Elite has one of the best locations in Rhodes, next to 100 Palms Square, with 50m to both beaches - Windy beach and Elli (town) beach. And it's only a 10 minutes walk from the beautiful historic old town. Rooms are simple, with good views and everything you need, from AC to refridgerator, small bathrom and balcony. The maids are nice and keep your room really clean, with extra towels when needed, but they don't really speak English, so sign language was often the only way to explain what we wanted. The parrot named Jorgos is a great creature who likes company, and even let me scratch his head after some time. But be aware - he bites! We could talk to him from our room, and he would answer :-) Some of the bartenders at the hotel had been working there since the 70's, so we loved talking to them and hear their stories. A bigger man than short bartender Stelios is seldom found. His heart is as big as he is short :-) He really makes everyone feel good, and people were even coming over to our hotel bar from nearby hotels, just to be in his company. Sometimes when he laughs, he actually jumps up and down! People in reseption is also great, night reseptionist Domenic, and daytime Tsampika and Kirsi. I love you! To me, my stays in Elite hotel over the last 5 years, has been heaven. It's personal, friendly, you get to know everyone, even if you travel by yourself. They look after you there, and even warn you if the wrong people show up. And Finn Café has the best sandwiches and cakes ever. It should also be menchioned that we always got a really great offer, 20 euros pr night for two persons together. Now they're closing Elite down, but Achillion (the other part of the hotel, above Finn Café) will keep the charm alive for years to come. It's not fancy, not luxurious, but it's got a heart and personality - if that's what you're looking for!
