We went to sun palace last June for my 40th Birthday I have a 4 year old and a 10 year old (at the time). Its not the best Hotel in the world but far from the worse.
Negatives - Poor air conditioning in the rooms , No English kids channels for the kids in the morning (when they get up). Entertainment at night was not fantastic but the kids loved it . Saw the odd resident rat now and again climbing around the bar area we named him Roland. Hotel could be noisy at times but we were in the main block above bar so expected it.
Faliraki is a 5 minute walk from hotel but it was very run down and mega expensive which is a shame because the people were lovely who we met having a walk round.

Positives - Food ok no one became ill , water park amazing , staff friendly and never stop working around the pool area. Loads to do for the kids in the hotel. Stone throw away from the beach. 30 Mins by bus ride to Rhodes town which was brilliant. Boat trips to Lindos off of beach fairly cheap and a brilliant day out (hard work for small kids)
Most of all the weather was amazing that's why they call it The sun Island.

All in all it says what it is in the brochures an average 3 star hotel with a brilliant water park. Have a walk to King Arthurs pub just up the road a good show.
Just remember Faliraki is not as commercial as other med holiday destinations don't panic its not that bad at all. We felt the same last year when I read the reviews but you cannot please everyone and if people want a 5 star hotel with butler service then go to the Seychelles.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the new block as they are bigger although some rooms in the older part of the hote...

all it is down bar street are souvernier shops a few bars nothing to write home about.the food was the same nearly ever day and chips with everything including breakfast.there was more choice in the restrant at dinner which was better than at the snack bar.people were complaining about the snack bar food.the room we had was basic the chair was all tatty and the air conditioning didn't work propy. the tv in room only had greek speaking programs.the bathroom door looked as if the bottom of it had been cut with a bread knife. also we had two realy big cockroaches.the maghison thay had on was terrible every body was getting up and leaving.the hotel was not as expected. and it cost 4 euros for a sun bed on the beach a rip off.

Room Tip: we was on second floor which was ok.

Overall our family group of 3 adults & 2 children of 9 & 13 had a really good time at this hotel although we did experience some problems which I will detail later. Before I start I would like to point out that I usually travel with only adult to 4 & 5 star rated hotel so bare please that in mind.
Our transfer from the airport took just over half an hour with 1 drop at another hotel before ours. We arrived around 23.30, booked in easily enough with no problems & although the hotel was fully booked, the hotel had managed to put us next to each other as requested in two double rooms. We all got drinks from the main bar before going to the room but found no food laid on for our late arrival, which I would normally expect. Once at our rooms(you take your own luggage etc.) ours was found to be modern, clean & tidy. Before unpacking checked the room over only to find a dodgy table leg & the upright for the shower missing. Next door was the same but unfortunately the third bed was little more than a camp bed (a proper bed was shown in the pictures of the hotel). All was reported next morning, we got no improvement on the bed the next morning other than a second mattress for the camp bed after lengthy discussions,& decided to make the most of what we had for our weeks stay.
The hotel provided a water park which the kids loved, the life guards were very visible & controlled slides & pool areas well. Food here was always fresh and well presented throughout the day with drinks & ice cream as often as you like.(Splash pool area opens from 1000 to 1800). Other pools around the site were equally well supervised & controlled. All the outside areas were kept clean and tidy. The food in the evening was buffet style, & although was repetitive in some areas we found that there was generally such choice you don't have to eat the same thing twice. All was cooked well and served in small amounts in the buffet ensuring regular turnover of food so being always hot & fresh. There was only the one main restaurant in the evening which could get busy at time but you were also able to eat outside as well. The free one time al a carte was a nice change but felt I needed a meal afterwards, but the beer was nice. Entertainment was geared up throughout the day & night for the kids mainly & although excellent staff, found the repetitiveness in the evening hard to endure at times, although the kids loved it. Overall had great week at the hotel with kids & family, good food & great staff, would go again with Kids.
Positives;- Clean tidy hotel - good helpful professional staff - well cooked food - great entertainment for the kids - great splash park - good location - cheep car hire (hotel lobby).
Negatives;- Evenings can feel like "groundhog day" for adult come the end of the week - al a carte poor - no food on arrival - camp bed in room - shower rail fitted as we left, together with 8 other rooms in our block (spent the week with hand held shower).
Our BIGGEST moan was not directly with the hotel but with FIRST CHOICE. On both the flight we were unable to pre book our seats, so on departing found they had "Deliberately" seated us all over the plane, this was eventually sorted as we had kids with us(company policy to seat families together). We followed there advise to ensure our return was not a repeat, but as the hotel rep was no use & check in was unable to sort out seating, the same occurred on return home with it being left to the cabin crew to sort seating out whilst on the plane. ( Also found several family groups had had the same problems as us & they had pre booked on line unlike us). On site the rep was next to useless, our return flight seats couldn't or wouldn't be sorted out, our "camp bed" was left for us to sort with the hotel & at the meet & greet little info. was provided, trips offered were limited & expensive, hotel info. was non existent. the only positive was the rep was there at the hotel each day.
Finally our youngest (9) had an accident in the splash park all of his own doing, requiring 6 stitches. Thanks to all the staff & life Guards there, Prompt & professional action, had him in hospital & sorted within 45 mins as well as running us around (free of charge) for medicines etc.
Thanks again.

