“An excellent choice”
Reviewed 21 October 2013

We were very pleased with this 4 * hotel. We arrived very late on the Saturday evening and were offered salad rolls and cake in the bar area as we had missed our evening meal. The hotel is very well located, being in the centre of shops and restaurants, a five minute stroll to a very nice beach, and a fifteen minute stroll to Mandraki Harbour and another five or ten minutes from there to the Old Town. Bus stops are nearby and the Casino five minutes away.
The reception, lounge area and restaurant were very nice and welcoming and the bar was fine,, although more seating would be good. Both lifts worked throughout our stay
Our room was pleasant and large with a good sized balcony with side views to the pool area and bell tower and nice balcony furniture.
The room had a fridge and an older tv, with poor reception. The only English channel was the News Channel. The air-conditioning was free but quite noisy, but most ac units are!
There were two large single beds pushed together and as I suffer from arthritis and have a replacement hip, I found the bed uncomfortable and sleeping difficult and tried folding the bedspread under me on the second night. To my absolute delight, on our return to the room at the end of the second day, the cleaner had put memory foam mattresses on both beds. I cannot express how delighted I was!
The staff, including the cleaners, the hotel manager, reception staff and serving staff in the restaurant were absolutely wonderful. Polite, friendly, efficient and anxious to help in any way they could.
We were staying half -board, but the hotel does do all inclusive. The breakfast and dinner buffets were large, very varied, well cooked and delicious, with a variety of greek dishes in the evening,, pastas and a choice of pizzas cooked in a wood oven.. Coffee was served at the tables in the morning; in the evening we had to purchase drinks to accompany our meal, with coffee available to purchase in the bar area.. The restaurant manager greeted each guest as a rule at the door to the restaurant and seated them, but didn't mind if they had a particular preference and it was available. Children were welcomed and the waiters chatted to them, but there were no specific children's meals or facilities for children in the hotel that we noticed. Their website says there is a playground next to the hotel, but we didn't see it.

We didn't use the pool area, but it looked nice and was kept very clean - we could see the cleaners scrubbing the loungers and tiles every day.

Entertainment in the bar area consisted of Greek dancing and singing on one night and karaoke on another night. These seemed popular. The bar area was well used up to midnight, when everything stopped - we were on the first floor at the opposite end of the corridor, and could hear the noise, but it didn't disturb us, and I am a light sleeper..

We were allowed to keep our room until 6.30 pm on the Saturday we flew home, at a cost of 35 euro, as we had a 10 pm flight.

The hotel was used by all nationalities, and by Greek holiday makers too.

I would strongly recommend this hotel to couples (maybe not honeymooners!), groups of adult friends, and singles, Families with very young children perhaps, but not for school age or teens. However, we went in mid October, the hotel was closing for the end of season the day after we left and it may well have other facilities in the main months and more things for older children during school holidays.

As we had booked this hotel through On the Beach, we got a very good discounted rate. If we ever returned to Rhodes we would stay there again.

Room Tip: Perhaps choose a room not over the bar, or at the bar end of the corridors, unless of course, you in...

the hotel wasnt that bad. we booked it because our brochure said it had double beds and we were on honeymoon. no double bed given and no flowers or anything. food was very basic. noisey air conditioning in bedrooms and you can only use the wifi in in the reception area. on a plus note, if you sit in the bar in the evening, tip the 2 barmen a tip and the drinks will flow all night lol

We have stayed in this hotel on several occasions and have always been satisfied with it. The hotel itself is in an excellent location and is very clean and welcoming but most of all the staff are so friendly - what more could you ask from a holiday hotel.

Arrived at the hotel on the transfer bus, myself and my boyfriend had driven past some bad and amazing looking hotels. We were dropped round the side and at first glance were not impressed, however that quickly changed once we got inside and the reception staff were extremely friendly. The rooms are a nice size with lovely bathroom, balconies are nice but could do with a a lick of fresh paint, but we had lovely see view. Location is perfect, 2 mins from beach, less then 5 from Rhodes town and the harbour. Food in the Hotel was outstanding, unusual for European half board. Fresh grill and salad everyday with a change of choice. Only small negative was a small pool, advertised as 3 but actually 1 main pool and 2 'plunge pools' one which wasn't on, and also sun does not hit the pool in the afternoon so had to go to the beach. General entertainment wasn't great in evenings but we went out most nights anyway but overall really pleasant stay and nothing to complaint about. Worth a stay and good value!

Pleasant staff, clean rooms and other spaces, good location, all of these contribute to a positive overview of this hotel. The rooms are with lots of space and nice balconies, and the toilets are well equipped, along with hair dryers.
The fact that the rooms are air conditioned with individual, not central AC devices decreases the comfort, as well as bed matraces that need to be changed ASAP.
The food in the restaurant is very good, tasteful and versatile, with lots of choices even for the demanding ones. Special kudos goes to the local Greek sweets. Although they have a wood pizza oven, the pizzas are nothing special.
The bar is maybe the weakest spot. The domestic alcoholic drinks they are serving are awful, so you can focus on the very delicious draught beer, and an excellent espresso from the machine.

Room Tip: Ask for higher floors if you want a view of the sea.

I stayed here last year for a week on my own.The hotel is part of a chain and there are two other Mitsis hotels in Rhodes Town of which you can use the facilities by showing a wristband. The hotel is very clean, i had a really nice room on the second floor,my balcony was overlooking a busy street but i wasn't disturbed. The staff were attentive,if not very friendly, but they were always busy. The food was a bit repetetive but plentiful, with the usual all inclusive fare. The pool area is clean and attractive,a bit small for the size of the hotel, but the other Mitsis hotel on the main road has a much bigger pool area, also the beach is very close by and is beautiful. The best feature of this hotel is the location. It is ideal for a lone traveller because everything is nearby.I have been to a lot of Greek Islands and Rhodes is my favourite up to now.I loved Lindos and the old town.

This was our 6th stay at the Petit Palais in Rhodes Town (May 2013) - keep going back to this hotel as you are guaranteed good food, clean rooms, good service! Location of hotel is excellent for the beach, shops, tavernas, only a short walk to the harbour or old town. Would highly recommend.
