Not really a five-star hotel, but then again not really charging 5-star prices. Slightly over-burdened with moaning Brits in scruffy tracksuit bottoms.
In an excellent location within easy walking distance of Rhodes Old Town. The buffet meals are fine, if a little repetetive, although some of the dining room staff could smile a bit more. The wine they serve, though, is a bit iffy, and I'd give it a miss.
Our room was spotlessly clean with everything in working order, even if the TV was obviously out of the ark.
Try the Kojak Pub around the corner if you're looking to escape the confines of the hotel.

Room Tip: Avoid room 180 - you have to stand on tip-toe on the balcony to get the prmised sea view.

We have just returned from this Hotel, all I can say is ignore the bad comments it is absolutely fantastic.
We stayed with our friends for 1 week All inclusive on the 3rd floor, I am disabled and did not have any problems getting around at all.
The rooms are spacious and very clean, we had a pool view which was lovely, all the rooms were cleaned every day.
The staff are brilliant and can't do enough for you.
There are 3 restaurant's, The Buffet, Chinese and Italian all 3 are really good with lots to choose from.
The Hotel is immaculately clean, it is a little slippery around the pool but you just have to be careful and if you have children you need to make sure they don't run as they will slip.
It was such a lovely relaxing holiday, none of us wanted to come home!!

Do not take any notice of the negative comments, go try it for yourselves you will not be disappointed.

We stayed for a week all inclusive in October and had a great time. The only niggle we had was with the view from the room we were given it was over a tennis court with concrete walls all around but a quick word with reception in the morning was all it took to be moved to a garden view room with a lovely balcony. The food was good and plentiful but if you are staying for more than a week it would probably get a bit repetitive, the chinese and italian were very good. The all inclusive bar could get very busy in the evenings and sometimes you may have to wait a few minutes for a drink, this was not a problem for us as you can see the bar staff are working as fast as they can but some people are not so patient to say the least! The hotel was spotlessly clean in all areas and the staff were freindly and helpful in spite of some very moany guests, all i can say is that if you treat people with respect you will get it back. It is true that is not a 5 star hotel by British standards but it certainly didnt spoil our holiday. The Old and New towns are a 15 min stroll away and worth a visit or 2, and there are some good bars and restuarants nearby that serve good food and are nice change to the hotel in the evenings.
We would certainly go back and are glad we wern't put off by the bad reviews, we discovered when we were there that some people just like to moan!

Although "all Inclusive " wasn't offered on the Internet via Thomas Cook we haven't missed much
Beautifully reception, great location next to the sea, less than a mile to the old town, very helpfully staff, two outdoor and one indoor swimming pool
Some rooms need redecorating not all are that bad, buffet style meals but the serving area is around 100 foot long, loaded with lots of choices to vary each night
British older guests seem to think they have bought the hotel once the little gold plastic bracelet is fitted by reception staff, Some staff who aren't as fluent in English just need a good shouting at, or that's what has happened and this is embarrassing for those around
In this present economic climate some corners are being cut, but this is a holiday for us while mainland Greeks can't feed their families
We have really enjoyed our stay and hope when the economy picks up they refurbish this lovely hotel back to its proper standard
Book at reception for the excellent in house Chinese or Italian restaurant
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay

we have just returned from a great week in rhodes and stayed at the 5 star mitsis grand and in my opinion it was probably a 5 star at some time in its life due to the grand entrance and decor. the room again quite nice but there are issues for the proffessional wingers to harp on about. its a superb base for seeing the old town and the new town with there 4000 shops. also close to the beach and has good food . we stayed all inclusive but would not recomend this as there are too many goods restaurants out there too miss out on.. all inclusive bar ok but again issues for proffesional wingers ...we had a great time but would try a different hotel on a b&b basis next time

Room Tip: if staying here i would not reccomend all inclusive too many good restaurants and tavernas very clos...

We stayed for 2 weeks all inclusive from 26th September.
There were lots of positives. The hotel is in a great spot, we had a lovely room on the 3rd floor with great sea views , the rooms were very well cleaned and the air con great, I agree with what some people say about the carpet but ours was ok and kept clean. The only problem we had was the stupid place they had placed the shower head, when you have a glass panel covering one third of the bath why place the shower holder half way down. More than once my wife and I soaked ourselves and the bathroom floor by turning on the shower and forgetting to check that the shower head was pointing in a different direction. Minor point I know but so easily rectified.

The staff at the hotel were always very polite and hard working.
The major drawback of this hotel is the restaurant. When previously staying in Mediterranean hotels or in fact any hotel in a hot climate we have always enjoyed eating outside. The Grand although having large paved areas at the front of the hotel do not give you this choice. This is very surprising given that there is a major problem with space in the restaurant. By knocking through a window in the far right of the restaurant putting double doors in you could open up the patio and seat probably 150 to 200 people there.

Whilst we were there we sat in the bar on several nights watching the queues for a table in the restaurant. I don’t do queuing. So we just sat and waited drinking in the bar, one night we waited for an hour and a half. The hotel seems to let people from their other hotels eat here and this causes problems of too many people. Once in the restaurant the tables are far far too close together, in some cases 4cm between tables and never more than 10cm.
If you are unlucky enough to have a table in the centre of the room frankly dining is an unpleasant experience, it gets far too hot and just chaos with so many people trying to get to the buffet and having to queue to get your food. My wife summed it up very well by describing it as like a busy works canteen.

When I am on holiday I like to relax and have a few glasses of wine whist eating a my dinner, this was no relaxing experience and on the worst of the busy nights I even gave up trying to get another glass of wine.

All this goes on while there with another restaurant on the left of reception which was never used while we were there. What is this room for? Why not use it to give your guests a better dining experience.

This is such a shame as the standard of the food is generally very good with a large choice. The only comment I would make is although every night there was fish, often 2 types, on the buffet it was only ever called fish, why not identify its name, would you put chicken on and just call it meat?

We did eat at the Chinese and Italian restaurants and these were very good the best in my opinion was the Italian with Popi the waitress who was superb.
The all-inclusive bar did get very busy but the guys serving were very good and fast. The only drawback is there is no machine for coffee or tea so when you come back to the hotel late at night and fancy a coffee you have to queue, on more than one occasion we couldn’t be bothered.

So come on Mitsis senior management surely by reading not only my report but lots of other peoples comments you must realise there are problems with the restaurants but these could be so easily solved. I know I have worked in hotels for 40 years.

Room Tip: Take your own kettle and tea and coffee much better than having to queue last thing at night. Wish...