Room Tip: Use the internal bar in the evenings( much better spirits mixed) & service Do take the kids to...

Just returned from a 10 day stay at the Sun Palace.
When we arrived we were shown to our apartment. We were told it was a new apartment and we were one of the first to stay there. We were greeted by a cockroach on the day which the guy splatted and then when he opened the door there was another one! Thankfully those were the only two we saw in our 10 day break. The room was very nice and clean (as you would expect from a new build). We were ground floor so the balcony had no privacy. I asked if we could see another room with a more private balcony and was given an alternative two days later. This room was an older room in the main building above the reception. It was awful smelt damp and was very dated. So we keep our new build.
Our room was near the adult pool next to the water-park which was a real bonus because that's were we spent most of our time. My 9 year old son like this also. Another bonus was that we always got a sunbed.
All the staff were helpful except the gardener/handyman! When we returned in the evenings the sprinklers were spraying the new seeded lawn and also our balcony. This made it impossible to sit there in the evenings. My husband adjusted the sprinkler so that it wasn't spraying over our balcony but the gardener saw this and told my husband off for adjusting the sprinkler saying that it was not a problem! But we all know this water used on sprinklers is from all showers etc. from the rooms called "grey water". Which I do think is great for watering the gardening but not for spraying on damp towels/swimwear which we had left on the balcony.
The food was OK very bland but crying out for seasoning. The children's selection was not good chips chicken nuggets and fish fingers every night. The chicken was certainly not chicken and the fish fingers was definitely not fish! Breakfast was good that's if you got there in time for the pancakes and waffles. My son loved the pancakes but most morning there had all gone by 9.00am and they would not make anymore. Loved the Greek yoghurt and fruit selection. Often the fizzy drinks in the machine were not flavoured correctly.
The cocktails from inside the hotel were very good -Mickey mouse for the kids was a great idea which my son loved. The beer was very nice also.
I wouldn't bother with the A la carte restaurant this was a total let down wished we hadn't bothered the children's selection was again chips and chicken nuggets.
The only things for my 9 year old to do in the evenings was pool or air-hockey which cost 1-2 euros and was a constant battle to get to because there was a lot of children and only 2 pool tables and 1 air-hockey game.
We hard to pay another 40 euros to stay in another room because we had to be out of our room by 12 and wasn't being picked up until 8.30pm. We were given another room above reception which was awful faulty air conditioning and the toilet would not flush. I told reception this and they said they would report the faults.
Overall we enjoyed ourselves but this should definitely by a 3 star not 3 star plus.
Emma the first choice rep was very helpful and we did not feel any pressure at the welcome meet.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for the new builds.

