Had a lovely week at this hotel, ending on 19 June. On arrival, pleased to find a very clean, pleasant room in the building to the right of the main patio area. Towels and bedding replaced daily, which was very good, as was daily room cleaning. Deposit required for pool towels, which could be changed about three times during the week.
Pool bar open from 10 o'clock in the morning, main bar from 1730. Standing in line for the bar service in an orderly manner was not a problem, as all nationalities appeared to understand the rules! Do not expect high quality drinks, or a slice of lemon or lime, as no such thing was available. The main bar has a soulless atmosphere, with grubby orange and polka dot covered furniture, two large screen tvs (on different channels) with sound turned down, and piped music being played, all at the same time! Before and upto sunset, it was lovely to sit on the patio and have a dfink or two before dinner ( if you are early enough to get a seat). Weather was superb!
Apart from the first evening, when things in the dining room went a bit awry, the food was really quite good, No posh table cloths, but staff worked very hard to clear tables etc, and keep things clean, Must say, that local Greek and Eastern European staff were lovely, and very polite.
The local beach is pretty poor, so are most of the others we saw. Gritty and stony for the most part.
Took a boat trip via Olympic Holidays rep, to island of Symi (Simi?). Scorcher of a day, staggering harbour area, lovely for lunch in a lovely location. The short hop to the monastery area a bit of a waste of time though, as only there for about 45 minutes.Passenger ferry for this trip spoiled it a bit...overcrowded, some people without seats, no safety briefing etc. Not the safest in the world. Tour guide excellent, though.
Did a second boat trip, this time to Lindos, cruising down the east (Med) coast. Lovely, close enough to coast to be able to appreciate the scenery. This boat only half full, with better visibility.Had a lovely few hours in picturesque Lindos(very hot), and a superb swim on the way back in a very deep, very blue bay. Brilliant day out.
Easy to walk into Ixia, and Rhodes town.
I must say this. The practice of "claiming" sunbeds near the pool has reached totally unreasonable levels. Some people left towels or books etc on sunbeds all night, or VERY early in the morning, and even then did not come to sit on the beds until 11 o'clock, or not at all. Many people, including famillies, expected to have the same sunbeds every day for the duration of their stay. Poor. No good blaming the Germans now.
Would we return? Too true!

Room tip: Maybe ask for roon facing away from pool area.

Just back from a week here - a party of 6 in 3 rooms .We arrived late with the hotel deadly quiet ( everybody seems to diasppear after 11 pm when all inclusive ends !) Reception was friendly enough and despite our late arrival a porter was available to show us to our rooms. We were provided with a sandwich without asking for it which was considerate of the hotel given our arrival time . Arriving in our rooms the fridges were all turned to warmest temperature so adjust yours to preference. Air con worked well tho` a bit noisy at full whack (middle was best or room was cold in morning) which was great as during the day it was getting hotter and hotter.Beds were comfy and looked reasonably new. All our rooms were clean and kept clean by the friendly cleaning staff .Shower worked well in the equally clean bathroom although hand wash and shower gel dispensers were both faulty (despite being new ) and 2 reports to reception failed to resolve the issue - we ended up buying our own .
Food was excellent - lots of choice and it was difficult not to over indulge - one tip be early to beat the rush, if you are at the restaurant door 10 mins before opening time you got in early this applies to b/fast , lunch and evening meal. This way way you also had the pick of the tables inside or out.Leave it late and you will Queue !. Fast and efficient table clearing .Pool bar offered plenty of snacks all thru the day cakes, pastries, chips ,burgers pizza etc all acceptable but wait for trays to be replaced if you it warm.Previous reports of Queue`s at the bar are over stated -with sometimes 3 staff working non stop to serve, given the hotel was full they did a good job. Nice ice cream avalable all day. Pool area was busy and you have to adopt the if you can`t beat em` join em`approach to reserving sunbeds. The pool itself was clean and the maintenance man was there early and late testing and cleaning. Animation team were slightly annoying but ok if you have kids .The hotel is full of east europeans many of whom don`t realise the difference a please and thankyou might make to staff attitude . The big downside is the location - the beach is awful worse than we expected after reading previous reviews - we looked then went back to the hotel.Outside the hotel it`s a bit run down with the massive hotel next door closed down it`s a bit depressing. On the whole a great week and worth a visit - don`t be alarmed by the bad reviews . Ps late checkout room cost 35 euros with no guarantee of availability until morning of departure

