“friendly staff but poor quality accomodation”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 April 2011

On arrival we were shown to the pit from hell and told this would be our apartment. Dank, dark, smelly and a view of the TV aerial on the roof only. On complaining, we were shown another decent apartment, but havve to share it with our friend who has also been placed into a cubbyhole at the side of the hotel. There is no reduction in costs. The hotel is noisy and cleaning is erratic. Not recomended.

We stayed here for 2 weeks in August and it was absolutely great. The accommodation was basic but very clean. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The apartments are in the residential part of the town, with a large supermarket 10 minute walk away. The restaurant in the complex was excellent and very reasonably priced. There were various "themed" nights (Karaoke, Bingo, English Football on large screens etc) but we didn't participate, as we preferred to go and explore what Rhodes had to offer, and all were over early so it was quiet when we got back. Taxis to and from Rhodes old and new town cost 5 euros which didn't break the bank. We generally walked into town (20 mins) and got a taxi back, as the August heat was unbearable at times. The only down side was the distance from the nearest beach, but there is a pool with lots of sun-beds etc. We generally walked to the beach (about 40 mins)

This was our first trip to Rhodes and we wanted as much access to the island - busses. The location is about 20 mins stroll and if you pick the right route a very pleasant stroll bringing you to the island bus stops. The hotel was excellent, the pool was very clean and well maintained. The bedding was changed every day except Sunday alomg with all towels. The cleaning staff were always freindly and welcoming. The chef in the hotel is excellent and some of the daily offers well worth a try. Saturday night all fish was 9 Euros, I had a seabream normally 25 euros a Kilo and there was a good kilo of grilled seabream that just fell apart. My widfe had the Salmon normally 15 Euros and it just fell apart. The House red wine "bulk" 1 kilo was 10 Euro and was very tasty. the staff couldn't do enough for you. Our 3rd floor side facing balcomy view gave us the sea and a sunrise every day, what more could you ask when eating a fresh bagette from the local bakery 5 mins away. Carrefour (yes French)supermarket was about 5 mins away and catered for all our needs. There is a local pizza takeaway which was excellent value/quality (just before the bakery). Excellent location/facilities.

My boyfriend and parents booked this hotel about 6 weeks befor we went away on holiday and only paid £260pp for 2 weeks. The location of this hotel is very poor which is a shame as the hotel in itself and the staff ( well most of them) were all very helpful and pleasent.

The rooms are basic but this is to be expected in my experance of Greek self catering hotels, however they were cleaned every day and had everything we needed. We all thought that the pool area was set out a little strange as if you were on the sunbeds, you either had the resturant or the stairs to the toilet block in view, i should emagin that this isnt a good idea for families with young children as you wouldnt be able to keep an eye on them. Although saying this, we had some very good days sitting around by the pool haveing a few cheeky beers...

In the morning the resturant was run by a Canadian and an English woman, the Canadian was very bubbly and chatty (sometimes a bit over enthuiastic) and the english woman generally walked around with a face like a wet fish. The food was reasonably priced and good, however we think that we somtimes got charged different ammounts for various things, one day they wacked an extra euro onto the hotdog and chips as it came in a bun!!! In the evening the resturant was run by the owner and his wife...I could not fault them!!!

The bar in the evening had a very nice young lady behind the bar, she was very helpful and always up for a laugh, there was a very strange guy that worked there, he didnt seem to do much, we nicknamed him Lurch...

All in all we had a fantastic 2 weeks, but the fact that to get away from the hotel meant a 30 min walk I wouldnt recomend this hotel if you have children or find walking difficult.

To be honest, this holiday was a last minute booking and I didn't have high hopes for the hotel as we got it so cheap. However, I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived.

The hotel itself is out of the way, not along the seafront with the others. This was not a problem as there is a pool and plenty of sunbeds available, or a quick taxi ride to the beach.

The rooms were basic but comfortable and also a good size. The holiday was self catering but the food in the hotel restaurant started very cheap, as little as €4 for hotdog and chips which was very nice. The biggest expense was alcohol, a fishbowl costs around €15 but was definitely worth it! General alcohol was reasonably priced. Do be careful as they don't use measures, they just pour until they think there is enough alcohol in the glass, usually resulting in a very strong drink!

The staff really were lovely, we made good friends with the barman and the receptionist. They spoke good english and were very accomodating.

There are some excursions on offer, I would recommend the jeep safari as it is very insightful, and the water park is fantastic!

The weather was extremely hot! Hotter than even the locals had expected. Take enough sun lotion and aftersun as you will need it! Overall this was a fantastic holiday and I can't wait to go back.
