The first day when we arrived in amathus hotel in Rhodes I was very pleased to see that its for sure a 5 star hotel, children were very excited. The rooms were very big and the bastes view, clean rooms, staff was very helpful and breakfast very rich. Also on the hotel there is a person to help you rend a car with less money. Big pools outdoor and indoor and a hot Jacuzzi, sauna , my husband enjoyed the gym and the last I would like to thank all the staff on the hotel and I recommended for families and for couples. Also is very close to the city with only 5 minutes drive with the bus. Taxis and buses are cheap.
Thanks for everything and I will see you on my next visit.

Andy & Caroline, Nottingham. This was our 5th time at Amathus Beach, and as always we had a great time. The location is great, just a 5 minute taxi or bus ride into the old town. Admittedly some of the areas could do with a re-fit but lets be honest just how much time to you spend in your room and we prefer the atmosphere in the hotel which is not cold, chrome and glitzy but warm and welcoming. We like a room on the 9th floor, the view is amazing and as the dining room is above, you can sleep without being disturbed by footsteps from the room above, The staff are terrific, reception always smiling and helpful, nothing ever seems to be too much trouble, Gaynor in particular. I am amazed that people have problems with the dining room and buffet, I have to stop my husband trying every dish there is and never once have we not found anything good to eat. Waiting and bar staff under the management of Vasilis, Food and Beverage Manager, are the best you can find and the sign of a good manager is that he keeps his staff, many of them have been at the hotel for as long as we have been going there. Special mentions for Litse, Socrates and Stomatis and Alex, even the high season temporary staff are warm and friendly. We know it can be a bit of a nuisance to queue for an outside table but it is never that long and very much worth it, for the fantastic view, why wouldn’t you wait 5-10minutes to eat breakfast or dinner overlooking the bay. Fabulous!!
The pool area is well managed and kept clean with pool service waiters constantly at your service, with the introduction of Quality Service Managers always on hand to make sure things are right, tables cleared and bins emptied.
The introduction of more entertainment on the pool deck has been welcomed and the lively, but not intrusive Animation Team were great.
We find that to be friendly with people is usually reciprocated, and a smile cost nothing but can make a huge difference to your holiday.
We love the Amathus Beach, Rhodes, and the people so will definitely be returning next year.

Room Tip: 9th floor, amazing view, dining room above so no noise from other guest moving about the rooms.

Hi!

I just got back from a stay at Amathus beach in Rhodes. I stayed there from the 18th till 25th of september.
First of all I wonder why some reviews suggest that the hotel isn't that good for a 5 star-rating. I'm a 21 year old student, and I must say that I do care about where I'm staying, my standards are quite high, and I thought I had a really nice stay there. Nothing negative to say!

The hotel itself is very nice. The entrance is large, and personnel at the reception are very nice. They give you a lot of good information when you check in. There IS someone who helps you with your luggage, maybe just have a little patience before you say there's no one to help you.

The rooms are good. We had one on the 8th floor. I read the reviews before going on holiday, and I was a bit anxious about what the rooms were going to be. First impression was good. It's a standard room but you don't need to spend a lot of time there. It's also true that you hear a lot of noise from the street.
Beds are of good quality. Maybe the bathrooms are a liitle bit old, and I did have more luxurious bathrooms, but didn't bother me. You've got everything you need.
Wonderfull sea views!

There are 3 pools. The one on the 11th floor is the moost calm one. It's true that a lot of people lay their towels very early, but you still can find a place at the 11th floor pool.
Staff at the pool is friendly. The pool at the reception is somewhat noisy from the street.

Food was also good. A lot of variety, and theme nights. Although there was one evening that i dind't know what to eat, but you always find something you like. You can also have your meals outside and it's really stunning. The views in the morning!!
The location of the hotel is also very good. There's a bus stop right in front of the hotel, and it costs about 2€ one way to get tho Rhodes town.

Overall, it's a very good hotel. You don't have the impression there are a lot of people staying there. Although, you might have to stand in the line, when you want to eat outside in the morning and in the evenings.

But everyone had different opinions about the hotel in general.
I loved it anyway!

rhodes is worth a long weekend trip or a week but thats sufficient in order to relax visit the heart of rhodes and lindos the island.
the hotel was beautiful and childrenfriendly..
there were two pools one one outside opposite the beach quiet large yet distanced enough from the street and the other one on the rooftop.
breakfast is served on the upper floor so you are haveing breakfast whilst enjoying the amazing view.
the rooms are not that great unless you get the suite or upgrades. for honeymoon the have a seperate hotel which each room has its own pool on suite looks amazing!
the standard room are like those in turkey - if you know- you never take less than a 4 star hotel ground rule. we had a room with a shower which had no boundaries so it flooded our room ... also make sure to order sea view cause the backside is a mountain and so you hear the echos from each room when you open the balcony. i praise the hotel cause i saw others which were much worse there are that many good hotels in the area!
the hotel as mentioned is just opposite the street so you just neet to follow the passage especialy made for hotel guests and you are at the turquoise beach its just beautiful.
most other hotels are right on the street and its noisy.
the only thing you need a taxi or bus to go to the center
.look them up and compare others and decide for youself . if you dont plan to spend your time inthe room the hotel as such with its spa, pool restaurants, bar, and all around is just great.

Room Tip: if yuo can upgrade the suites in the hotel as well as the exclusive extra hotel - see website - are...

I should have taken the advise of most of the other reviewers of this hotel. It is certainly not 5 star. The hotel is old and in need of a great deal of modernisation. When we booked this hotel we expected it to be of the same standard as the Amathus in Cyrpus but there is no comparison. The reception staff were very helpful and I would like to give a special mention to Gaynor. The room we were given on arrival was on the 9th floor. As the hotel is on the main road into Rhodes it is very noisy all day and most of the night so you needed to keep your balcony doors shut. It had good sea views. The room itself was spacious enough with plenty of storage space. That is where it ends. The beds were uncomfortable and the bed covers looked like they had been there for the last twenty years. The air conditioning only ran at one speed and was very noisy. The bathroom was not much better, although we did get a shower over the bath. Some other guests only got a shower cubicle with a plastic curtain round. The bathroom towels were of good quality which is something. The corridors were dark and depressing. The meals in the buffet restaurant on the 10th Floor were of very poor quality . At the evening meal there was only one choice of potato and one choice of vegetable. The rest of the buffet was not very exciting either. The staff were unfriendly and not very professional. If you were walking back to your table with a plate of food and they were walking towards you, they would expect you to get out of the way. The chef who was carving the roast joint of the day and who did the fried eggs in the morning was so miserable and never smiled once during the whole of our stay. Normally in a 4 and 5 star hotel I would expect a chef doing fresh meats or fish in the evening .
The dress code in the restaurant was supposed to be smart/casual with no sandles or short trousers for men. This was never adhered to.
The pool area and bar area on the 11th Floor and the main pool areas were ok
After a week of putting up with all this, we decided to upgrade to the Elite Suites. What a difference. The staff could not do enough for you and the breakfast and the evening meals in the Varkarola Taverna were excellent. A word of warning when you do upgrade and you get a special offer price you are not entitled to the evening meal in the Varkarola Taverna unless you pre-book (this restaurant is very popular and is often fully booked) and you are only allowed the normal allowance against the meal you would have had in the buffet reastaurant. The rooms in the Elite Suites are of high standard as you would expect. The rest of the hotel should be of the same standard as this. Seeing how busy the Varkarola was this hotel would do well to open another restaurant with a different theme.
