“A Superb Holiday in a great hotel”
Reviewed 8 August 2014

Just spent two weeks with husband and two children aged 8 and 12. We've all had a great time and all want to come back!!!
We were on half board basis (brilliant as you can swap dinner for lunch which we did for half of our holiday, so we got to go out to local restaurants and to Rhodes Town for meals too). We drank and ate like Royalty for 2 weeks both in and out of the hotel but kept well within our expected spends budget.
All staff at the hotel were professional, courteous, very friendly, good at their jobs and seemed happy to be doing them. The dining room was managed superbly and the food was of a very high standard and very varied. The animation team had a good balance of trying to include you but without being too pushy.
The location of the hotel is fantastic, just a few minutes walk to the local bars, shops etc of Ixia and 10 minutes drive to Rhodes town (8-10 Euro by taxi). Everybody we came across were so accommodating and helpful.
Our room was very spacious and although I believe it not to have been one of the refurbished rooms it was a very acceptable standard. Sliding doors separated us from the children and our generous sized balcony looked out to sea, where you look down upon the mini golf, private beach and watch the cruise liners, surfers etc - beautiful.
My only very minor constructive criticism, which may have been addressed in the refurbished rooms, is that you have to be rather short to fit under the shower!!!!
Also the entertainment, nothing wrong with it but didn't suit my family's tastes - the greek night was great (get to dinner early) but other than that I wouldn't worry if you miss anything!! I feel that the entertainment is in keeping with the hotel, but I think you may be bored if you just stayed put every evening, and it would be a shame as the local area has so much to offer. However a few visits to the Roof Bar is a must, stunning views.
In summary, I 100% recommend this hotel on a half board basis and hope to return in the future.

Room Tip: Ask for a Sea view, otherwise you would have the pool which I would think is quite noisy, or a mount...

We have just come back from a week fully inclusive at this hotel which is supposed to be a 5* it certainly isn't 5* maybe 3 plus or 4. We booked a sea view which was great always make sure you do otherwise you are facing a mountain face only a few metres away no view at all depressing. Bearing in mind we were fully inclusive there was no mini bar in the room although there were tea and coffee facilities but you have to pay on a daily basis for this.

If you want to use the pool bar you have to pay for meals (burger and chips, hot dog and chips etc) this is extra to your all inclusive. They do put on minute pieces of pizza a dry bread bun with cheese and ham in and occasionally a little cake. You can get a meal in the main restaurant but you have to leave the pool get changed to go into the restaurant and then change again to go back to the pool. A bit of a chore especially with children. the noise around the pool is terrible with the animation team determined to get you to join in and shouting all the time very off putting if you want to have a relaxing time around the pool. The two pools were OK but a little bit dirty in parts and very slippy makes sure you take flip flops

There is a bar on the 8th floor which is lovely but go early as there is only 1 waiter on and he is rushed off his feet.

The maid service in the rooms isn't great not coming to clean your room until late afternoon and the blue pool towels never getting changed unless you go hunting for the maids to give you clean ones or go down to reception to exchange them. not very 5*

We are on a late flight and couldn't keep our room on which I thought was a bit much being kicked out at 12noon (if it had been available you are charged 60 euros but only until 6pm which I thought a bit expensive)

The food wasn't the best lots of pasta, and greek cuisine which was very varied, but the fruit was a bit tired looking and often battered and bruised and on two occasions our food was off and we had to get something else to eat. The restaurant staff were very friendly.

Also please note that the bar in reception if you ask for water they give it to you out of the tap and we were told that your not to drink the tap water so if you want water you have to buy it at the local supermarket as you cant get this on the all inclusive. On a lot of things when you asked for it you got the reply that will be extra. Not much of an atmosphere in the reception bar

On the whole I felt that the Olympic Palace with their lovely reception (the rooms that the public can see was lovely) the hotel bedrooms definitely weren't 5* they have pleasant staff but seemed like a fledgling Company wanting to be 5* but not quite making it. As we are an older couple I wouldn't recommend this hotel for older couples but its great for the young ones with loads of water facilities. Although the beach wasn't that well maintained we found.

Rhodes is a lovely place, but I wouldn't go to this hotel again one of the reason we don't go to the same place twice but when I pay for 5* I expect it.

Room Tip: Go for a sea view the other option is awful sea view lovely. Local buses into Rhodes old town is o...

