A great hotel with lovely distinct areas and our appartment in the VIP area was very good. The reception area was equally excellent with very helpful staff. The hotel has great potential as a holiday hotel but is clearly aiming at the corporate/wedding/chess competition market whilst trying to appear holiday orintated and has maybe fallen between the two stools.
The extreme cost of drinks, clearly 5 * prices i.e Colas and other soft drinks nearly 4euros, bottles of water 2euros 70 etc. obviously put, particularly families, off. Our water bill at hotel prices for 8 days would have been over £60. I have never seen so many couples and families sitting in the foyer and other social areas at tables with no drinks. Also at dinner so many tables again no drinks or just water! No incentive for waiters to earn tips from alcohol sales, hence the need in a 5* to queue for breakfast and dinner. Sometimes 30 people waiting whilst a few just walked through ignoring the matron in charge.
The food was good but consistently 3/4 *.
The Piano Bar as advertised in the brochure had a beautilful grand piano which we never heard played all week!
Rhodes is such a lovely Island and generally the holiday was great pity, about the rest.

We had mixed feelings about this hotel, although I don't know how it is rated a 5 star.
Rooms are basic and dated, definately in need of an upgrade, the bathrooms are very small. Reception is clean and spaciousreception staff helpful, I wish I could say the same for the restaurant, most of the waiters were rude, the food was below average and the restaurant didn't seem big enough to house all the guests, we ended up eating out most of the time.
The bars were clean and staff helpful and friendly, not surpsing as the prices were very expensive!
Location is not bad and close to Rhodes Town which is a great place to visit. Despite the negatives we still enjoyed our hoilday, although we won't be going back to Rodos Palace!

I was apprehensive about staying in this hotel after reading the reviews on trip advisor, but i was pleasantly surprised on arrival. my friend and i were given a room on the 6th floor with the most amazing view of the beach.
The hotel and pool areas were lovely but some areas need touching up in order to remain its five stars. the photos show the villas which are defiantly 5 star so i can see how some people may be surprised at the difference on arrival.
I would recommend half board or just breakfast as there are so many nice restaurants in ixia (2 min walk) and rhodes town where we spent most nights (5 min cab or bus ride away) this hotel was perfect for us as could relax in the peaceful surroundings of the beach and pool, but in the evenings we were a taxi drive away from the lively club scene of rhodes town (Bar street) where we found more people our own age (18) in this area however including our hotel we didnt meet many other english people. there seemed to be more sweedish and other nationalities than english as rhodes town in meant to be the sweedish version of ibiza. this didn't matter to us as everyone was friendly and most were English speaking.

although we loved this hotel it had its negatives, as a vegetarian i sometimes struggled to find a wide range of meals and my meat eating friend said the meat was sometimes over/undercooked but it was always freshly prepared and everyone we spoke to enjoyed the food. the beach was also shingle so we found the pool to be more enjoyable or traveling to rhodes town to the sandy beach. we also found hidden costs such as the gym 10 euros per use, drinks in the hotel to be expensive and costs for hiring sunbeds on the beach.

overall we had an amazing time ad found our hotel to be clean, comforable and a great base for exploring what rhodes has to offer (Lidos, waterpark, rhodes town) i would return to this hotel.

Do not be fooled by the pictures you see for this hotel, they only show their best bits, if you are not renting the villa/apartment section of the hotel then this is how you will get dumped into:....
......We arrived at this hotel at around 2am. There was 8 of us girls, they got the rooms wrong and splitted us into four separate bedrooms but was told by the receptionist that he would arrange us into different bedrooms for 3, 3 and 2 people......However, the next morning 2 of the cleaners just stormed into our bedroom (no knocking) and started cleaning up and just dumped a folded up bed into the room........we asked the staff to arrange something but that was how we had to sleep meaning two had to sacrifice to sleep on the folded bed for the time of our stay!!! the rooms were so not 5 star, the bathroom was moldy, the carpet was green....some old style furniture and a 1950 tv....and oh yeh, the hairdryer stunk!!!
Breakfast food was terrible.....not to the expectations of 5 star.....the chips were rock hard it nearly broke my tooth, some of the food was still raw, the glasses were dirty!!! And everyday it was spaghetti bolognese!!!
Some of the staff were really rude especially that blonde receptionist with the big pink lips....she had one face you would want to punch!!!
The only thing that made it up was us girls..... we did our own thing and enjoyed the experience.....the only good thing about this hotel was the sunbathing!!! 8-)

The hotel is average minus and should not, under any circumstance, be called a 5 star hotel!
The travel agent sent us a link of the hotel which showed pictures of VIP suites with private pools, but we got no such suites. In reality, most rooms are in an old tall gray building.
We got a room on the second floor and the sink was clogged up right from day one and the janitor did a lousy job at fixing it the first time. It was finally fixed the second time only the next day. The bed in the room had two separate mattresses which was horrible.
The only positive thing was the view from the room. The balcony faced the beach and the sea which were beautiful.
The rooms are tidied every morning, but not really cleaned.
If you want to stay in your room after 10 AM the cleaning lady gets upset, because she has to come back to your room later. When you need ice - you have to call room service. On the last day, we didn't have a room number anymore, because we checked out in the morning, so we were told we couldn't get any ice!
The food is disgusting at breakfast. There are plenty of Israelis coming to this hotel, however, bacon and eggs is served every morning and is right next to the cheese and sausage.
You can cross the street via an underground small tunnel, but you should know that they charge you 7 Euros for the parasol. If you want to head to the old or the new city you need to take a taxi which costs 8 Euros each way.

We've spent a weekend of family vecation in the hotel. We got a great price at the agency. Before getting to the hotel we were quite worried due to the horrible reviews in this site, as did many people on our flight. We were extremely relieved to find the hotel nicely decorated (although' I have to admit, the lobby does look a bit like a mable shrine to the eighties...), the rooms were spacious and clean, the pools were really nice. Breakfast and dinner were tasty.
True, if your looking for five star luxury the next door Sheraton is better' but comes at a higher price.
All and all it's a very nice place for a family vacation and I would going there again.

We looked for a moderately priced, family oriented hotel, and found it in the Rhodos Palace. We were a bit intimidated by the reviews, but they proved unsubstantiated at most.

Pros:
5 minutes from town, across the road from the beach (there is an underground passage), nice pools with plenty of seating, clean rooms, very helpful staff!

Cons:
Definitely not a 5 star hotel, more like a 4.
Decor is a bit outdated. The water in the pool is really cold - unlike the Sheraton next door, which has heated pools. the food was only OK, and kind of repetitive. The spa was a joke - the sauna and Jaccuzi were tiny, and my brother and I also had a massage, which was a bit on the unprofessional side. No WiFi in the rooms! Only in the lobby and pool area, and for a charge.

All in all it was very good for a family vacation, but I would pay extra for a better hotel if we were just a couple.
