“Coolest hotel in Rhodes”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 September 2012

We first stumbled across this hotel as refugees from another property. We were looking for somewhere to sunbathe as an alternative to our own hovel of a hotel. As you’ll see from the promotional pictures, the poolside area is lovely. It is an oasis of calm, set down and back from the main road, with a bar at one end of the pool, with sunbeds all around. Music – mainly chillout and dancy-pop tunes - is played throughout the day and the party carries on well into the night. Those sunning themselves by the pool are either hotel guests, or from hotels nearby, and on weekends they are joined by a sizable number of locals – a good sign.

We spent a few days sunbathing here, enjoying the music, the chic, modern surroundings and the fact that everything here was spotlessly clean. We also appreciated the waiters brining drinks to our table – friendly guys who were happy to help us with sunbeds or parasols.

We enquired with two days of our week away to go whether there were any rooms available at Villa de Mare. So we spent two days in a ground-floor room, which had ample space for four people. All the rooms were bright, modern and spotlessly clean. Everything worked, everything was modern. The decoration was minimalist, but the high ceilings and cool rooms were perfect for us. Being on the ground floor, we were screened by a wall from the pool area, but were only about 5 metres from poolside.

Special mention has to go to the ladies on front desk who were incredibly welcoming in every way, genuinely pleased to welcome us and getting to know us during our short stay there. I cannot speak highly enough of the welcome and help we received from these lovely people.

The bar itself is complimented by a restaurant which I can honestly say served us one of the best evening meals I have eaten all year – it was simply fantastic and not pricy at all. We shared a wonderful meal over a bottle of wine just after sunset by the beach – it was simply amazing. The breakfasts in the morning were also good and the variety of food on offer was excellent. Superb coffee too.

The only small problem I’d see if you stayed here would be if you had a problem with the fact that this place is a magnet for the cool kids and the bar stays open until late most nights – if you’re not a night owl this may disturb you. The set-up of our suite however would mean that any children would be in the side of the building away from the bar so this might not be a massive problem if you had kids with you.

That aside, this is a clean, modern and well-run place to stay which I would recommend in a heartbeat and which I will seriously consider staying in again if and when I next visit Rhodes.

Room Tip: Go for one of the rooms on the first floor - proper balcony.

We came across Villa di Mare when staying at a nearby hotel which we didn't like so we started to use the public pool facilities in Villa di Mare. After a few days (two of which we spent at a different hotel in Rhodes Town) we decided to check in to Villa di Mare for our final two nights. The room rate was very reasonable. The hospitality was excellent, the staff went over and above what was expected to accomodate all of our needs. The rooms were basically decorated but perfectly functional and very clean. The restaurant was fantastic, the best souffle and cheesecake we've ever tasted. The pool bar also served good snacks and was very reasonably priced. The hotel is central in Ixia but this is the best place to be. A lot of the resort is based around all inclusive resort hotels so this stylish, chilled and modern place was a breath of fresh area. The poolbar music was very good too although it did go on until 2am and could get fairly noisy, which is fine if you want to make the most of the facilities and join the party anyway.

Room Tip: If you are bothered by the poolside music, try and get a room closer to the main reception area and...

This is not a hotel - it's a nightclub! We arrived fairly late on the Thursday night and were shown our very nice suite with splashpool overlooking the pool bar by the friendly lady on reception - the location seemed very pleasant and nicely laid out. What we didn't know was that the loud music from the swimming pool area would last from 11am to 3.30am EVERY DAY. There is no escaping it as the music is piped through speakers around the perimeter of the pool area.
My other gripe would be that the pool area and hotel facilities are open to anyone who walks in off the street which means that it gets overcrowded with people who are renting nearby apartments.
If we had been staying any longer than two nights at this hotel, we would have booked out and moved somewhere else. Luckily we moved on after that and enjoyed the rest of our holiday in lovely Rhodes. Lisa, UK.

I will start this review by strongly recommending this hotel to anyone who might be interested in visiting Rhodes. Villa Di Mare is located on the north-western side of the island, only a 10 minute drive from the airport and a 5 minute drive from Rhodes City. A couple of friends and I stayed at Villa Di Mare between June and July 2012 and we lived in one of their luxury suites. The suite had plenty of space for four persons and was very appealing with its clean and elegant look. There are one master bedroom and two sleeping couches with the same type of madrass, so the couches were as comfortable as the master bed. The cleaning crew did a remarkable job making sure the room was clean every day and absolutely no tidying or dishwashing had to be done ourself.

