, and I really mean that. At any given time one could count at least 5 cleaners buzzing around keeping things tidy and sparkling. My last morning I was poolside at 7am and counted 19 cleaners around the pool. Yes, 19 cleaners all frantically sweeping and cleaning. What a sight.

I was served lighting fast at both bars and was kept topped up with a constant supply of drinks on the poolside sunbeds, which by the way was always available if you were poolside early enough.

Will I go back? Probably not, the world is too big with too much to see. Can I recommend it? Absolutely, without hesitation. Just take into account that this isn't Brighton or Bournemouth seaside and there will be foreign tongues spoken all around you. If that is something that bothers you, try Benidorm or Magaluf.

Great hotel if you like Germans & Russians.
Good points.. clean, spacious reception, restaurant, swimming pools, close to beach, very nice staff, good location, nice beach & sea, clean rooms.
Bad points.. Full of Germans & Russians, some very rude,German biased entertaintments, amatuer entertainment programme, food samey samey but ok,rooms a bit tired, beds firm, air con okish, sunbeds taken by Germans.

Would not recommend this hotel to english people, dont go! Felt like we were on holiday in Germany.

7.2 euros for 2 sunbeds and brolly on beach.2 euros on bus to Rhodes town.Lindos pretty along with east sid eof the island, lots of pretty beaches & bays.Car hire 75euros for Panda hatchback.Symi= local island nice boat trip.Very hot in july- 35deg+ in daytime & 28deg C at night.Go to rhodes in late September for more comfortable temperatures.Rhodes is a bit barren in places.

This hotel has the best location - right on the beach which is by far one of the nicest in Rhodes. The hotel grounds are lovely and also have a large garden area with a 2nd outdoor bar. The only thing that let it down for us was the rooms ( 1/10 ! ) although very clean it was like going back to the eighties it was horrible ! The bathroom was ok and the A/C very poor. All the entertainment was in German so we could not understand anything and also the music was horrendous ( Money M, YMCA and Cotton Eye Joe - not good !!!! ) We had to go out every night in the end as it got so bad. The Location is excellent with lots of things to do - large water park 10 mins away, quad bike /. scooter hire for 20 euros a day, lots of water sports and mini cruises - would recommend the pop eye boat which takes you along the coast line where you can swim in the sea and go snorkelling etc. Would def go back to Faliraki but not back to the hotel which is a shame - if the rooms where upgraded and the entertainment better then i would go back!

Area: Brilliant- 2 minute walk to shops/bars/restaurants. Nice beach directly out the back of the hotel-with water sports available! Sun beds also cost 7 euro a day for 2. Would recommend the TGI restaurant straight up the road from this hotel- was quite cheap and really nice food!

Pool: Really big which was great- never had trouble getting a sun bed! Pool bar was also really good and does really nice cocktails and beer!

Food: Really nice! There was lots to choose from-
Breakfast: Cereal, toast, fruit, yoghurt, eggs, beans, sausage, pancakes (which were particularly yummy)
Lunch/Dinner: several different types of meat and fish (even had steak and sword fish while staying there) different types of potato, cooked vegetables, pasta, bread and lots of salad choices. We both really enjoyed the food and honestly believe that there is something for everyone! Out of the many European hotels we've stayed at- this has to be one of the best for food!

Rooms: Weren't great but they were adequate- air con wasn't very powerful and beds were not the most comfortable but it by no means ruined our holiday- besides you dont go on holiday to stay in your room all day! Bathrooms were really nice though!
*Safes cost 20 euro a week if required.

Excursions: We did soo much in the week and only spend £350 between us! We did a 5 hour Popeye boat/snorkel trip which was really good! Went to the water park (20 Euro pp) which was also a good day out and only costs 1 Euro to get to via the bus outside the hotel! We went to Rhodes town- 2 euro on the bus- really nice restaurants, harbour, shops ect. We also hired a moped for 2 days which was only 15 Euro a day and an efficient way of travelling around the Island- on this we visited Lindos which was lovely and Butterfly Valley which was also nice!

