“Another good visit to the Belvedere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 October 2012

This was our second visit to this excellent hotel and it was still as good. There was wine and fruit left in our room because we were returning visitors. The hotel is clean, smart and well appointed but what makes it special is the staff. They always do that little bit more to help you. The food is varied, so there is always something you like.

After a hot walk in the medieval city we were always able to find loungers round the pool, even at midday.

Room Tip: Sea / pool view is good though there is a little more noise.

This is our third stay at this hotel, we chose it because it is fairly inexpensive and it is within walking distance of 'Old Town' with all it's wonderful shops and the historic Castle of the Knights. It is a pleasant walk of about 30 mins along the seafront and through Mandraki Harbour where you can admire the very expensive and large yachts and dream of being wealthy enough to own such floating palaces.
The hotel is only bed and breakfast, which again suits us as we like to sample the various restaraunts, one of the best of which is a restaraunt called 'Thomas's', this was recommended to us by one of the locals, who told us that a lot of the local people eat there. It is situated about 5 mins walk from the hotel.
The hotel looked a little bit tired, but we are near the end of the season, so it is to be expected, but the staff are very friendly and helpful. The mangers name is Popi and she does everything to make your stay a pleasant one. I think the hotels is rated as a 3 star, but even so, we would definitley stay there again. Some of the products in the hotel shop were cheaper than the prices in Old Town.

Room Tip: It's worth paying extra for sea views

Arrived at midnight at the Rhodos Beach and was shown to our 5th floor room - our room overlooked the beach and we had spectacular views of the Aegean sea.

ROOMS
Average size room with 2 single beds, bedside cabinet, small vanity unit, safe, fridge and TV and a couple of chairs and a little table. Double wardrobe was behind the main room door and was difficult to keep open as it knoecked against the door all the time - very annoying when trying to sort out your clothes! Beds where reasonably comfortable and pillows nice a big. Bathroom had a bath and shower (over the bath) vanity unity and sink, wc and huge mirror. The bathroom did get flooed every time I took a shower only because there was a little leak on the shower head which meant it driping down behind the bath. Balcony was avereage size with 2 chairs and a little table and I put up a little line to dry towels and swimwear - dried in no time because its very windy on that side of Rhodes town. Air con was free during August and September and was very good - room was really cool. Safe is 20 euros for 2 weeks.

BREAKFAST
I avoided breakfast after a couple of days because it was choatic - choice of breakfast consisted of cereals, yoghurts, cold meats, cheese and tomatoes, hot breakfast was scrambled or fried eggs, some type of sausage, some taype of bacon and boiled eggs, tea, coffee and very weak fruite juice and various bread and rolls. The service was very poor, had to wait for cutlery, glasses, milk, cream and various other items, it reminded me of a school canteen and there was total lack of experience and therefore I only had breakfast about 4 times in the whole two weeks!

POOL
Poole area is only small but plenty of sunbeds only because most guests did noty use the pool - no umbrellas and therefore no shade from the blazing sun - pool was freezing! We used the Belverdere next door which was lovely - pool was still freezing in there though! Nice lunch in their outdoor restaurant.

BAR
We only used the bar on two occasions as it was nothing special, better to walk up the road to the couple of bars near the hotel

STAFF
Found the staff to be really helpful - even when we got stuck in the lift - reception staff are freindly and room maids came every day to change towels and bedding again very pleasant

OVERALL
The hotel is in a brilliant location and is clean but sadly its does let itself down by being very dated and could do with a facelift and especially for the price, you can get nicer hotels. Rhodes town is however very beautiful and very busy, hundreds of bars and restaurants and plenty of shops you would not get bored. Beach by the hotel is pebbly but the water is really warm but can get a bit rough. Hotel not far from Bar Street and if you walk through bar street you come to a street called Mandilara, go to a bar called TAKT - brilliant bar showing loads of music videos which you can request and really reasonably priced 5 euro for a pint of lager and a huge glass of wine - which was very very nice, loads of restuarants in this area too so you dont always need to walk into the old town and all excellent value

Just on another note - Rhodes Airport is a nightmare and again is very choatic. It may sound as though I am very negative about this holiday - I am not as its was a really lovely holiday and thoroughly enjoyed it, just some little things let it down

Just had two week stay at the Rhodos beach hotel . the staff there were very friendly and helpful . Upgarded to a room with a sea view and this was very enjoyable to watch the sunset in front of the hotel . perfect location to explore the island and the old town . Antonis the bar man is lovely and gave us lots of advice on where to visit . Supernmarket located in the hotel which is useful . Beach is fantastic and is windy which made sunbathing very easy as the weather is so lovely and hot . Lots of nice meals in the old town and locally . Beautiful location .

Room Tip: Book the sea view room

We have recently returned from this hotel and both of us thought it was really nice. Lovely room with sea views, TV, air con, fridge and spotlessly clean with fresh towels.
Again, pool area really clean, good sized pool and could always get a lounger no matter what time you went at. It has a mini market under the hotel which is reasonably priced.
Staff in the hotel were very friendly and spoke good English, the food was also good with plenty of variety at breakfast time.
Unfortunately we did not like Rhodes Town itself but have no complaints about the hotel whatsoever and it was certainly excellent value for money and in a good location with only a short walk to new/old town.
Many thanks for a pleasant stay.

Room Tip: Our room was facing the sea and it was lovely with sun all afternoon

We have just come back a week ago from Belvedere Beach Hotel. I agree with previous comment that Thomas Cook seriously need to look at their planes and staff. Too cramped going out and check in staff unfriendly. All of that aside the Belvedere Staff especially Fedra made us very welcome. The receptionist,s speak excellent english. A friend rang to say it was our Honeymoon and on the first day there we came back to our room to find a bottle of Champagne and Fruit. The rooms are lovely and quiet. There is built in air conditioning, which works excellent. The rooms are kept immaculately clean every day. There is a fridge to the room. The balconies are not big, but adequate. They have tv and radio service. The towels were lovely and fluffy. The reception staff can organise you trips to anywhere you want to go and its cheaper than booking outside of hotel. The food is excellent and Anja and her staff do an excellent job considering how many they have to cater for. A good sign for us was that the manager of the hotel ate every night after all the guests in the same restaurant as us.
Rhodes old town is 15mins walk from hotel. You come out of the doors turn right and turn right again at Shell Garage. Ask about price of drinks at Rhodes old town before you sit down. One night we asked for two beers and it cost 18 euros. They were huge wellington boot glasses. NOT WHAT WE ASKED FOR. A trip to Symi and the Acropolypse is a must.
The only downside of the holiday is that the Germans and russians ran down the stairs at 7.30 every morning to put towels on the sunbeds. So none for us and the Beach outside hotel was a bit scruffy. Need cleaning up a bit. Take Beach shoes because its very rocky.
Rhodes city bus trip is a must. 9euros to get on and off the bus all day. We would definitley go back to the Belevedere.

Room Tip: If you get bit by mosquitos do not chose a basement room,as there a lot of trees and bush,s
