“A little gem”
Reviewed 20 September 2012

Stayed here for two weeks this summer with my boyfriend. It was very clean and cosy. The staff were very friendly. A yummy breakfast, beautiful pool and a overall lovely atmosphere. All the little touches such as candles at night, the terraced garden and pebbles made it a gem of a hotel. I had a wonderful holiday.

Room Tip: We were in room 306 and this caught the sun in the mornings, overlooking the mountains. Perfect spot...

For nine years we went to the same hotel in Ixia (Pines Tree's) which is now sadly closed. We've not been back to Ixia/Rhodes for 3yrs and wanted to stay in another hotel that was small and friendly and this looked like it would be. Our expectations were met pretty much from when we arrived with a lovely warm welcome from Maria and continued with the rest of the staff. There was also a nice Scottish lady working behind the pool bar who turned out to be the owner!

We stayed in room 101 which is at the back and overlooks a nice house and gardens. It's balcony is a good size and from the side you can look down to the pool. The bathroom is a bit cramped with the shower curtain almost permanently stuck to you while you try and avoid the soap dish with your elbow. or not. We also got room 110 for between checking out and leaving which is on the side away from the pool but had a much nicer bathroom. The balconies on the side are wide and narrow while at the back they are deep but not as wide - I prefer the latter as I can stretch my legs out better. So the bathroom from 110 in 101 would be ideal!

The pool bar does some lovely food with two/three specials each day including some great salads. All at a good price as well.

There was a great selection for Breakfast with some hot food every other day - look out for the wonderful bacon which had lots of nice crispy rashers as well as non crispy.

The bar is open from 6pm (the pool bar closes at 4pm so there is a 2hr "no bar" period) which was staffed by the very nice Agnes (I think that was her name - I never asked which was poor) who does a very good Mojito according to Jane.

Possibly the only down side to the hotel is actually more the tour operators fault in that the coaches can't get down the road outside the hotel so your dropped off on the main road with a general wave of the direction to head by the coach driver. You then have to walk the last 350yds along a not very flat road that's slightly uphill - not ideal. You then have to go back and wait by the road to be collected - although the tour rep does stop the traffic so you can get across. Next year we think we will get a taxi.

All in all this a great, wonderful, friendly hotel that we can wholeheartedly recommend.

The hotel is located in the resort of the island, in the countryside. Decorated in the traditional Greek style. There is a pool. You need to go to the beach about 15 minutes. Near the hotel you can find two real supermarkets. Not far to go to the mountain Filerymas. Buses from the airport and Rhodes City stop in 5 minutes. Room is equipped well. For air conditioning and fan you have to pay separately (we did not need). Quiet street. The bathroom has soap, shampoo, shower gel (but not renewed). Breakfast is very good (including fruits, various yogurts, warm meals, but juices of chemical concentrates). In the evening you can eat on the spot. There were no problems with communication with the staff in English. There is a separate room for baggage storage, a guest toilet and shower (you can ask for a towel).
- No elevator. Have to pay for the fan in the room. No TV in the room (there is one near the hotel bar). WiFi only works near reception (do not need any code). There is a computer with Internet access for 2 euro. Soap, shower gel and shampoo in the bathroom was only for one person (added after the request).

The pictures do not lie and the many descriptions say it all, there is not much to add. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and found the hotel to be an ideal base for touring Rhodes. The beaches are very pebbly and there is not too much entertainment of an evening but there are lots of restaurants to choose from. Basic, clean with excellent staff in particular Emma who was always smiling and extremely helpful. The only downside was the towels are quite rough but again clean and changed daily beware if you have sensitive sunburnt spots!!! We would recommend and can see why many guests are return travellers.

Room Tip: Room 208 (second floor) has triple beds on the quieter side away from the pool with shade in the aft...

We are coming to the end of our first holiday on the island of Rhodes, and we couldn't have picked a better hotel to help us enjoy this wonderful island.Everything about the Nathalie is first class, the owners and staff are very welcoming, friendly, and nothing is too much trouble, and is done with a smile.
Our room is spotlessly clean,no need for slippers!Towels are always fresh and fluffy, endless hot water.
Reception staff are excellent always friendly and smiling, the food at the pool bar and in the restaurant freshly prepared and very good value.
We have been coming to Greece for 42 years, and this is one of the best hotels we have stayed in.

Room Tip: If you don't want the sun on your room as for the residential view.

2nd time staying at the Nathalie after staying here 3 years ago - recognised a few faces from the last time I was there.
Rooms are small, but perfectly adequate, cleaned every day and new towels provided daily.Paid for the aircon and 6 euros per day and found it a god send after struggling few a few Greek holidays without it - we did get use of the roof terrace for the last 3 days of our holiday which was very much appreciated and a very nice apartment to spend some time in.
As mentioned previously all the staff are friendly and will help you with anything that you need, food and drink at the hotel is very reasonably priced. Breakfast is basic, but adequate and served until 9.30am - I'd have preferred it served until 10, but that's a small gripe.
The bars and restaurants in Ixia seemed quieter this year, probably due to the popularity of all inclusive hotels - which is a shame as they are plenty of decent places to chose from

We returned here again this year, for the same two week period and thoroughly enjoyed our stay yet again. Emma, Maria and Linda on reception are all very friendly and helpful. Agnes in the bar (she was in the pool bar the year before last) kept smiling regardless of the demands for her lovely cocktails. Eva in the pool bar was equally friendly and helpful. The cleaning ladies did a wonderful job keeping the rooms and reception areas clean and their smiles were a pleasure to see first thing in the morning.
We were amazed to find so many people that we remembered from the year before, which just goes to show that the Nathalie is a great place for a holiday, if you like small, basic and very friendly hotels.
Air con is still 6 euros a night, safe deposit box 10 euros a week, washing machine 3 euros a wash and cocktails still 4 euros. All very good value.
We ate in the hotel restaurant one evening, the food and service were both excellent, and the cost was a lot less than surrounding restaurants.
The best place to buy trips around the island is the Sigma travel agency in the shopping centre on the other side of the main road going towards Ixia. They are very helpful and the trips are a lot cheaper than those offered by the rep. Especially useful was the bus trip they did to Lindos. The pick up from from the main road (opposite Hippocampus restaurant) and cost 14 euros each. This gave us 5 hours to explore all the sites and shops. If you do the boat trip to Lindos you only get just over 2 hours which isn't really enough time to explore properly (as we found out last year). Another trip worth doing is the island tour which takes in Ancient Kameiros and Filerimos (site entrance fees are extra).
For eating our favourites were Dimitrios, Napoli and Los Locos (Mexican), all within easy walking distance. We tried Jason and Coconut once each, but wouldn't go back to either.
All in all another great holiday and we look forward to going back next year.
Our thanks to Lisa and Yannis for providing such a wonderful hotel.