Hotel average, bottled water not included in all inclusive and kids entertainment didn't start until approx. 21.30/22.00 (too late for our kids).
Sofia's travel shop opposite was they best thing about the place. Owner was lovely, accommodated and listened to all our needs. Gave us great tips, really kind to the kids. Glass bottom boat trip we went on was great, staff really professional, really fun, good value for money and all round super afternoon out. Visited pretty bays and all allowed to jump off and swim in lovely clear water. Definitely recommend using this travel place, we'll worth it.

My family and i have just returned from our brilliant holida in faliraki, greece. We stayed at Sun Palace Hotel for one week. The area is brilliant there is something for every one. Every night we were at King Arthurs Bar as it is only 150m from the hotel, the highlight of our whole trip. The staff are so friendly and polite, its a very welcoming place and they couldnt do enough to help us. The have a programme to sell of course but they do not annoy you like futher down the strip and also give you much information about the area as well. The drinks are wonderful especially the cocktails and good priced our children drank soft drinks for free with free ice cream and popcorn all night as well. My husband enjoyed watching all the sports as we asked for the tennis and immediately it was put on. I loved the live music every night which brought a great atmosphere to the bar. Our children absolutely loved the hypnotist show, as did we. It was hillarious and a fantastic night out as it was free entry. The bar was packed and everybody in the bar laughed all night, we loved it so much we came back a second time to watch it on our holiday. Very highly recomended to all ages whether you are a family with young children or teenagers, and older couple, and even young groups on holiday. It is a wonderful place to go on your nights out.

The hotel itself is brilliant the annimation team are wonderful and so much fun they really look after you. The pool is brilliant with lots going on and our children loved the activities. Its very clean and well kept. Our room was everything we expected and perfevt four our holiday. The waterpark we all enjoyed and spent most day in there. The food was average in the hotel. But that didnt put a downer on our holiday.

All in all it was a wonderful trip and i would come back again very soon.

We returned from the Sun Palace on 02/07/14 after a weeks stay and we were not ready to come home. Our party consisted of three adults and three children aged 9,8 and 4.

The food was lovely, there was an ample breakfast selection, if you happened to miss breakfast they transferred it to the snack bar around 10.30 so if you did sleep in you could have bacon and eggs for brunch. The main restaurant was not open at lunch time which did gripe a few people as it should have been open but we were fine with the snack bars as we were only there for a week it may get tedious if you are there for longer. The evening food was a good selection and the desserts were varied. We did not have any complaints and the extra few pounds I have brought home with me will testify to that. One night my 4 year old was really disappointed because there was no jelly and the Restaurant Manger asked her what was wrong and then went into the kitchen and got her some which was lovely of him. The children's food station is an area the hotel could do with working on as in my opinion the food could be better quality. The ladies in the restaurant work so hard too but always have time to smile and say hello.

The staff were a credit to the hotel, none of them stopped no matter which area they worked in they all worked so hard. Sure there was the odd bad apple for example to rude pool bar man but I believe there were so many complaints he isn't there any more. The Animation Team were fabulous, energetic and enthusiastic. We didn't join in with the games and competitions but they were always pleasant and importantly looked like they thoroughly enjoyed their job, Wayne and Lemar are a very dynamic duo. Aurel is a fantastic compere and it is amazing how fluidly he flits between several languages. Emma and Dori from the kids club were wonderful with my girls, they didn't want to leave kids club they even gave my 8 year old daughter the confidence to participate in their and her first kids talent show and I was amazed when she got up on stage and sang in front of all those people.

My 9 year old was always off playing football, water polo or table tennis and made friends with so many children of different nationalities he had a fabulous time and was very sad to leave.

The water park was very good the only negative was the bit that small children can use has very harsh water spraying out everywhere and the slides are accessible over a cargo net which makes it not really suitable in my opinion and this was seconded by my 4 year old who got quite distressed. If your child is a bit of a dare devil but slightly under the height limit and you are happy for them to go on the bigger slides see the girl near the gate and she will give them a stamp to let them go on certain ones.

The best thing for me was the fact that you did not have to get up at the crack of dawn to get a sunbed. The hotel was at full occupancy and we got a sunbed and umbrella every morning around 10ish which was my idea of holiday heaven.

I would definitely return to this hotel and would recommend it to families with children of all ages.
