“Adequate Hotel in Rhodes Town.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 October 2012

The Alexia Hotel has a very good location for beach, restaurants, bars etc. It is actually located at the end of what is known as "Bar Street". The hotel facilities are pretty basic, but I cannot complain about cleanliness. I would suggest using it for self-catering holidays as the food in the dining area does not make your mouth water. Rhodes is hot, even in September and having to pay extra for air conditioning is a bit unfair. If you only want a hotel to sleep and shower in as I tend to do when on holiday, it's fine. If you want luxury, look at the hotels in Ixia, a couple of miles down the road.

Room Tip: A room on the front side of the hotel. With a bit of luck you will have a sea view. The back room vi...

Alexia Hotel, located near the sea, away by some distance from old town, but if you are that way inclined, close to "bar street".
Its a clean large hotel, looks to have been built in the 70's or 80's but still in good condition.
Our room is on the second floor and on the front of the hotel. Through the door, to the right is a small kitchenette with small sink, hob, fridge. To the left a spacious bathroom, clean and with a shower, toilet and sink. No lid on the toilet bin.
Through to the bedroom, twin beds, wardrobe, tv, fridge, vanity unit, sandwich toaster and out to a large balcony.
Now, I didnt get a single wink of sleep, but this I think is my fault. The room is very hot, they offer air con at 5 euro a night, I didnt take it and so had to have the balcony door open, mistake, the noise is unbearable, its located near a few clubs, a few strip clubs, bars, roads and the sea. I didnt sleep, but if I had the AC, the door keeps the noise out and it wouldnt be a problem.
Otherwise good, friendly hotel.

Room Tip: get the air con

went to Rhodes for a wedding in Lindos but preferred to stay somewhere bigger Read the reviews of hotel after booking and was a bit perturbed but it was fine. Know from previous trips to Greece that you get a very basic kitchen ie 2 hobs, but didnt stop me making all kinds of different eggs for breakfast (tried breakki in hotel, on day of the wedding, but pretty poor choice). Fridge was great = very cold, bathroom (wetroom) served its purpose, rooms cleaned daily so no complaints Reception staff very friendly, may be a bit of noise from nearby nightclub, but if door is shut, you dont hear a thing. Good location and we were on 3rd floor so between front buildings had nice view of sea. probably wont go back to Rhodes, but if I did, would stay here again

Room Tip: front rooms, get a view of sea, but may be noisy from nightclub

Well, we love Rhodes and have been many times before. However, this is the first (& last) time we will stay at the Alexia. The staff are friendly & helpful, however, this hotel needs a SERIOUS upgrade as it is very tired. Most of the lights didn't work in the room we had. However, the shower had constant hot water - good, for a budget hotel. The lifts are small so we didn't use them. We were self catering but did buy breakfast (as not included in price) for 6 euros - NOT really worth it - go to one of the MANY tavernas around the corner for much more edible fare! We paid for a safety deposit box (15 euros for 1 week or 20 euros for 2). This hotel is near a beach which was called by most of us "windy beach" - great for getting a tan but the beach is pebbly and the sea has steep shelves so, if you're not a swimmer, beware. If you want to get some sleep, get a room at the back (even though you'll be looking into the hotel rooms opposite - a terrible view, but we didn't hear much noise because of it.

Room Tip: In the height of the season, I've been told you need to be at the back of the hotel to ensure yo...

I travel to Rhodes at least once a year, and have done for the past 13 years.

This was my 3rd time of staying at the Alexia, and i think the hotel has improved over previous visits.

I book it because it is cheap, and the location is close to that of friends i have out there, but you should be aware that this hotel is on the corner of Bar Street and in the Summer months, you will get noise from down the road. Out of peak season, either early or late, the noise is less and not too much of an issue. The sea view rooms are overlooking Bar Street, for a quieter room, request a view over the back of the hotel

The hotel doesnt have a pool, and the main dining area is a sectioned off corner in the main reception/bar area, but there are plenty of facilities locally and i would encourage you to visit the local restaurants, very reasonably priced.

Room Tip: Sea View rooms will be over looking Bar Street, so if you want a quieter night, don't ask for a...

Just returned from two weeks holiday in Rhodes. We had booked into this hotel for the duration of our holiday with COSMOS after careful consideration of their description. The minute we walked into the room, we wanted to leave.
We were FORCED to stay for three nights before insisting on a move to another hotel at considerable extra cost, having waited this length of time for the rep to relocate us. During these three nights we managed around 1.5 hours sleep between 10pm and 8am.

Be warned that if you want any sleep AT ALL...this is NOT the hotel to stay in (although it is described as 'relaxing and comfortable' on the COSMOS website. It is just 30 yards from a Strip Joint and a night club that pumps out music at an insane volume until at least 4am in the morning. Although described as three star accomodation, the quality of the facilities is little more than a youth hostel, and nothing like the 'studio apartment' quality that was described, with a mould covered 'kitchen' area and rusting cooker hobs. This is NOT a hotel for 'couples' or 'families'. It IS a hotel for 18 to 25 year olds who wish to party and drink until dawn. The hotel is surrounded by high rise hotels/apartments on three sides and privacy is non existent as you are looking into other peoples rooms and they into yours.

Air conditioning and safe deposit boxes are charged as EXTRAS, at ridiculous extra cost to your holiday.

This is our worst ever hotel experience in 35 years of international travel.
Avoid this hotel AT ALL COSTS.

Room Tip: Choose another hotel !!

I bet that this hotel was some kind of prison in the past. The rooms, the elevator, the lounge .... Everything is so old !
The staff are not very friendly and not helpful at all. The breakfast selection is not that good either
