The hotel was very close to beach and short walk across the hill to the old town. The area is not so noisy as in old town. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There are a lot of good and valuable restaurant on the surrounding area and breakfast place as well. Only "10" minutes walk from the harbor and grand master palace. Close a rent a car and ATM facility. Hopefully we go back again in 2013. I recommend to everybody. It is looking like as the pictures show and was cleaned every day. the only problem is the missing sea-view, but You can solve it with 1 minute walk.

I booked this place for one night as stop over.
this hotel is in the new town, standard block building outside, it is rather in the center of the party area, close to the beaches and few minutes from old town, bus station, port.
I found a nice room (510) with parquet on the floor, clean place, big window. small but clean bathroom with only shower. No sea view, Free WIFI only in the lobby. Friendly staff.
Did not have the breakfast neither used the pool as sea is not far.
I Booked this place as found a bargain offer but I found nice room and I could have been more day.

Room Tip: nice room (510)

Don`t stay at Venus hotel in Rhodos !!!!!!!!! Warning.!!! Beware of mean dogs!

Me and my friend sadly ended up at this terrible hotel, we had 3 rooms for one week. The hotel is in general really torn-down, dirty and old. a horrible experience that I with this writing want to warn you others about and sharing this details with:

1. Squeezed in toilet on which you can not sit on with your whole butt, inadequate toiletpaper and small shower without curtain

2. Not clean room at check in time that we had to wait till 14 a´clock and another 1 hour more and ever after that still have to lie in used dirty sheets and so on. We were also welcomed by a death rotten frog in the room.

3. Lamp in toilet broke and they would not fix it at the whole week, got to do and find our doings in the dark

4. Power cut all the time every day in some rooms more than others

5. Very small pool other than the pictures show

6. Lousy breakfast which we had already paid for, with old bread, marmalade and disgusting sap-drinkable and if you like cheese and ham or eggs you have to pay 5 euros extra,

7. Allmost all unfriendly staff

8. Broken doors, a door frame was painted and one of us got paint on him, they did so without warning or putting sign

9. The rooms were infrequently cleaned, sheets and towels were occasionally changed

10. AC that barely worked, with expensive extra pay of 8 euros for each day throughout the week

11. Very small balconies that had puddles of water on floor from above that also leaked and dripped on us

12. In one room were we booked two single beds, there was only a double bed until the changed it after 3 days of being forced to sleep together

13. Terrible and disgusting Manager, who hide himself if pleased with saying that he is not the manager

14. we were not allowed to be on the hotel's public spaces without buying anything from them

15. not allowed to bring a familymember to the room (from another hotel) for the time until I finished showereing, but if I paid 15 euros so it would be possible

16. Broken bed, we had to fix ourselves provisionally, they didn`t wanted

17. Claimed once that he none had a spare key to the rooms.

We had prepaid for for nights, but left after one.. This hotel is not woth using as a jail. The building has a complete lack of ventilation, including bathrooms. The result is large amounts of mould and fungus on the bathroom floor and walls. The room was not clean at all.
The double bed had a mattress two sizes too small for the frame, and both appeartd abolutely worn out.

If you stay there look in the bedside drawer for greetings from other guests. My room had written greetings dating all the way from 2011 to 1987, seems that they havend renovated since the opening.

Did get a lot of bug bites after one night, dont know it it was fleas. bed bugs or what (guessing both), but had to have all our luggage disinfected just in case.

Room Tip: Commit a crime and go to jail, they have better rooms.

