“Ok, not five star”
Reviewed 22 September 2013

Just a short note to say that our experience of the hotel as a couple aged 30 was that it had a slightly old fashioned feel to it. Dinner service, you often had to queue to get in, the. Wait to be seated, some people probably like this, we found it slightly annoying. My partner did not have long trousers so after two days of going to dinner in smart shorts we were initially told we could not enter and eat dinner. We politely argued that reception had said shorts were fine and with it being the Greek bank holiday we couldn't get to the shops anyhow. In the end they did allow us into dinner but had to sit in the corner by the waiters station and I (six months pregnant) had to serve my partner as he wasnt allowed to go to the buffet. This might sound petty but on holiday you just wAnt to relax and not feel like you're being restricted when you have paid all inclusive.
Main recommendations to improve experience: if people arrive on an evening flight at 9.30pm missing dinner by 15 mins then should a snack box not be available?
If enforcing rules in the dining room, ensure consistency...people were wearing trackie bottoms but because they were trousers this was deemed acceptable but smart shorts and smart shirt wasnt.
The all inclusive package actually includes the menu option the top floor bar which offers lovely food but this wasnt made clear and the staff weren't even sure.
Overall, we were abit disappointed with the a amathus . For our generation I would recommend a slightly less formal hotel with less rules. Note that it is also on a busy road so if you're looking for a peaceful location then this isn't it, as the sea view rooms obviously over look the road. The shower is really small if you enjoy lengthy showers you might be disappointed.

We have just returned from a 2 week stay at the amathus, we arrived at 8.45pm and the reception staff were so helpful they advised us, if we wanted to eat to go direct to the dining room, as they finished serving at 9.15pm, and they would check us in after dinner. We were welcomed into the dining room by a lovely girl called dimitria, she was so helpfull, after our dinner we went to check in and were told our room wasnt ready so they upgraded us to an elite suite, we spent our first 2 days there, it was lovely we had our own private pool! the only downside was we couldnt really unpack and get settled, but after the 2 days we were moved to our room on the 8th floor, which was nice we had payed for a seaview and we we not dissapointed!
The hotel is in a good location not far from rhodes town, we ventured out alot, hired quad bikes, seen alot of the island. What amazed us apart from the staff was, no matter what time of day you went to the pool you could always get a sunbed, we prefered the pool on the 11th floor, we tried the pool on the ground floor but was a bit too noisey for us, but the staff there were very nice.
The bar on the 10th floor is lovely to sit and watch the sunset and again the staff were very welcoming, very professional service.
The food was fantastic! we enjoyed our breakfast, lunch & dinner, lots of choice and very tasty, and i have to mention the staff at breakfast & dinner, maria & dimitria are a credit to this hotel, they remember you, and your preference to sit inside or out, they become our friends, and were so helpful advised us about places to visit etc.
The private beach is small but theres a lovely breeze which made the heat bearable, very pebbly we bought some shoes so we could get in & out of the sea easy.
At lunchtime we had a great service from the lovely katerina who always welcomed you with a smile, the waiters & waitresses were all fantastic, the girls that served in the bar got to know our room number & our drinks, by the end of our holiday we knew all the staff, and they got to know us, this is a fantastic hotel with fantastic staff.
The downside
there is a bar in the reception area that nobody goes too, because you had to pay for drinks, if it was part of the allinclusive, more people would use it, as theres a nice waterfall garden to sit in, and its a nice peacefull setting, however we only sat there our last day while waiting for our pick up!
Overall a great hotel, service out of this world! we will be back!

The hotel was one of the most complete hotels in all of Rhodes.
We saw a lot of hotels on the island, but none of them could top Amathus Beach.

The hotel has it all: great service, multiple activities and delicious food.

The only thing we thought could have been better was a thing called "Half board plus upgrade". We had a half board package, but if we paid 105 € p.p. extra, we could drink as much as we wanted to in the hotel for the entire week. Not all staff was familiar with this upgrade and we didn't receive a card or bracelet to prove that we were in fact "Half board plus" and that we could drink for 'free'. We had to explain almost every night to the waiters in the restaurant what this upgrade was, but at the end of our stay, our bill was completely correct, so no comments there.

If you want a nice and semi-luxurious stay in Rhodes, Amathus Beach is the way to go!

Room Tip: Don't take a room on the 9th floor! You are right underneath the restaurant (10th floor) and you...

My husband and myself stayed at the Amathus Beach hotel from the 11th until the18th September 2013 and were all inclusive. I've often wondered why people go back to the same hotel year after year and we have always preferred trying new places out , but the Amathus was so good, it has ruined us for other hotels now and we can't wait to go back next year. The hotel is very clean and the mattresses are really comfy. We paid extra for a sea view room and it was well worth it , the view is amazing . The food was excellent with lots of choices , I'm vegetarian and didn't have any problems finding something to eat at all , in fact the only problem was we ate far too much , especially the desserts which were gorgeous. As everyone else has already said the staff are amazing, so kind and friendly , we have never felt so welcome and looked after, nothing was too much trouble and we felt we made some real friends amongst them. Even the entertainment was good especially the rock band who played on the Wednesday night. We couldn't find a fault if we wanted too , and it was the first time that we wished we could have stayed longer. We both can't wait to come back. It was the best holiday ever.

The rooms are a little old and small however, they were kept clean and I didn't spend much time in it anyway. Rhodes is a beautiful island the Hotel is well located. They have two pools, the top pool with an 'R' on it is an adults only pool which I loved! Pool service was also available. The hotel also has a walkway underneath the road for beach access so you don't have to worry about crossing the road which can become busy at times. I really enjoyed my stay here and would not hesitate to book again.

We would like to thank you for our amazing holiday from the moment we checked in until we checked out. We really felt that we had 5* treatment. The staff are a credit to the hotel and thanks to them the service we received was outstanding.
Katerina (Pool Deck Head Waitress) was very professional. She was always welcoming ,
friendly and attentive. Vasilis (Pool deck waiter) so helpful, always smiling and happy to see you. Antonio (Service Manager) was a credit to his role always giving a warm friendly greeting. The food on the 10th floor was amazing and the views from the terrace of the sunset was breathtaking. All the staff who greeted and served us for breakfast and dinner were fabulous, friendly,,professional people. The wonderful cocktails and drinks on the 11th floor were fantastic thanks to Ilias who always served you with a smile.
Our room was always immaculate and clean with new towels everyday. We looked at the sea when we woke up, eat breakfast, lunch and dinner, swam on roof top and drank our cocktails.
An amazing hotel with wonderful staff.
Thank you all,
Patrick & Karen
See you again!
