Spirit of the Knights Boutique Hotel
Ranked #3 of 126 Hotels in Rhodes Town
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 2 October 2009

We found Spirit of the Knights on Tripadvisor and could not have been more thrilled with an accommodation. We knew very little of Rhodes and enjoyed our stay there immensely, with much credit going to our experience at The Spirit of the Knights.
This is a small family-run hotel with a fantastic story behind it. Created from the three remaining walls of a 600 year-old ruin, the hotel has 6 suites, each artfully designed and each with some special appealing feature. We were fortunate to have the room with a private hammam (steam room). And Felicity, the mother whose vision resulted in the hotel, left a bouquet of fresh rosemary from the garden in our hammam.
This is indicative of the high level of service delivered with such personal and warm attention that we felt we had stayed with friends at their home.
Felicity, Alex, Kira and Duncan add immeasurably to the lovely atmosphere - and are helpful with information, advice and extra service. An example is the day we rented a car Alex accompanied us to the rental office to be sure that all went well.
It's obvious that beauty, history and humanity are driving forces at The Spirit of the Knights.
We loved our time there and would unequivocally recommend it to anyone seeking an exquisite hotel in Rhodes.

If you are planning a holiday in Rhodes do not miss the opportunity to stay in the "Spirit of the Knights” in the old town. It is a truly elegant place in pure harmony with the atmosphere of the medieval town. There is a lot of space, the decoration is devoted to the pleasure of the eye and the really beautiful garden is an oasis. This kind of accommodation ads to the pleasure of the trip. There was a cool breeze in our room; we did not have to turn on the air conditioning ever. The beds are state of the art as well as the bathrooms. The hotel is positioned very close to the centre of restaurants and bars but at the same time it is very quite and peaceful. The people who run this place truly care. I hope we come back soon to enjoy the place as well as the people who run it (and the wonderful breakfast).

Spirit of the Knights is a renovated medieval villa in the Old Town of Rhodes- a walled-in Medieval city. The hotel is family run, and has 6 tastefully decorated guest rooms. The property is stunning and has been renovated to the highest standard, with a remarkable attention to detail. Each room is unique and stunning in its own right. My favorite part of the property however is it's private garden, which is a stunning Oasis in the Old Town- with amazing planting, a gorgeous water feature, and an outdoor jacuzzi. The staff of the hotel are exceptional- an interesting and eclectic family, who are running their establishmet like seasoned professionals. The breakfast was particularly impressive, with an ala-carte menu, and delicious food, all amazingly presented each morning on fresh linens. I couldn't recommend this hotel more highly!

Wonderful oasis tucked away in the alleys behind the awful tack of the main thoroughfares. Felicity and family were extremely welcoming - the only very small gripe is that in a hotel which is obviously trying to set a very high standard that there is neither bottled water nor glasses in the bedrooms. On request both were supplied immediately but charged.

Diana & Anthony

I stayed 8 nights with my husband at the Spirit of the Knights Hotel. We had reserved the Pasha room that has a hammam in the room. Although the room was very romantic the owners of the hotel could do with some improvement.

1) There is no mini bar in the room - you would imagine a suite would have this amenity
2) They are very stingy with shampoos, shower gel
3) Forgetful (once we had ordered coffee in the morning and they forgot to bring it to us because the owner was picking up his girlffriend from the airport - of course after 30 min we asked them to see what was happening
Also another day they forgot in the basin the cleaning cloth.
4) Breakfast comes in small portions - and definately if you are staying for longer period like we did you want some variety.

Although mistakes do happen and its pretty understandable I would have liked to make up for some of their mistakes - instead they only said sorry.

I believe that they should take example from IMARET HOTEL (situated in KAVALA) which is similar style but they have a lot of professionalism.

Although the Spirit of the Knights calls itself a boutique hotel its more family run (the person that will clean your room is the same person that prepares breakfast)

Although the room was very nice , the service needs to be upgraded

I am the owner of the Spirit of the Knights and was introduced to you on arrival. I do thank you for your comments and the issues commented on – we take our guests opinions very seriously.
It is a shame that you didn’t read our website or an alternative advertisement prior to booking which includes all the information about the hotel including the fact that we are family run. Your points noted –
1. We don’t advertise mini bars on our services/suites pages. Instead we provide 24hour free room service so that our guests can make use of our fully stocked bar.
2. Every day we provided two large bottles of shampoo, conditioner, shower gel & body lotion and happily supplied more when requested.
3. The cloth was left in your suite and your coffee was overlooked one morning. Our apologies were given and were sincere. It is however incorrect that my son (not the owner) went to the airport.
4. A la carte breakfast is provided inclusive. You can order as much as is desired from the selection on the menu.
5. A Boutique Hotel is not defined by whom it is owned or run by.

We stayed in Rhodes at the Spirit of the Knights hotel for 4 nights in July. If you want a large hotel right on the beach that's a party scene this is NOT it.

If, on the other hand, you want a small (6 rooms), romantic, quiet hotel with a lot of charm right in the middle of the the old town, this is the place.

We learned that this family-run hotel has been open for less than a year. They've done an amazing job - taking a 500 year old ruin, completely renovating it, and turning it into a modern boutique hotel with the modern amenities (internet, tv, new bathrooms/tubs - my gfriend LOVED the huge tub), yet kept it historically accurate, fitting right in the old town.

Every morning, they serve breakfast in the garden area - a tranquil area with lots of greenery and shaded from the hot sun. We went in July when it was hot hot hot. The garden always, for some reason, had a cool breeze flowing through.

The service was extraordinary - they go the extra mile including walking you to restaurants and different areas in the old town (so you don't get too lost, which you can the first day!).

We wanted to stay in/near the old town and were not disappointed. There is quite a bit to explore and, even after 4 nights, we still did not get tired of it.

Walk the wall the first day to get a lay of the land.

We also went to Simi/Symi - a small island about 1hr ferry ride away - beautiful little island at a slower pace than Rhodes. If you have the energy, walk to the top of the "500 stairs" on this island for great views (the locals thought we were insane in 90+ degree (F) weather - bring plenty of water!).

Other Rhodes sights - Lindos is a must. Also, if you have time, rent a car/scooter and drive around the island. We drove through some mountain areas and visited an ostrich farm (yes, really - we enjoyed it even though very touristy and kids will definitely).

We had a great stay at this wonderful boutique hotel for 3 nights in June. The location of the hotel was perfect, inside the walls of the city of Rhodes

The hotel itself was wonderful with all the rooms decorated in a very nice style. The Library, decorated in Ottoman style and Garden are simply lovely.

Our room was very well furnished with and incredibly nice bathroom and private hamman . Garden is the best place to have breakfast or to have a drink in the evening. There was also free internet service.

Staff is really kind and helpfull with guests.

Our stay couldn't have been more pleased.

We were very pleased with our choice and would not only recommend it to anyone, but would certainly stay here again if we return to this island.