Room tip: 3rd florr main building pool view

Returned home from Rhodes yesterday and stayed in this hotel for a week with my boyfriend. It was our first holiday alone without my parents so we decided to play safe and go on an all inclusive package holiday with Jet2. The hotel itself was excellent! We always found plenty of food to eat in the evenings, (yes there was a bit of queuing but it's not half so bad as people make out, and if the Europeans push in then what's wrong with telling them that there is a queue? They soon turn around and go to the back if you say something to them). The quality of the food was much better than I thought it would be, there were three main stations in the evenings for hot food, and a salad station, they usually had a few different types of meat being offered in really tasty sauces, chips, a few selections of veggies in tasty sauces or fresh on their own. There was an oriental section which was my favourite, Usually had some kind of noodles and then a meat dish, and a vegetable dish. The food was never the exact same for the whole time we stayed there. I guess if I was being really picky then I could say that sometimes it was a bit sameish, but it's an all inclusive buffet style restaurant so they aren't going to try food which is really exotic because they have to cater for all different types of people. For the general, unless you're ridiculously picky you will have a full plate of food for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and it will always be tasty. Moving on to the pool bar and bar area, I was impressed at the choice of drinks available on the all-inclusive, the fruit juice cocktails were really nice, you could only order two at a time which I guess might be annoying for any people with a large party but it was essential to keeping the queues flowing, again, there were sometimes queues but I barely experienced this myself. The bar area next to the main reception, which I know is shown in some pictures on the web page, is really well decorated and was a really nice place to sit if you wanted to get out of the sun for an hour or two during midday. The pool area was really lively during the day, we didn't spend much time there in all honesty but the two mornings we did spend there were fun, it looked an especially good atmosphere for children. There are two pools and if you want a good sunbed I would advise going down early in the morning and placing towels on the sunbeds you want, I would also advise that if you want a quieter atmosphere then choose the pool behind the pool bar, it is slightly smaller but it's also much quieter as near the main pool they had water aerobics and dancing going off- just depends which kind of atmosphere you want from it. We mainly stayed on the beach across the road! I have read many negative reviews about this beach and let me just clear some things up. There were NO visible uses of drug use, I have no idea which beach that person is talking about but it's definitely not this one! Yes there are pebbles, but once you get past the pebbles the floor is sand in the water so it's really not that much of a big deal. If you are that bothered about the pebbles then you can buy swimming shoes at the shop underneath the annex of the hotel for about 8euro, they have a thick grippy sole so you don't hurt your feet on the pebbles going into the sea. We found the beach much more than the pool, we liked the quieter atmosphere and the waves were really fun, as it's not in a bay the waves can come in quite high at times which for us was hilarious, but if you have small children you might want to keep hold of them. The sunbeds on this beach were really cheap too, only 4euro for a sunbed and umbrella, we didn't use this as we just lay our towels on the sand and left them there while we went to swim, but compared to other beach this is really really cheap! I have known sunbeds and umbrellas to be 30euro in other more popular beaches. They also had a range of watersports going on at the beach too, there were loads of sailing boats and there was always someone windsurfing. You could also hire out a jet ski or pedalo. Our room in the hotel was amazing! If you have the option of upgrading to a seaview then it's an absolute must! The view was just spectacular, waking up everyday to the sea out the window was incredible. The rooms were cleaned everyday and were spotless, we were on the fourth floor in the annex building and this was great. We had quick access to the pool area by a spiral staircase and great access to the beach. The surfbar was right across from our room and they had a great band playing classics every sunday, wednesday and friday which was awesome as we could see them from our private balcony whilst looking across the sea.

Aside from the hotel, I want to recommend a few places to visit. Firstly you absolutely have to go into old rhodes town. It is beautiful to walk around all the market inside the castle walls, the harbour is also beautiful. From the hotel if you turn right and walk up the road, you reach an adorable little coastal path road which eventually leads you all the way round to old rhodes town and the harbour. I would say that you must do this walk at least once if you can it's really picturesque. But leave early in the morning to avoid the midday sun which can get a bit unbearable without shade. You can get buses or taxis to and from rhodes, the taxis are 8euro each way and the bus is 1.70euro each way, you have to buy your bus ticket before you get on the bus but this isn't difficult, any of the supermarkets sell them and you can buy them form the busstop in rhodes town. If you want to go on any excursions via boat then I would recommend going down the harbour for about 8.30 and walking up and down to see what deals you can get, this is what we did and we got a day trip to the beautiful island of Symi for only 19euro each, in the hotel this trip was advertised as 40euro each!!! So taking the initiative and going to do it for yourself will save you loads of money. Symi was one of the prettiest places I've ever seen, definitely rivals picturesque sites in Italy and Austria which are renowned for their beauty.

Overall, Rhodes is a beautiful island and we really enjoyed staying in this hotel especially for its great access to Rhodes town. We would recommend this hotel for any type pf holiday maker!

Room tip: Pay extra for the sea view! It is definitely worth it, the annex building was nice and quiet and had private balconies.

I could not fault this hotel at all.......We have just come back from two weeks at the Cosmopolitan and can honestly say we had a fantastic time. The food is excellent, you would really have to be a very fussy eater not to find something you liked at every meal. We had room 610, a suite, our room was cleaned every day, with fresh towels and beds made. ALL the staff were really friendly and extremely helpful, down to the reception staff allowing me to use the hotel computer and printer to print out my boarding passes to come home. The entertainment was excellent, during the day there was kids club morning and afternoon, stretching, water gym, water polo, darts, water volleyball for adults and children, boules and at night the list is endless... Greek dancing, bingo, tombola, kids mini disco every night (maybe monotonous for single adults but our kids and I loved it), comedy nights, Brazilian dancing, cabaret night, Mr & Mrs Cosmopolitan and the list goes on. I would especially like to thank and commend the ITAKA staff, our children use to follow them around all day and nothing was too much trouble for them, they took them under their wings and made our children's holiday a memorable one, thank you Pepeto and Jola (I'm sure these are not spelt correctly but if they're reading this they'll know who they are :0). The hotel is 1 minute from the beach, bus stop and taxi rank. You can walk literally 5 minutes down the road and find bars etc but we spent nearly every evening at the pool bar watching the hotel entertainment. Rhodes town is a 5/10 minute bus ride which cost 1,70 euro's each way for an adult and .90 cent for a child over 6, under 6's go free. Like anywhere if you want a good spot then you need to get up early and because we have a large family we were always up around 7/7:30 to put our towels by the pool, sometimes there were queues for food but as a previous guest stated in a hotel of this size thats understandable and anyway you're on holiday so what does it matter and believe me the food was worth waiting for. My children all want to go back again and I would definitely book the Cosmopolitan without a moments hesitation.

Room tip: Rooms in the main hotel seem to be quieter as they are further away from the pool bar