From around 09.00-19.00 the pool area was open to everyone that would like to come and enjoy a day at the pool, so it is recommended to reserve a sunbed with your towel before 09.00 too make sure you get a sunbed next to the pool. The reason for this is because many locals call in and make a reservation wich the hotel place out between 09.30 and 10.00 AM so many of the best spots are taken if you don't take a sunbed before this time. When you are lying around the pool the bar crew is always close by and you can order both food (usually lunch) and beverages. If one would like a glass of water this is free. The crew is very friendly and will help you with anything.

In the evening a part of the pool area is cleared for sunbeds to make room for chairs and tables for a kosy evening at the pool bar. This is open for anyone and closes around 03.00 AM. Here you can order a variety of both alcoholic and none-alcoholic beverages. The hotel has also a restaurant that serves both lunch and dinner til almost 00.00. The food is very delicious, especially the Ceasar Salad, and the food costs the same as at any other restaurant!

For entertainment there is music around the pool all day, but not played at a too high volume. For those who would like a more mature nightlife there is a night club connected to the hotel wich is open once a week, what day that is I am not certain of. Some saturdays the hotel arranges events like tango nights and all the hotel guests recieves an invitation to the event wich is a nice gest.

The reception and reservation crew are realy friendly and helpful if you have any request or questions. They make you feel welcome and speak english very well.

To conclude I would say: time well spent and therefore money well spent!

A new and different hotel i Rhodos , having been to Rhodos more than 30 times i have to say that this is the best experience so far , service was really good w/the nice woman taking us on a little "tour" around the grounds and told a bit of history of the hotel (was buildt as one of the first hotels in Rhodos and was later abandond and left in ruins before a new company bought the lot and made this very special hotel.
We also got a free uppgrade to a "Master-suite" that was 75 sqm and had 2 bedrooms/2 baths/ 2 jacuziz or jet-tubes and a big livingroom w/2 single beds and a kitchen to make meals if you want (or you can order roomservice) , outside we had a 75sqm private garden w/a small pool, sunbeds of high quality and a sitting-group for 6 people..and for all this i paid 160 euros a night :-) (rack rate was 450 euros...and the Miramare charged almos 1000,- euros a night for something smaler...having stayed at the Miramare in a sea-front suite i have to say that this was way more value for my money ), Main pool was packed all day,but no problem gettig a sunbed before 10:00 in the morning (but we did`t need one as we had our own pool & enormous private grounds)..I`m sitting outside the suite now and I`m sure i will return (you can`t compare this to a normal hotel so you just have to try it) I have nothing to complain about

We spent here one week with our daughter and in laws.
We had great time. Staff was very friendly and they took all our needs very seriously. We even got late checkout for free as our flight left quite late.
We stayed at suite next to PoolBar. Suite had its own little pool which is very good if you have children. There are lots of pools in this Hotel, so you'll definitively find the kind you like :)
You should prepare for some noise, because they play music at the pool whole day. (we discovered that all hotels play music at their pools)

Hotel is located in "turist area" in Ixia but you can count it as an plus because all the best bars of Ixia are just opposite the Hotel. Road is quite busy but you cannot hear road at all. (we had the suite closest to the road, but couldn't hear anything.)
Taxi costs 10€ (with tips) to old town. Bus stop is also very close (1,50€ / person) but we used taxi.(fast, cheap and cool)

Views are just as great a seen on pictures. It's amazing to sit by the sea having breakfast with warm summer breeze and an amazing view.

We had a great time. Can recommend to anyone.

Room Tip: Traveling with children? Get a suite next to pool as they have own minipool.

The moment we arrived, we knew we were in safe hands.
The receptionist were expecting us and greeted us warmly.
I must say the 2 bedroom suite smelt new and fresh, I would have thought though being our honeymoon they perhaps would have decorated the room for us? But we received a complimentary bottle of red...
Views to the pool and beach, superb.
Music yes loud, staff fantastic- super friendly- apart one little hiccup in the restaurant for breakfast, as i don't eat pork i asked for my morning omelette not to have ham in it..the waiter insisted he understood until it arrived at the table full of pork! GROSS! i tried to explain, but alas that was useless to some degree, so i must say it wasn't very pleasant watching my partner and others eating while i starved.... so PLEASE go to FBI bar across the road...fantastic array of food and even greater service, we ended up going there for most of our meals:)
I would stay here again..but i would not eat here again...no not the nicest food. but staff great and 10 min taxi out of Rhodes

Room Tip: most rooms have great views of blue sparkling beach