I went with my sister and we are both in our early 20's so the location was the most important thing when we looked into booking a hotel. The location was excellent as the hotel was only 5 minutes from the beach were you could pay 4 euros for a sun lounger, we really liked this beach as in rhodes there is quite a good breeze so sun bathing on the beach you never got too hot! On the road where our hotel was there was lots of resturants and snack bars were you can get some good food, it is lovely to have so many choices of where to eat every night but I found after awhile it did get pretty annoying when as soon as you stepped out the hotel you were hassled from each resturant to come inside.
The location was also good in getting to the harbour, new market and old town (all relatively close together), as it was just a simple straightforward walk of about 7-10 minutes. It was also easy to commute as the bus station that right by the new market, went to various places such as one day we went to lindos for 5 euros or kathliea for 2.20.
As for recommendations go, go to kathliea springs pay 3 euros to get in and enjoy the amazing building! Afterwards, you can enjoy the beach.
TOP TIP! Take a snorkel and go in the sea bay there (no tide and very clear waters), we had such an amazing afternoon and seen so many amazing fish! We found we seen more fish later on in the day when there wasnt as many people in the ocean, as two boats go diving there in the day.
Oh and we hated Lindos, so much hotter than Rhodes (no breeze) and only thing to do there really was walk up to the castle and visit all the little shops which sell exactly the same things as rhodes do.
The final thing about the location, was that it was literally 3 minutes away from the main bars/clubs street. We found it was best to drink around the corner, in the carina hotel or the hotel opposite first as they did a happy hour from 7-9 on all drinks! Be careful however, there vodka redbulls are so strong :)

Okay onto the hotel now, the hotel was very basic!
The beds and pillow was uncomfortable and the room was soo small, me and my sister found it frustrating when trying to get ready as we were always bumping into eachother. The bathroom door only opened half way before it hit the toilet and only one person could fit into the bathroom at any one time. Our balcony was pretty dirty and only got the sun for a few hours. The cleaner spoke no english so it was very hard to communicate with her. The bed sheets got changed often but were often dirty with random stains and so was the towels. The pool when we arrived was dirty so we didnt use it for the first couple of days however they cleaned it so we were fine to use it. Well until towards the end when it was dirty again and needed cleaning. The pool area doesnt have any sun beds as there isnt enough room for them however we just put towels down instead. The pool area however was not very good to sunbathe in as it only got the sun between the hours say 1-4.
We included the breakfast in our booking but we only used it on a few occasions as it was very basic but we expected this so wasnt too disapointed. There were a couple of cereals, bread, boiled eggs and jam. A person can only have jam on toast so many times.
The ladies on the reception desk were very nice and tried to help you with any queries you had. However, sometimes they could only offer a certain amount of help due to the language barrier. The guy (Tomas) who worked in the snack and drink area spoke much better english and was more than happy to help with any questions.

As for things to do, I know I have already mentioned some things up there but we went diving which was really good. We went with one at the end of the harbour as they offered personal dives instead of group dives which the other two companies offered. The day was with other people but when you actually went on the dive is was just with your own party which made me and my sister feel a lot safer!
We went on a jeep safari, which was good but you ended up so dirty from all the dust created from the jeep infront. You had the option to drive which im glad I declined as some of the paths were pretty steep or narrow. We seen little villages and go to go of the beaten track which was fun.
We also went on a greek night, there was a decent amount of food if not a little fatty, unlimited red/white win and good entertainment afterwards. The greek dancers performed their traditional dancers and then got the whole resturant involved.
Another TOP TIP! if you want really good food, there is an all you can eat just left from the beach at the end of the road (about a two minute walk from hotel) called the danish corner or something like that. They offer you so many different meats, other types of dishes and things for just 9 euros. It was one of the best finds of the holiday we found! They also give you a gorgeous complimentary drink at the end.
Finally, old town. We loved walking around old town and exploring. We went into the palace of the knights which was good. We went on the hop on hop off tour bus which was good to get a tour of the city and you can buy head phones and get a tour in your speaking language, however it often didnt match up to what we were actually seeing so was a little pointless at times.

Overal, Rhodes is a gorgeous and romantic place with good things to visit and see. However for the English, there was not that many English holiday makers as it was all scandinavians though we did get talking to a couple of lovely people who spoke good english.
On a final note in regards to the hotel Venus (pronounced like the city not the planet lol) I would stay at the hotel again but only because of our budget and not many other hotels had a pool and we could still use the pool at selected hours. We just aren't very fussy people, I hope this review helps make your mind up about Rhodes/hotel.

Room Tip: Try to get a room facing the street, sunlight for a longer period of time.