We came here as a couple and it's the first time we have stayed in such a big hotel but my fears were diminished after the first day. The hotel was modern with superb rooms, we had a sea view one side and pool view from our massive balcony. The room was spotless and you controlled the air con. There was every service you could need, laundry, room service etc even though we didn't use them and a safe in the room with x lovely walk in wardrobe, they supply towels for the room and the pool. The pools were fantastic with a pool bar to and a child's pool. Plenty of sun loungers and brollies and a table at each. The food was absolutely wonderful at each meal we where half board as we wanted to be out each day. They changed the menu at each meal time and was and there was an amazing variety. They ask you to dress nice at evening meal which made a nice change from seeing people in beach wear, no flip flops shirts vests etc. the staff were amazing and where on hand for every need you might have, our air con stopped working and within mins someone had fixed it. The whole atmosphere was always relaxed and super friendly. We went to the welcome meeting and glad we did as there was a whole a4 page of excursions at super prices. We did a Greek night which was excellent and a day trip to lindos again which was great. The coach trips where all on air conditioned buses and we had a few pick ups to do on route but the trips were worth it. We also did our own trip to Rhodes town a short public bud trip which again are all air conditioned. Rhodes town was wonderful and we spent 9 hours there. We also had our own private beach for the hotel which was clean with plenty of loungers and brollies. They also have a crazy golf 18 hole at the front of the hotel which was good fun. We both had a wonderful holiday and would go back with our son who at he time was having his own holiday with family. I can't rate this place enough and for once I have never felt so relaxed and care free. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Had an amazing time staying here it definitely suites all types of people, I stayed all inclusive, with the standard all inclusive stuff you also get the safe and WiFi code from reception although the WiFi can only be used one device at a time. When we stayed we were mainly at the beach as being round the pool was too hot! Only downside is not many sunbeds there for the amount of guests and they could use up dating. The staff are very friendly and always willing to help. The rooms are comfortable and with air con a must in the heat. We had a room facing the mountain but was still nice as you could go out there at all times and not be too hot unlike the pool or sea view rooms. It was really nice to know that you can exchange your blue beach towels as and when needed.
Only negative was we tried to keep our room on as we had late flight but kept being told we had to wait till Saturday and when we tried got told no well you could of told us that on thursday! All in all had a lovely time will definitely be coming back soon

Stayed here last Sept, thought i added my review but didnt so here it is.

+ great modern stylish rooms with good air con
great choice and good quality food at restaurant buffet
nice pool with bar
only 10 mins from Rhodes town
generally good service
watersports opposite
decent entertainment with nice rooftop bar

- local beach is hurtfully pebbley
can get windy on this part of the island
as previously mentioned, george the waiter is a walking disaster with no grasp of mannerism,he
spilt wine on us,not only did he not apologise,he tried to charge us for the replacement!

Overall a great hotel, with great standards,lindos/rhodes town are a great day out but beware many restaurants we went to in rhodes town were poor quality with sky high prices, lindos has the best eateries.

Room Tip: if i went again i would defo pay extra for a sea view room

I stayed at this hotel with my boyfriend for a long weekend. We booked it in combination with a flight from Israel and got half board.

The hotel was large and very nice, the staff was helpful and prepared for the significant amount of guests (July is high season there). They were prepared and efficient upon check in and there were also available to call taxis and set us up with a car rental company that sits in the lobby. A musician played in the lobby one night, which was nice.

The location is right in between the airport and the city (15 minutes/ 10 euro cab from both) and across the street from the beach. The bedroom was large with a balcony and sea view, although the TVs were very small. We could hear some noise from other rooms. The bathroom was nice although the cleanliness level did not meet my high standards. We did not spend much time in the room so it was okay. The food was mediocre to poor quality but there was a huge variety (pasta, Asian, vegetarian, etc.) so we always found something to eat. I recommend going for breakfast only and going early to avoid lines.

The pool was nice but chairs were always reserved (usually from the morning and for the whole day!). We had a relaxing pool day in the afternoon but in the morning the entertainment staff were loud on the microphone and intrusive, constantly asking us to join activities.

Overall, we had a great vacation in Rhodes. I would recommend this hotel to families and couples for an affordable weekend getaway, but not much longer.

Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to bring your feedback to our attention.

We are sorry that Olympic Palace did not prove what you have hoped it to be although are glad to read that you still had an enjoyable stay with us.

Regarding the issues raised and without wishing to be unsympathetic, your remarks about the hotel’s cuisine, the cleanliness of the rooms or even regarding finding available sunbeds are all very contradicting to what other holidaymakers are writing on Tripadvisor.

We understand of course that not all guests have the same past experiences or criteria when judging a hotel and would like to apologize at this stage for any dissatisfaction felt.

On a positive note, we would like to warmly thank you for your praises for our members of staff; this is greatly appreciated by all of us working for Olympic Palace.

Once again thank you for choosing our hotel for your stay; we very much hope that perhaps we might have the pleasure to welcome you back should your future travel plans call for a trip to Rhodes.

Kindest Regards,
Olympic Palace
