Sometimes in ones travels and I have travelled around Greece for more than forty years, you find a place that you want to continue touching base with, where you know that you will be comfortable, cosseted and looked after in an oasis of quality and charm. Set in the oldest part of medieval Rhodes, inside the walls and down a series of rustic alleyways, the Zakosta is just such a place. John, the owner is staggeringly helpful and goes out of his way to provide a quality of service that will have my wife and I returning over the years. He dropped us off at the ferry port so that we could take the ferry to Symi and then picked us in his car on our return, his breakfasts were delicious and served in an utterly charming courtyard surrounded by medieval buildings next to an old mosque. John is interesting and informative, it is lovely that his bar operates on the basis of trust and his rooms are clean and comfortable with beautiful and well appointed bathrooms - my wife was particularly enthusiastic over the soap, sponge and shampoo gift sets! There is absolutely no doubt that when we next visit Rhodes, we shall stay with John at the Zacosta, indeed, the Zacosta is one of the reasons that we will visit Rhodes again.

We loved our stay at Zacosta! It's like staying at a B&B, only better. We were there for 3 days and John was super warm and friendly, helping us with everything. The breakfasts were great; I loved the bathrooms with all stone and wood; it was elegant and charming and definitely a place we'd go back to. We loved eating on the patio with the medieval backdrop - Thank you, John, for a wonderful stay!

Room Tip: We were in the Raimondo room which had a Queen or King bed in it. Bathroom was gorgeous, with bathro...

We stayed at Zacosta for 4 nights at the end of March. Zacosta is a great little boutique hotel
with excellent service, location and facility. Add to this the outstanding, warm and friendly hospitality of John (the owner) and you get the best hotel for your Rhodes stay.
We enjoyed every minute and can only highly recommend this place for people that can appreciate quality.

Room Tip: Opt of the suite on the 1st floor if available

We had an amazing experience staying at Zacosta Villa, with the only sad part of it being that we could only find a reservation for one night. An additional night at this delightful small (three room) villa in the old city of Rhodes would have been perfect.

Zacosta is located on a small side-alley (Xenofontos) that makes you feel like you are back in medieval Rhodes, cobblestone streets, archways, etc. - but it's only a minute or two to the squares and larger streets that comprise the (more touristy) parts of Rhodes.

The most outstanding feature of our stay was the hospitality offered by John, the owner and hotelier. Not only did he correspond with us to help facilitate our arrival, but (as we were arriving from Turkey by ferry) - he even picked us up from the terminal in his own car, lest we have problems finding a taxi. The hotel is located a bit of a walk inside the old town - but he helped take our bags from the car (or taxi, on your arrival at the entry-gate) - to the hotel doors. He loaned us a brochure on the history of Rhodes (fascinating to read, really made our appreciation of the buildings and massive defensive walls more meaningful) and was always available for questions and suggestions (for example, the restaurant he recommended for dinner, not far from the hotel, was one of the best we ate at during our stay in Greece - kaupia).

Zacosta is an old building that John rennovated from the ground up, creating an oasis of peace, with a wonderful courtyard (where one of the finest breakfasts is served each morning, at your leisure), and 3 rooms furnished simply but in modern fashion. The WiFi was a little spotty at first, but worked thereafter. We were very happy with the bathroom and the amenities (safe, toilettries, bathrobes). John even gave us Zacosta sun-hats as keep-sakes!

This is the kind of place that people return to year-after-year, and offers a refereshing counter-balance to the larger touristy establishments that Rhodes is better known for. If you are looking for personal service, quality and quiet, close to the heart of old Rhodes - look no farther.

Zacosta is the most unique hotel/villa i ever stayed in Europe. It is located in the medieval town, a 'backlane', staying here is like you were living in the medieval age! Yet the room and facilities are modern and very functional. So a stay here would be always memorable as the environ and the villa are so different from the usual modern, tourist hotels. The host, John, is the most hospitable villa owner i ever met. He knew it was 'troublesome' to bring our luggage to the villa (taxi cannot enter that part of the old city) and also to locate the villa, so he gave clear instruction via email for the taxi driver where to drop us, and when we arrived at the pickup point, John was already there waiting to help us with the luggae and bring us to the hotel. Two days later, John personally drove us to the port for us to take the ferry to Patmos Island, and when we returned after two night stay in Patmos, John was at the port to welcome us and bring us back to the hotel. John is such a warm person and always ready to help to make our stay enjoyable, I now consider John a personal friend. For some people who like all the convenience of staying in a modern hotel in a modern area of the city, they may find the villa hotel a bit 'odd' but John's hospitality more than compensate for whatever inconvenience of staying in the old town. By the way, staying in the old town has a lot of advantages for sight seeing etc too! All the sights are nearby (5 min walk) and there are also many good restaurants around, ask for advice from John!

This was our second stay at Zacosta Villa Hotel and, again, we really enjoyed our holiday relaxing in this beautiful villa, which provides a retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
This year, having previously stayed in the other two rooms, we chose to stay in the suite and we were not disappointed. The furnishings and wonderful toiletries provided by John were luxurious and the facilities and cleanliness are first rate.
As usual, our host, John, was welcoming, generous very friendly extremley helpful throughout our stay. We spent a number of nights chatting and relaxing in the charming courtyard. My Wife Diane is a gardening enthusiast and thought it was lovely to see how much the shrubs have grown since last year. I am sure that the popularity and enthusiastic comments about Zacosta with follow suit.
We chose to venture into the new town this year to sample the delights of 'Taman',another wonderful, authentic Greek restaurant. If you get the chance, the reasonable walk is well worth the effort. Also, a day trip to Symi was truly memorable.
Thanks to John for your kindness and generosity-we look forward to seeing you again next year!.

Room Tip: All rooms are good!
