“Quiet Elegance”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 April 2012

My daughter, son in law (who is Greek) and grand daughter plus myself booked one week at this lovely hotel 21-28th April this year, mainly for it's position right on the sea front with panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea and the Aegean Sea. I had a front sea view room on the 3rd floor and it was lovely. Unusually for Greece, the bed was not hard at all, plain cream washed walls with blue carpet and crisp, white cotton sheets. Bathroom on the small side but immaculate with a small bath instead of a shower tray which is great if you have small children. Very friendly maids who came in every day to make beds, change towels etc. We booked half board where we could have lunch or evening meal and the food was excellent but after a few days I found a bit repetitive. The waiters are immaculately dressed and efficient and very friendly .....well MOST of them were - when we arrived it was rather quiet being early in the season and we thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere in the elegant dining room (especially Ernestino who is very attentive) but towards the end of the week the shifts changed and it got very busy and the atmosphere changed a lot... we had an abrupt, grumpy lady waiter who was hardly to be seen and we were constantly being barged past by guests from another country (beginning with G). This hotel caters for not only tourists but business men as there are conference facilities and there was a visiting basket ball team there towards the end of the week. I would certainly go there again but early season to get the best from the hotel's ambience. By today's standards perhaps it needs updating but I found it very relaxing - enormous gilt framed mirrors in the reception area, large clay pots of plants, pretty orchids dotted about, chandeliers and a cool blue carpet which is is quieter than noisy tiles and VERY comfortable large sofas and chairs. The one thing I would change next time is to have a room on the top floor (6) perhaps as it can get a bit noisy being in a room facing the street (but that's where the view is). I have rated the 'Value' as excellent as we booked through Trivago and had a good price.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are wonderful but a bit noisy as they are on the street, so get one on the highest fl...

Arrived on 12th April for one week. The hotel is well positioned for Rhodes town. Just a 10 minute walk to the old town. Had a room on the 5th floor with a sea view which was great. Room was very clean on arrival and was cleaned every day and provided with new towels. There is no tea/coffee making facilities in the room which we like to have but there was always drinks available in the bar area near reception. The staff were very welcoming and amusing especially in the restaurant. The pool which is freshwater was incredibly cold but to be expected at that time of year. Refreshing once you were in though. When the weather gets better this hotel would be ok for families as is next to the beach with its own access running under the road. We stayed half board and enjoyed the meals we had. Starters are a Buffett style with a soup/salad and or hot food option. Then a choice of 2 main courses and desert tended to be the same 4 or 5 items. Young children would find the menu limited though the restaurant was accommodating if asked for chips.
The old town was just starting to wake up for the main season and cruises coming in. Full of history and culture. Just be strong with the traders. It was very difficult to just browse around without being pounced on. They were all very friendly but just need to politely ask to be left alone. The main square is full of bars and restaurants. Again they are very keen to get you in and it ends up in a a bit of a game. One note of caution if you ask for a large beer you will get a glass boot with about a pint and a half in costing 8 euros. A standard pint is 4 euro.
We did enjoy the week but think it would have been even better mainly for the weather if we had gone 2/3 weeks later.

We spent a wonderful week in this hotel. We chose Mediterranean Hotel mainly because of its location - 10 minutes walk from the Medieval City of Rhodes with its unforgettable atmosphere, 15-20 minutes from the port and 5-7 minutes from the shopping center. No less important was the fact that the sea in front of the hotel is very calm.If you like big waves, you can walk 5 minutes to another beach. It was a real pleasure to swim in calm and clear water and observe big cruiseliners either entering or leaving the port. Our room with a balcony was always clean. The food was tasty. The staff were very polite and professional.I would definitely recommend this hotel.

The room was clean and nicely furnished. Reception staff helpful and pleasant. Food excellent and varied. Waiters professional and helpful. Great location, about 10 minutes walk from the old city and new town. Only negative point - no tourist information in the hotel.

Room Tip: It is well worth taking a sea view room - but ask for one with clear glass on the balcony! Some of t...

The view from the balcony is amazing, the rooms are big, furniture and bathroom very old fashioned and old but well maintained.
Towels were not ironed at all and bed sheets had a stain.
Heating was working well and was quiet.
You have to pay for the internet.
Restaurant is poor but you do not need it, you have way better choices pretty close.
The mini bar has a note telling you that you cannot store personal items in it and that you will be charged for any original mini bar items removed from inside! (ha ha)
The room keys are real antiques the bulky type with a magnet!

Stayed at Mediterranean Hotel one week,in February.I am from Rhodes, but not living there anymore, and i chose this hotel because of its good reputation.
And i was right :) The location is great, evarything is near, the old town, the casino, the beach is right opposite,so its perfect for summer holidays!
The breakfast buffet was really great, with a pretty good variety, anything you may think for breakfast!
Booked a double room, with sea view, wich was big,had a big double bed and two chairs with table, and a desk with mini fridge. Was clean, had new towels every day,hot water allways. The bad thing was that there's no wifi at the room, you had to pay for internet access..
The staff was as it should be at an A class hotel! Polite, smilιng,helpfull!
Would stay there again for sure :)

Perfect location, opposite the beach and with a fantastic sea view from the balcony. Friendly staff, walking distance to Old Town of Rhodes and the harbor. Rooms are well designed, light and comfortable. Breakfast was just ok but we were very pleased with the very professional staff. Very relaxing environment. Good value for money.
