We recently spent a couple of nights at Hotel Attiki and would have liked to stay longer, but they were fully booked. It's a lovely little place: very central but quiet, a pretty courtyard, comfortable rooms, imaginative decoration, great breakfasts, and a very warm welcome from Mara and Francesco. Mara could not have been more helpful. When she found out our ferry had been cancelled, she was on the phone straight away sorting out new tickets for us. We wish them all the best in future.

We spent a night in Rhodes before catching an early ferry to Halki. Once we eventually found the hotel in all the narrow streets (advice - print out a street map in advance), we had a most enjoyable day in Rhodes Old Town, almost wholly attributable to the excellent information provided by Mara. On booking we were told that the only available room (Baricco) was very small, and it was. However, it was also full of character, perfectly adequate for a night and dressing gowns were supplied as the private bathroom, also very small, was not en-suite. The hotel is in an excellent location - in the midst of the Old Town and very handy for the ports. We easily got away from the crowds in Socratous and explored many of the quieter parts, and ate very good food in Indigo and Mnoukia...Mnoukia. Staying in Attiki was one of the highlights of our holiday, due to the excellent service (including an early breakfast) and friendliness of Mara and Francesco.

The Attiki hotel is run by two young Italians who have restored a beautiful old house, right in the centre of town. The house has a garden, where Mara and Francesco serve their excellent breakfast in the morning and where you can drink a cocktail in the shade in the early evening. Rooms are comfortable, well-provided, and ecologically arranged. Both M and F are very friendly and very helpful in every way. The place is a delight (and the cats are wonderful).

We spent 4 nights with our baby at Attiki and were pleased with the experience. Mara, the owner, is very friendly and she arranged our car rental. This is an ancient house with heraldic shields very centrally located. My favourite part was the lovely patio where breakfast is served, complete with 7 cute cats. The breakfast itself is average: bread, biscuits, jam, yogourt, fruit... and instant Nescafe coffee. That was the downside of an otherwise pleasant stay. We were given the Jack Kerouac bedroom, big enough to fit the baby cot. Another bit that needs improving is the bathroom: too claustrophobic and with bad smelling sewage. On the positive side, good taste for decor and unbeatable location.

Room Tip: The Jack Kerouac is big enough for a couple to stay comfy.

What a find!

We stayed at the Attiki for six days in total in August & September during our Aegean tour.

I doubt you will be able to find a harder working couple in the Aegean. Mara & Francesco work non-stop to ensure your stay with them goes without a hitch.

Mara is the mobile reception 24 hours a day, and is always available to take bookings, arrange scooter hire & restaurant tables, but always has time to have a chat and give great advice on where to go & what to do. Francesco is the engine room of the outfit making sure everthing is working in their beautiful bijou hotel.

The Attiki is located almost in the middle of the medieval Old town and whilst just 100 metres from the hustle & bustle of the main street, it remains an oasis of calm and tranquility. There are ten rooms on two levels, some with balconies overlooking the communal courtyard. The rooms are small but perfectly and individually appointed complete with air-con & ensuite bathrooms. Mara & Francesco host a fabulously wholesome and filling breakfast with fresh fruit, bread and pastries and also preside over "sundowners" (or aperatif's) in the evenings.

The friendly and relaxed environment they create is almost unique in our travel experience and we will definitely be going back some time soon and recommending the Attiki to all our friends.

Room Tip: It is definitely worth calling Mara and discussing your requirements directly.
