We were very pleased with this 4 * hotel. We arrived very late on the Saturday evening and were offered salad rolls and cake in the bar area as we had missed our evening meal. The hotel is very well located, being in the centre of shops and restaurants, a five minute stroll to a very nice beach, and a fifteen minute stroll to Mandraki Harbour and another five or ten minutes from there to the Old Town. Bus stops are nearby and the Casino five minutes away.
The reception, lounge area and restaurant were very nice and welcoming and the bar was fine,, although more seating would be good. Both lifts worked throughout our stay
Our room was pleasant and large with a good sized balcony with side views to the pool area and bell tower and nice balcony furniture.
The room had a fridge and an older tv, with poor reception. The only English channel was the News Channel. The air-conditioning was free but quite noisy, but most ac units are!
There were two large single beds pushed together and as I suffer from arthritis and have a replacement hip, I found the bed uncomfortable and sleeping difficult and tried folding the bedspread under me on the second night. To my absolute delight, on our return to the room at the end of the second day, the cleaner had put memory foam mattresses on both beds. I cannot express how delighted I was!
The staff, including the cleaners, the hotel manager, reception staff and serving staff in the restaurant were absolutely wonderful. Polite, friendly, efficient and anxious to help in any way they could.
We were staying half -board, but the hotel does do all inclusive. The breakfast and dinner buffets were large, very varied, well cooked and delicious, with a variety of greek dishes in the evening,, pastas and a choice of pizzas cooked in a wood oven.. Coffee was served at the tables in the morning; in the evening we had to purchase drinks to accompany our meal, with coffee available to purchase in the bar area.. The restaurant manager greeted each guest as a rule at the door to the restaurant and seated them, but didn't mind if they had a particular preference and it was available. Children were welcomed and the waiters chatted to them, but there were no specific children's meals or facilities for children in the hotel that we noticed. Their website says there is a playground next to the hotel, but we didn't see it.
We didn't use the pool area, but it looked nice and was kept very clean - we could see the cleaners scrubbing the loungers and tiles every day.
Entertainment in the bar area consisted of Greek dancing and singing on one night and karaoke on another night. These seemed popular. The bar area was well used up to midnight, when everything stopped - we were on the first floor at the opposite end of the corridor, and could hear the noise, but it didn't disturb us, and I am a light sleeper..
We were allowed to keep our room until 6.30 pm on the Saturday we flew home, at a cost of 35 euro, as we had a 10 pm flight.
The hotel was used by all nationalities, and by Greek holiday makers too.
I would strongly recommend this hotel to couples (maybe not honeymooners!), groups of adult friends, and singles, Families with very young children perhaps, but not for school age or teens. However, we went in mid October, the hotel was closing for the end of season the day after we left and it may well have other facilities in the main months and more things for older children during school holidays.
As we had booked this hotel through On the Beach, we got a very good discounted rate. If we ever returned to Rhodes we would stay there again.