Overall a nice hotel with nice staff in a brilliant area.
Any questions, do not hesitate to ask :)

Stayed in the Mitsis Faliraki Beach hotel between May 30 & June 9th 2010. Not as good as the Mitsis Rhodos Maris Spa & Resort further south.

Had a good time at Faliraki Beach. The Greeks as always very accomodating & friendly as ever. The hotel is a good size suitable for all including families. Gone are the days when the you ng brits supposedly ruined it for others. The hotel is right on the beach. Several bars to chose from, Beach, pool & main. Good restaurant with good daily choices to suit most. Entertainment provided by the Animation Team who have just come together but did great.

What spoilt the holiday? A few very rude Germans also the Germans alienating the rest of the guests having the bigger of the two entertainment stages (with seating for a good 80 plus people at a guess, but only 10 - 15 people watching the German entertainment) demanding their own entertainment, excluding others but wanting to be part of the main entertainment where there were a lot more people wanting to take part in or view the entertainment. The rest of the guests had to make do with a tiny stage which was only properly visible by about 30 seated guests with others standing. Guests & staff were not best pleased. Apparently, something different will be done next season for the benefit of all guests not just one nationality. The other dissappointing thing about the holiday was the extreme rudeness of many of the a few Germans who would come sit at your table without asking or just taking chairs away that others where sitting & had stepped away for some reason. No questions asked.

Remember, you get what you pay for. Expect more than you are paying for & you will surely be disappointed. Best advice. ALL INCLUSIVE.

Did I enjoy the holiday? Yes. Would I go back to the same hotel? Yes but not this season.

My partner and I have just got back from a great week at the Faliraki Beach. We are tanned relaxed and happy! We booked last minute and, having seen many of the other hotels available at a similar price during our transfer, we are quite sure we picked the right one!
It is in the centre of Faliraki which means you have plenty of shops, tavernas and bars nearby, but we were never disturbed at night by noise from the clubs or bars. The hotel is right on a lovely clean sandy beach with clear water. You have to pay for sunbeds on the beach as they don't belong to the hotel - but 7.20 euros for 2 sunbeds, umbrella and table isn't unreasonable we felt.
The bus stop to Rhodes Town is right outside the hotel or just along the beach you can catch the water taxi - we did both and would highly recommmend it!
As for the hotel itself:
The room we were in was basic but spotlessly clean. The balcony was a good size and we enjoyed a night cap there overlooking the sea every night! The beds are firm but comfortable - but be warned the pillows are VERY firm! The air conditioning unit is a big ugly unit - but works a treat and isn't too noisy even on full power - plus you can control it yourself at any time of day or night (unlike in many other hotels we have stayed in!).

The staff are mostly very polite friendly and helpful. The animation team are a bit OTT but do tend to concentrate their efforts on the guests who want to join in all the activities and don't pester you if uou prefer to watch or just chill out.

The food was fine - plenty of it, well presented, tasty, and good selection. Although after a week we were getting a bit fed up with it. The drinks are varied, and decent quality, although the cocktails rarely tasted the same as they don't use measures - and they are often a lot stronger than you imagine! But certainly they couldn't be criticised for watering anything down!
The only thing you had to buy was bottled water as this wasn't available on all inclusive for some reason, but its not expensive so not an issue for us.

The entertainment was interesting - probably best described as good for a laugh after a few drinks - mostly aimed ( we thought) at the German guests who seemed to throw themselves into all and any activity - my personal favourite being the afternoon dance around the pool - you had to see it to believe it!

On the day of our departure they provided a courtesy room and plenty of clean towels. We also were alloowed to continue to eat drink and use all the facilities until we were collected.

All in all this is a decent, comfortable, well run hotel, that offers really good value for money, in an excellent location for getting around the island or simply chilling.
